Muting on frets after 12

Im sure its been used in alot of other music but ive been listening to Death. How do they get that palm muted sound when they play solos and stuff like that? When they use the frets that are higher than 12 , because i cant seem to be able to do it on my guitar. Is this something ill be able to do with better humbuckers or amps or something?

When muting along from 12 and down you have to mute diffrently. You must lightly place the side of your palm over the strings. Doing this to heavily will sound shity, and to lightly will be normal.

By the way, good to see someone else from Cali on the forums!
