Another Fear Factory CD!
Fear Factory reformed a while ago, and now their new cd archetype is coming out april 20th. This cd sounds promising, and is going to kick some major ass. now that dinos gone, christian plays guitar and Byron Stroud from strapping young lad is playing bass. anyone heard anything from this? Theres a remix of archetype on the texas chainsaw massacre soundtrack, and its pretty cool. I dont know about you guys, but i cant wait for this

i've heard the full CD and to be honest, it's more of the same. i liked Demanufacture but the others albums never did much for me.

Wow sounds even gayer than before, especially with the bassist from strap on young fag

Pretty good.
It's what 'Digimortal' should have been. I'm glad the lyrics are much better than 'Digimortal'. I almost cringe when I hear 'Dead Man Walking'.

Demanufacture and Obsolete are the best ff albums. Digimortal is a little bit too fake sounding to me. They should stick with the old sound, ill check out the new ones.

My favourite FF albums have to be Soul Of A New Machine and Demanufacture. The re-release of Concrete is quite good too.
Anyway, I'm hoping that the new album is better than Digimortal and veers back to a Demanufacture sort of style while not being an exact replica (no pun intended, honest).

It is better than Digimortal, by far. They still have clean vocals, but it wouldn't be Fear Factory without clean vocals, would it?

Definitely not! It's the clean vocals that originally set them apart. Actually, I can't imagine them without clean vocals. Can't wait for when the new album drops in April!

What am i downloading called hatefiles? I though this was the name of the new cd. I got a bunch of new ones that i never heard of from more then one album.
Was there a release since i stopped listening to them when they put out digimortal?
Whatever it is, its actually pretty good.

They've released two albums since Digimortal. The first was Concrete, a re-release of their first demo/album. It has about six or seven songs that later appeared on Soul Of A New Machine and classic B-sides such as Soulwomb and Concrete (later Concreto on the Obselete Digi-pack). It also featured an early version of Piss Christ.
The second release was Hatefiles. This featured a new song (Terminate), some songs they did for video games (inc. Demolition Racer) and a whole bunch of re-mixes. In hindsight I probably wouldn't have bought this album but Concrete is well worth a listen.
Their new album is released in April (in the UK at least) and is called Archetype.

Archecrap
I just want to clear up any confusion for people who have read the news off of the fearfactory.com web site. I was really looking forward to this cd, don't get your hopes up. The cd is nothing like demanufacture, it just sucks.Cyberwaste is as good as it gets, and thats not saying much.

I heard some early recordings of the "new" Fear Factory. I was not into it at all. I think there is a huge hole in Fear Factory. Dino being the main one. I read that Rhys Fulber is no longer a major part of the band. He is the one that injected the industrial sound. Without those two I don't see them going anywhere unless they Change. I agree with most people when they say that Obsolete was the last great album from them. Digimortal had one or two songs that were ok but as a whole I could not listen to it much. Let's just hope Dino comes back, sticks with Brujeria, or forms a new band. He is a bad ass.

Same ol' shite. Twitchy but tight drum tracks that really get your hopes up, then the same riff that they played last Tuesday followed by the classic yell-slightly-out-of-time-with-the-beat-then-switch-to-clean-vocals-then-back-to-yelling-for-the-chorus formula that they've done to DEATH!!! It's beyond me how a band can gain any sort of fame by creating the same song 50 times over.
Mind you: Credit to their live shows, they're fucking great to see. Tight, tight, tight....not that they should be out of practice rehearsing the same thing over & over.....

It seems that FF are getting worst and worst everytime they come up with a new album. I used to be a big fan but they lost me on the way....such a disappointment.

My brother got the album yesterday. I've not heard much of it but it sounds OK. Has everyone heard the cover of 'School' that they tagged on at the end? It sounds weird being played in the metal stylee.

The only thing I liked about them was their cover of "cars". That was a quality song.

Yeah, it's not bad. They keep very much to the Gary Numan blueprint on Cars though - with school they add their own touches to it (double bass drumming, etc). It's not bad, it just sounds strange hearing a metal band doing a grunge cover.
