Coffee...

...a gift from the gods? I don't know what it is about it, but I am not happy until I have had mine for the day. Anyone else feel this way? What do you like in yours???

I also must drink coffee or I won't feel complete. Coffee is my primary drink and I'm not joking here.

I drink it black, with creamer, with milk, with sugar. Got a 4 pack of Star Bucks Caramel Cappucino in my fridge at this moment.

Most of my post was talking about coffee. Excluding the last sentence.

Right now I got some Folgers: Special Blend. I usually get the kind that you have to grind up yourself not sure of the brand though.

I just drank a large Double Double from Timmy's...all of them in the city were packed because of the godamn Hurricane Noel..shut power off at my work though so I'm getting paid right now for staying at home. Over 100,000 people in the province(mainly in the city) without power, so people are wanting to go to their comfort zone.

In Canada, Tim Hortons is crack.

I like french vanilla black, if it is hot. French vanilla iced with cream and 5 splenda is my favourite. I also love almost anything from Starbucks. I hate homemade coffee, it just doesn't taste the same as like Dunkin Donuts to me.

A double double is two cream, two sugar. Usually I go with a single single though.

French Vanilla is awesome. And the Splenda is because I am on Atkins. Can't have sugar. Sorry that you don't like it though.

I only drink coffee black. To the person who says "coffee is coffee"...bullshit. That is like saying "beer is beer." There is a huge spectrum. I tend to go for the more subtle flavors like Starbuck's French Roast or House Blend.

My friend went to Costa Rica a few years ago and brought back this awesome coffee. I don't know what it's called but it was less than a week old when I got to try it and it was absolutely fantastic.

i fucking hate coffee. it smells great, tastes not nearly as great..so i add a shitload of sugar and cream..then it's sweet, gets me bouncing off my desk at work and dehydrated. so i wind up drinking endless amounts of water all day, which causes me to take endless amounts of pisses.

I drink the shit black, nothing in it.

Most people tend to turn their coffee into some sort of molten candy bar. On rare occasion I'll cream and sugar it, I tend to drink too much when I do.

flavored coffee I avoid, just some decent stuff, nothing fancy. Bustello is the brand I get the most, some roomates get the 7-11 brand sometimes.

Right now I'm drink what was leftover from yesterday.

Years ago I used to drink a lot of coffee, usually one at breakfast and one after lunch. Once, it happened that I spent two days in a row only drinking coffee, a whole coffeepot (the ones that make 6 coffees - Italian "size") at breakfast, lunch and dinner, without eating anything. Since then I started to detoxify (yes, I was like drugged) 'cause it didn't help me anymore to stay awake when I needed it, but it started not to let me sleep at night. After I stopped, I drank it other two times. First time, already after years, it helped me to stay awake during the university lesson, but the following day it was again like I had drank water!

If i'm on the go, i'll probably get a Grande Caramel Macciato from Starbucks. At work i'll drink the cheap stuff from the Klix machine (at 22p a cup), and have it black, perhaps a dash of sugar, but not always. If im drinking instant, i prefer Kenco over Nescafe, but i don't drink coffee often at home.

I am powered almost entirely by coffee.

I have had three stovetop coffeepots since I was 16, right now I have a beautiful all-stainless one which should last longer than the other two. I also have two plungers (for that slow-brewed up-all-night goodness) and a Turkish pot (for that HOLY FUCK IS THIS COFFEE AND NOT METHAMPHETAMINE kick).

Anyone who drinks flavoured coffee is an abomination, and Starbucks is an excrescence. Have you ever considered that the reason they add all that appalling muck and whipped cream and sprinkly-winkles is because they can't make a decent flavoured fucking cup in the first place? Also, how fucking old are you, looking for an excuse to eat a caramel sundae just because they allegedly added some coffee along the way? Is the world permanently high?

Starbucks is a fucking abomination, and if you told pro-lifers they performed abortions behind the counter and got them all firebombed, I'd be the first to help with bail money.

The question brings to mind those who drink ice coffee, a terrible, terrible deviation from the "true" manner in which coffee addicts get their fix.

For me, whether or not I can stay awake and focused is a matter of will power and not additives. But if Jim needs coffee I'm willing to accept that it's not universally a question of will power.

In any case, it seems like a habit that's not much worth picking up. And it's definitely not worth dressing it up as a ball of candy/jism to disguise the fact that it tastes like napalm was dropped on how it smells because you're incapable of complicated tasks like staying awake over the course of a day or paying attention to things, and equally incapable of handling what it actually tastes like. Then again, in all things I pretty much think if you can't handle it then you shouldn't be doing it, rather than finding a way of doing it without doing it, or rather having such a way shown to you by somebody who found it because you're too damn lazy to look yourself, especially when a corporation maybe took a look for you.

I'm not a big fan of coffee but if I'm super tired I'll have a few cups of it. It usually just makes me have to shit about 20 minutes later without helping me stay awake, kind of defeating it's purpose I suppose. I do like the taste though, that nice bitter roasted goodness, reminds me of a stout beer.

I really like good coffee, the pricey kind. I find myself quoting Pulp Fiction everytime I get an excellent blend.

Other than coffee I love hot chai tea mixed with milk. Goes great with my early bird spliff during these frigid east Tennessee autumn morings.

I never drank coffee until I was about 30 or so. I like teas of various kinds. One of the few times I used to drink coffee was when we were out fishing and that was instant. I couldn't stomach the stuff any other time. Now I can, but not in quantity.
I mostly drink it black and make it rather weak compared to some I've had. That's cool because the doc says I really shouldn't drink it anyways. I've been known to put anything from my homemade chocolate protein powder in it to just milk and sugar or once in awhile molasses to make creole coffee. A little dab'll do ya with black strap. Cold coffee with some chocolate of some sort is pretty good in summer and Bailey's on a cold winter pre-dawn morning is great. Once in awhile in the afternoon I'll brew some with a cinnamon stick in the basket. Can you tell I get bored with the same ole thing?
I have 2 percolators that the cords are worn out on that were my grandmother's, but now I have an automatic with a timer that I really like since the ole man gets up early.

its not for me. funny enough, just this morning i asked my dad if he drinks coffee (i dont live with him) and he said no. i said the same for myself.

last time i had coffee, i was working at a chlorine plant. i put about 8 spoons of sugar, and 1/4 as much cream as there was coffee. obviously, i have to add too much shit to drink it.

Jesus, I don't like too much in it..it gets too sweet.

Manual labour got me into coffee a few years ago. I drink it a lot anymore, probably 3-5 times a week.

I don't know if 'need' is the right word. But it sure does fucking help sometimes.

Coffee in Sydney rules. Have you ever tried really, really good coffee?

Some people are addicts though, they need coffee and go through withdrawal symptoms if they don't have it. My dad is a shining example of this.

I did work with a woman who had to have at least one cup when she got up for work around 2 in the morning or she'd get severe migraine headaches.

I love my daily coffee. Always gives me a nice mood lift and helps me feel 'alive'. I try not to consume too much though, because anxiety attacks fuckin blow.

I was never a fan of coffee untill about 3 years ago.

In my Junior year of High School, my sleeping schedule was about 4am-7:10am for the last few months of the school year. I was always up late trading albums over aim with people, mainly InnardsDecay, back when it was the cool thing to do. For the first to classes of the day I was always forcing my eyes to stay open, constantly getting in trouble for sleeping in class(fucking high school). The morning after I got my licence, Finally able to drive to school, I had to get gas. I saw the coffee pot when I was inside waiting to pay and I figured, "What the hell?". That morning I was wide awake in my first two classes. My English teacher asked me questions wondering why I seemed so different. In History I was answering questions like a machine. I got a coffee and a pack of breath mints every morning before school for the rest of the year(no one likes coffee breath).

Ever since then I don't really drink coffee much, nor do I rely on it for anything. My work has a coffee machine so I'll make one every once in a while.

Hazlenut is the shit!

Sleep is for the weak.

I'm about to make some 7-11 brand, which sucks but will suffice.

Holy crap; slammed for my coffee preferences, lol.

Anyway, to whomever asked, I am 29.

I didn't actually start drinking coffee until I was 21, when I started working 3rd shift. It became a necessity in order for me to stay awake (I know; why work third shift if I can't stay awake? 19 bucks an hour, that's why. Tell me you wouldn't.)

I did not say that I had to have anything in my coffee, in fact, I think I said that I drink it several ways. Maybe Starbucks has to disguise the taste of their coffee, but when I get the finished product, it's pretty fucking tasty.

And seriously, what difference does it make it it is flavoured or sweetened or what not? Does this mean that anyone putting ketchup, or mustard or whatever on a hamburger doesn't actually like hamburgers? Preposterous.

And that's my "what-if".

Probably the fact that you're addicted to the caffeine in it and if you don't have it, you begin having withdrawal symptoms.

Starbucks coffee does taste odd when you drink it black, like almost it was modified to taste a certain way sweetened.

This and I think they employ some mindcontrol techniques. They add some minerals to the coffee and those minerals deposit in your blood and then radio wave frequencies are emitted, electro-magnetic fields are fired up........the waves carry specific instructions to vital parts of the brain.......shop,spend,shop,buy,consume.......spend your money........buy that home you always wanted, redecorate your apartment, get the matching couch with the table and the mugs and the plates and the curtains and the toilet seat all one big motif...........consume, dispose of your income.....

CONSUME..............

I've had what people have told me was good coffee, but I have not had what Jim drinks in Sydney.

Are you really surprised that you got slammed for something on This Man's Internet? C'mon. And your analogy sucks. Condiments on hamburgers are analogous to cream, sugar, etc. when it comes to coffee, but most of the criticism in this thread have had to deal with either overuse of either (and if you put so much ketchup on your hamburger that you can't taste the meat you clearly don't like the taste of beef) or the inclusion of various candy flavors to mask the coffee-drinking experience with a child's sweets flavor, and if you poured caramel over your hamburger people would find it just as strange.

And, finally, if I worked 3rd shift I'd adjust my sleep schedule accordingly. It's easy. I've worked night shifts and I've worked shifts that start at 5 in the morning, as well as normal office and restaurant hours, and it took maybe two days to get used to each new schedule. So forgive me if I don't find your sleeping at different hours from other people to make you uniquely destined for caffeine-consumption.

How can you walk with that enormous tastebud deathphallus shoved sideways up your begging four-tiered metal bleacher of an arsehole? Seriously. Opinions are subjective, and you're STILL wrong and sick.

Coffee story, boring, typed because drank too much Guinness and because I immediately thought of this thread today due to circumstances described below:

I grew up drinking the snottiest coffee in the world. I mean this in its most literal sense - beans from Java, Brazil, Columbia, East Timor, Sulawesi, locally roasted by coffee houses that win international prizes for being extra super-faggotty. I have tried civet shit coffee (kopi luwak). This makes me a bit gay, but not especially unusual here.

For immigrational and circumstantial reasons, Australia takes coffee way too seriously. For example, this morning I woke up in a hotel room (not mine) and on the way to work, stopped at an unfamiliar coffee place. While I was there, a fellow covered in paint or ceiling grout walked in (i.e. he was probably a chippie or a painter and hence as blue collar as fuck) and orders a fucking ristretto machiatto.

End of story. No moral.

I came up with my own coffee recipe. You brew a batch of fresh coffee, pour a shot of Grey Goose (or any preffered vodka) into the batch, then crush up an Ambien CR and put the powder in the mix. Then drink up.

How about just snort 2 pills, chew cocoa leaves, and carry a handle of jack?

I think just coffee might be a good alternative to what you're doing.

I actually am a bit surprised. Not offended, just surprised. It's only coffee, not politics, lol.

But anyhow, I am glad you are so able to adjust your sleeping schedule with no problems. I have to be tired to sleep. Often times I need to go to bed when I am not tired. This creates a problem. I can't sleep. And nothing can change that. I have tried all sorts of sleeping pills, changing my diet schedule, melatonin, blackening my room, etc, etc. I am just one of those people whose body does not like the third shift schedule. Oh well, if anything else, they are paying for my college.

PST is such a badass. God forbid if something tastes good, like alcohol, coffee and hamburgers.

YOU'VE GOT TO TASTE THE BEEF MAN, FEEL THE BURN OF COFFEE AND TASTE THE BRAINCELLS DYING FROM ALCOHOL! BE A MAN, DON'T EAT KETCHUP AND SUGAR!

Buy the instructional video, 'The Vision' directed and starring PST himself. This is what one consumer had to say about it in a recent interview;
"Ever since I saw 'The Vision', I've really changed my outlook on my intake."
"Change your outlook on your intake? I see you're really taking a shine to the slogans."
"Yeah, I mean I used to eat boiled sweets, now I eat glass! It's tasteless and scratchy, so when I'm eating, I KNOW it's bad for me! I know what I'm getting myself into!"

coffee rules........i drink it black. The bitterness wakes me up and kicks me into gear. If i want something sweet then i get a capuccino (but only occasionally though). Sometimes I put milk in it to cool it off.

I have a cup of instant some mornings before work and make fresh coffee only 4-5 times a year. I prefer tea to coffee.
Most of the time I use Typhoo or Tetley teabags and some of the time Twinings Earl Grey teabags and loose leaves, "Traditional Afternoon" (a blend of 3 teas), and a few times I've bought Lemon and Ginger ones.

Well, since my point was that if you don't like the taste of something you shouldn't be eating or drinking it, I don't think I need to be a creative genius to say that you don't have to eat broken glass if you don't want to. But if you really want to eat some broken glass it seems pretty pointless to pour caramel on it; if you can find a good reason to do so please explain it to me. And if you really don't like coffee there are thanks to modern technology about 10,000 other methods to get your caffeine.

Everybody insults everybody over the pettiest of things on the internet. Sorry you found out so late in the game.

As for making yourself tired enough to sleep, which I need as badly as you, the best way to change sleep schedules is as follows: If it's close to your existing schedule, there's no problem. If it's different and you know it'll be coming up, before you start you can change your schedule fairly gradually. For me the best way to do this means staying awake through an extra day until the point when you'd need to go to bed to be on the schedule you're switching to: for example, if you're working, say, 6 pm to 6 am (actual hours I've worked), need an hour to get ready and go to work, and are used to, say, 8 hours of sleep, you'll need to go to sleep at 9 in the morning. So, you wake up at the usual time on one day and stay awake until 9 the next morning, at which point you'll be pretty tired. Set your alarm for 5 and there you go. After a day or two you'll be on that schedule. It's pretty much exactly what you do when you travel to a very different time zone; let your body adjust to the new schedule and then move on like it's the old one. Lot easier and quicker than repeatedly feeding yourself something you don't like until you've developed a dependence on it.

I realize everyone insults everyone else on the internet (I used to hang out at the Opeth forum), it merely surprised me that I was ragged on for the coffee preference.

Since you obviously know everything about properly changing sleeping schedules with no problem, I will give you my schedule, and let your wizardry organize it effectively. Here are the variables to throw into the equation:

I have to work from 11 PM to 7 AM Monday through Fridays. But on startup nights, I have to be in at 10:30.

Usually I have to work Saturday as well. Occaisionally, like this week, I have to work Sunday too.

I go to school twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 until 8 at night this semester. Next semester, it will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 until 10:30 PM, which will make my life easier.

Let's not forget about the 45 minute commute each way, which becomes longer in the wintertime (obvious; if you live where there is snow).

I have about 6-10 hours of homework each week.

I also have no recourse when a neighbor decides to be loud and obnoxious.

As it is now, I get home from work Monday mornings, and (hopefully) fall asleep by 9. This will give me 6 hours of sleep. Usually doesn't happen till about 10 (not that I don't try). I get up at 3 or so, get ready for school. I am up until the next morning until at least 8. Sometimes I have other things that need to be done, being a homeowner, this happens from time to time. If I really need something that I can't get around here, I have to travel 45 minutes to the city. I might not get back until noon time. Then I can go to sleep. I wake up, and get ready for work. Well, when I get home in the morning, I am not tired, because I slept the night before. But, I have class later on that day, so I am screwed... the rest of the week goes quite similar to this until Friday morning (providing I am not mandated to work the weekend). Fridays I stay up as long as I can (usually till about 6 or so Friday night). Then I wake up bright and early Saturday and stay up until about 10 that night. Then I sleep through the night, hopefully waking up early enough Sunday morning to get a nap before work.

I know that niether you, nor anyone else care about that. I also don't honestly expect you to figure out how to simplify my schedule. My point is, simply adjusting your sleeping schedule is not always an option which is that cut and dried. Assuming otherwise when it comes to someone else is just plain ignorant. It is easier for some people, just not me. But I deal, because I make good money and it is expensive being an adult.

And I still love coffee.

I drink about 24 oz of coffee(black) and a Star Bucks vanilla frappuccino ever morning. Boy do I get tweaked.

Impromptu message I wrote not caring about what kind of feedback that I would receive. So it's moderators jobs to point out grammatic errors? Opps I made another. Humans are fallible, fuck you.

This is pretty obvious that you wanted to provoke me so you have a motive to suspend me. Go a head douche you're not inflicting anything that will harm me.

loz.

I'm thinking about buying my own bag of some strong dark roast coffee beans, the stuff my mom drinks it pretty weak...although I usually make the equivalent of 4-6 cups so it gives me the jitters.

Not really. I just don't like you very much.

They have the best buzz out of any coffee product. By the time you've eaten enough to feel anything, you realise you've overdone it and your gut is full of brown cruddy stuff that leaks caffeine perpetually for several hours. They're great. Overpriced, but great.

Wow. Requiem is gay, and touchy. Jim is of ambiguous sexuality and I believe touches dogs in provocative ways. Which is a kind of 'touchy.' But it's still less touchy than Requiem. And we can suspend you for no reason if we're desperate to do so; no need to come up with a crafty plan.

I was on a shoot once where they had the chocolate-covered coffee beans. For those who don't know, sets operate on snacks. That's not the type of set-up you want those beans around for. But they are good.

There is a special Christmas release of a gift pack at the government-owned liquor stores here. It comes with a bag of chocolate covered coffee beans, however the reviews I've read about the beer deem it inferior. I may buy it, simply because I've never tried the coffee beans and I collect beer bottles.

I always drink it late at night when I feel like I'm about to go out and I know I need to stay up. I can't drink it in the morning, it just tastes weird then.

Coffee and video games not being either of my major interests, I don't get it (actually I do, I just want to make it clear that I am in no way associated with you).
