ANyone got any fun songs that arn't metal? Thread Nazis killed my last call..
Anyone got any fun songs to play that arn't metal? It's taken me four years to finally explore this bewildering thought. (satire... )
Looking for some 'fun' songs to play that arn't death metal. Been rooting through a couple of cheesy 'classics' like 'beat it' by Michael Jack-off-your-son etc, but could do with some more suggestions
Also I want to learn some chord stuff, as I'm terrible at it. I found out I even struggle to play the chord bit neatly in mr crowley. Oh the shame.
Maybe this is a shit idea for a thread on metal tabs, but I'm genuinely asking this, and this is the only guitar forum I bother with, based on the fact people on here generally know what they're on about.
Transient
nothing gets me as excited as metal when i play it. but cky

Led Zeppelin is always a good choice. There are obvious choices from Zep like Stairway, and Black Dog, etc...but I like a lot of their mellow stuff. Rain Song comes to mind, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is great too... Pretty much you can't go wrong with anything by a decent 60s/70s hard rock band. That is, if you like that kind of music.

Cannibal Corpse - Decency Defied is kind of like the title of the thread, Fun, Easy and Awesome. It can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be.

Pig Destroyer - Cheerleader Corpses
It's fast, but it's not really too hard to play. That, and the song just fucking rules.

Now My Daily Playlist Is:
1. Em scale from different freths - warming up.
2. Dark Tranduillity - Hours Passed In Excile - good warmup, including one-hand tapping, palm-muted stroke, pedal tonics and other modes.
3. Kreator - Impossible Brutality (usually I playing only rhytm line because some soloing in it is still difficult to me).
4. In Flames "Only For The Weak" or "Artifacts" - with all solo lines.
5. In Flames "Dialog With The Stars" - I trying to play solo line with maximum cleanness.
6. Any track with clean guitar (such as "Tears In The Rain" of Satriani or "Into The Dead Sky" of "At The Gates". As hard kind - "Possum Goes To Prague" of Blackmore with pick stroke).
7. Blind Guardian "Time What Is Time" - just universal song! Now my hands can invoke some demons and spit fire!
8. Children Of Bodom, Dream Theater, Death etc...

Yeah, thanks.
I was also looking at the written one. The one with rating. That one looks pretty good. Got the solo and everything.
I may learn to sing and play it. It's got a groove to it, so I shouldn't find it too bad.
When I decide to tune my guitar to a low F, I've been listening to Rational Gaze by Meshuggah so long I can sing and play it if I close my eyes.

the hardest songs I can play are.....
Yngwie Malmsteen - Arpeggios From Hell, Black Star, Far Beyond The Sun
Children Of Bodom - Kissing The Shadows, Towards Dead End, Deadnight Warrior, Children Of Bodom
Megadeth - Holy Wars (not that hard), Tornado Of Souls, Hangar 18
Metallica - Battery (not hard but fast!)
Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno (not really hard just fast and lonnngg)
Jason Becker - Opus Pocus (not hard now but those sweeps took ages!!!)
Lamb Of God - 11th Hour, Laid To Rest (not hard, just the stretching in some riffs)
that's all i can think of for now...
but currently the hardest thing for me to play is Jason Becker - Paganini's 5th Caprice I can just play the first 30 seconds or so.. that shit's fucking hard

Im learning Fermented Offal Discharge. The rythym is I think the easiest out of all Necrophagist songs (IMO). When I learn the solo I will be ecstatic, and Ill probably play this song end or final year at high school music. The first few sweeps in the solo are easy ??? And Ive only been playing guitar 1 3/4 years?? weird. Its just the 'getting fingers there' part thats hard, Am I normal to find sweeps quite easy? Or are these sweeps easy?
An Easy / Awesome song I love to play is The Colour of Sleep - Psycroptic. Once you get all the patterns and shit it's awesome and easy. Just takes a bit of work.

I'm trying to learn Frantic Disembowelment now. It's pretty easy actually, only trouble I'm having is with that annoying sliding power chord riff. Goddamn though, that song tires my left hand and pinky to death.

The song itself isn't that hard if you get the hang of it...but endurance for the whole thing is difficult to master. My hand gets seriously tired like half way through it haha.

You must be born to sweep or something! So, no, you're not normal.
I've only been playing 1 1/3 years, and I can pick 32nds at 130bpm and hold the oddest chords and tap decently, but I can't sweep for shit or do that rapid legato triplet thing they all do.
I'll probably be learning tech' death for my music course next year at the Higher level in Scotland.
Search for a guy called The Corpseifier on www.youtube.com. HE'S the stuff on death stuff.

The only way I like playing that is at 200BPMs. Sounds decently thrashy that way. Just have to improvise with a few extra palm mutes, triplets, different timings, speedy alternate picking etc and it kicks ass.

I don't know, but it's like that with me too. Out of all the showing off I've done for my musician friends (one knows how to play guitar and one doesn't) they think Thunderstruck is just plain awesome. I guess just because it sounds cool and looks cool. Then again, ACDC is the epitome of cool.

I've been playing Judas Iscariot's "The Heavens Drop with Human Gore"
and Burzum's "Ea, Lord of the Depths".
Really fun to play, and makes your tremolo really sharp once you've practiced both songs a lot.

Maybe we once again have a sympthom of the belief among metal heads that technicality automaticaly equals a good tune and vice versa, which is not the case.
It's at the outer fringes of metal, but Guns'n'roses' November Rain is sweet.

I'm on my way to learning dead human collection in its entirety. It used to be so fucking difficult but...I guess something clicked yesterday and now its moderate fucking difficult. I think Cannibal Corpse songs/songs that require a lot of finger movement make your hand feel good after you have learned it well. The same way Kenyans feel good after marathons.

YESSSS
I learned the first 30-40 seconds of Yngwie Malmsteen - Ship of Fools, it's pretty mid-paced and not that though to play. I'll post a tab for it later... and maybe tab all the riffs.
