I was doing some research and I came across Angelo's website.

I've heard of him before. I'm thinking of purchasing one of his earlier tapes
from Starlicks Publishers: Master Session series. Have any of you seen this
tape? He's got a couple of other instructional videos also. Seen those?
Have any of you guys been to one of his clinics?

I've never heard his music. He was in a band named Nitro.

I've seen his video on advanced speed and picking technique, amazing. It is rediculous how fast he is. And its musical too not just mechanical shredding. He can do everything he does right handed on a left handed guitar by crossing his hands. He also has this thing where he flaps his left hand on the top and bottom on the neck, he is the only one who I've ever seen do it. He is comparable to Jason Becker interms of writing music, only his music is bit more experimental, and I think he is faster.

I've seen one of his clinics here at Feedback Utrecht, a pretty big music store, that guy is insane

ha also plays a two handed guitar to show off, not two on one side, no, in a V-shape, just tappin his arse off, one of the most crazy guitarist I've ever saw. allthough I kinda miss ' feeling' in his stuff, he's super-technical and incredibly fast.

Yeah he is probably one of the most technical/fast guitarists ever. Hes got more talent than Yngay too. Being able to shred with with your left and right hand is incredible. Nitro sucks though, just power metalish type style with a extremely high voice.

But like most great shredders, he is definatly not a song writer. His solo carrier is tedious and redundant like that of Malmsteens.

He's good to listen to every now and then but gets really boring. The same runs, the same sweeps, even uses the same key regularly so many of his songs sound extremely similar. He's technically amazing but his songwriting ability lacks.

He played on that "nailguitar" with 28 frets or something and had still long hair.

That's debatable. Marcus Paus had the world record at 46.67 notes per second, although some of what was picked up as notes was just fuzz or slop. Well, believe it or not, my hair look almost exactly the same. And I swear to God I wear no wig. It's all about finding the good hairdresser.

Also, shredders all play the same stuff in the end. Stolen neo-classical shits here, fast scales and arpeggios there. Nothing's more boring. But it's my opinion.

It looks like his picking hand dosent move at all, because he keeps two fingers on the guitar body as sort of an anchor. Its complicated to explain, but it seems to work for him.

Shit me! That guy's fast, very impressive but the track isn't exactly amazing, it seems just to be a medium for him to show off, there's no feeling or any kind of groove to it.

Im obsessed with this guy he is amazing at guitar. He can be melodic and yet extremely fast at the same time. I bought his dvd speed kills and i learned more from it than 6 years of lessons. He does crazy guitar tricks u wouldnt even think of. If you wants some of his better songs get "prog", "no boundaries", and "2x again" im sure there are many more though.

He is amazing, but his creativity lacks somewhat, he plays the same arpeggios in nearly every song , and his phrasing is pretty poor , people like yngwie malmsteen, paul gilbert... are way better, maybe not faster though.

Yeah I heard and own his speed kills dvd. To tell you the truth I found it boring. He does maybe two sweeps that got my attention. To many effects on his sound and he does this stupid over lapping guitar part that just sucks. You cant understand what he is doing. I think the first Paul Gilbert video ( Intense Rock Seq.) blows micheals stuff away. Thats my opinoin. Oh yeah about the two handed guitar thing, Hopefully he has improved alot since he has made the speed kills video because the stuff he was doing on there sucked. I bet we all could play that way.

The thing about Angelo is that, he is awesome to see live...but alot of his "techniques" you can't hear on the record. Hes more of a visual show off than anything else and I think lacks completely in song writing.

That about the Left hand Flapping as you call it, on the bottom and top. It's really not that hard - I started practicing in a slow tempo, then fast, without hitting any notes, and then worked the speed up. Not as difficult as it look, I can do it pretty much the same speed.

HE isnt sped up at his videos, ive seen him play live two times, the second time i got the chance to be pretty close to him, almost felt his sweat haha and yeah he does that thing of "over under the neck" really fast and he moves his head really strange too, like a toy or something like that but its because you make a lot of "pression" or i dont know in your arm, the muscles startsa too felt pretty hard and he also puts face like "my god, my arm is wonna fall into pieces" but im sure he does it by himself....besides he is very cool, friendly and very accesible to all the persons at clinics, i could talk to hiim a little after the clinic, have a photo & an autograph, pretty cool dude


ooohh i forgot...the main question of the topic, i think the starlicks vid is pretty much better than the speed kills, there are more complex examples and i think speed kills is a bit simple....compared to the starlicks vid, i shopuld buy that one....and cds i like a lot "planet gemini" the song planet gemini is pretty amazin, one of his bests albums....
