Heh, i like hearing stuff like this. I sometimes play songs from video games like donkey kong and zombies ate my neighbors (super nintendo is the shit!). Call me a loser, but i like playing video games' songs, its fun.
Did you ever hear that metal version of zelda's theme song? To anyone who might possibly get the wrong idea and think i'm talking about that disgusting and pathetic version system of a down plays... i'm not.
I came the across the metal version on mp3.com, and i thought it was really cool. I forgot what band it was, but there original music wasnt all that impressive anyway.

I'm in a band that does game music covers. So far we've done Ghost & Goblins (C64), Warhawk (C64), and BattleField 1942 (PC), but we're working on more stuff, like Action Biker and Transport Tycoon. It's great music.

hah, yeah. The best thing to do when those cartoon and video game songs get stuck in your head is to just tab em out. After all, you already got the whole thing memorized from hearing it so damn much. (in some cases anyway)
Games have some bad ass music to them. I like the zelda background music a lot. And i always liked the music on mega man. Thats some cool shit!

Wow!
Thats simply amazing. There are some games out there that have absolutely amazing music.
Some of my favs are... Final Fantasy 3 (SNES), Chrono Trigger (SNES), Einhander (PSX), All Castlevania's, Ace Combat (PSX & PS2), the list keeps going. I have a lot of game mp3's on my computer.
I think the best composer for video game music ever has to be Nobuo Uematsu, who did Final Fantasy 3's music.

I know Trent Reznor (NIN) did the music for Quake 2, and I think he did it for 3 too.
The best music ever in a video game is for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. There is actually a soundtrack for the game that goes up 80$. I lucky found it for 15$ at some Anime Expo a few years back.

Yeah, he could produce some really hellish sounds for a game like Doom III. The game makers should sound him out about it.

You can get tabs for video game songs at Video Game Jam: http://www.kontek.net/vgjam. There's all your Zelda, Mario, Castlevania and Megaman stuff on there. The Doom stuff looks wrong, I actually figured it out and the fills are impossible on guitar!
By the way, a couple of games with great music:
Mortal Kombat (original)
Streets Of Rage (1st boss theme)
Destruction Derby 2
Twisted Metal World Tour (Final boss - track 10?, LA, Moscow music)
Doom95 Hangar theme (Try the fills!)
Nightmare Creatures 1 !
Sonic games
Quake 2

Look around in the PC section of the site and you should find it. Anyway, I attached my version. The fills are fast (4 notes/beat). If anyone can play them full speed, then I'd like to see that!

The Mario coin part is this:
E Tuning, all Natural Harmonics
-5----------------5-------5------
-------5-5-5-5-5-----5----------
---------------------------------
---------------------------------
---------------------------------
---------------------------------
The bleeps sound like super fast sweep picking.
Someone needs to tab it, it fucking rocks. The tone of the guitar and reverb is perfect and I like the weird timing at the start

Hey, this is really great!
I frequent VG Jam and learned to play the SMB Theme from there.
This dude's version blows away the standard way of playing the tune, 'cause before this, we were just playing the song as a single melody, whereas he's harmonising it using parts of the C chord in different positions!
The pipe sound is fantastic! How is he doing that?
Is it a downward rake on some weird notes?
Could someone please do me a favor an post the Power Tab (above) as a plain txt file - I can't make head nor tails of the software..
Thanks for the video link - I've been watching it at least 5 times a day.

yeah the coins are natural harmonics. the b harmonic is for the lower coin sound and the e is for the higher ( obviously ). but point is a coin sound is comprimised of the 2 sounds. so when you get one coin its like 1,2 but when you get a lot its like 1,1,1,1,1,1,2. everything on that vid is legit.
