Norther or Children of Bodom
These two bands, at times, sound pretty alike. I personally dont think they sound as alike as some people say they do: you can see all kinds of shit on their guestbook about them either copying COB or (for some people) sounding better. So which band do you guys prefer. I like both of them, but if i HAD to pick who i thought was the better band... Id go with Norther.

yeah, kalmah does have some similarities to COB. Kalmah kicks ass!
I think i like Norther more than COB because to me their is a better feeling to norther's sound. Sure COB has better solos and plays more difficult leads and stuff, but i think norther's keyboards and guitar leads just have a better feel.

They're from Finland too I think, more underground but also heavily influenced by CoB (or at least very much compared to them). Not bad at all...

I would have to say i like Norther best, Cob were good but i find their new album left something to be desired.
As for Immortal Souls their newest album, Ice Upon the Night, is amazing and has a few similarites to both of the other bands but in the end sounds alot different.
Skyfire is the best by far out of these style of bands and I hope their new disc, titled spectral and is coming out next month, will be just as good if not better then their other stuff.

I like COB better by far although i like norther alot. I dont think they sound too much alike except for the vocals maybe.
