stupid .11s
ive been trying to comfortably tune to d now for what seems like forever, i had some fender .10 super bullets and recently put on .11 DRs. with the trem flat and everything adjusted correctly, the saddles moved way back on the crappy jackson licensed floyd rose low pro copy the strings seem to be looser than the .10s were, so loose i cant make pinch harmonics on the fatter strings. why the hell is this happenin? im forced to tune up to eb still to get decent tightness, is this just my shitty tremolo or what?

I play C# with 10's using a floyd bridge and it works fine.. ive also tried tuning to d with the 10's and it worked great. Just learn to adjust the bridge. Adjust the trem post, the spings, add more spings, remove some. Just mess around with it

11's are fine for D, i use 10-52's for d, but i am moving soon to 11-50, and they would feel looser, but that is what is fun about down tuning, they become looser, so they feel and sound different, or, as dimebag darrel so eloquently put it, they feel and sound spongy

if strings are so loose you cant make pinch harmonics on them they blow, and loose strings just mean sloppier playing cuz they vibrate so damn easy. They were so loose i could bend like 1 1/2 steps easily. For some reason there just no damn way to make the string any longer, which is how i would get it tighter.

If you touch the truss rod be careful. Dont just start fucking around with it before you know what your doing. Try a simple neck shim.

if you like the tighter fell, do what i did and get a thicker guage of strings.. but be fucking careful, because i put a zw set on my warlock and tuned to e... that made the fixed bridge bend foward permanently... bad idea. i put 13's in my ibanez for C-standard tuning and they've worked wonders.. didn't even need to file my frets... so i guess 12's are your best bet.
