good entery level guitar?
well i was thinking of buying a ESP LTD M100 guitar. i used to take lessons 10 years ago but then gave up. its kinda hard to get better if you don't practice. well now that i'm a little older i've decided to try it again. my dream is to someday be able to shred this time i'm going to take it a little more seriously. in the past week i've been playing an accoustic and i want to buy and electric.
the M100 is about $250. i'm not looking to spend a ton of money on a guitar at the moment. is there any other metal guitars in the $250-$300 that i should consider?
i read in another post that the lower level ESPs aren't all that great

if i was u, i'd check out some second hand guitars, you can usually pickup a good deal on some old Aria Pro's, jackson's, and ibanez's.
If ya want a new guitar, try out a Yamaha RGX, Aria MAC or even a Cort X series guitar. I've played on these guitars and i wouldnt say that that bad for a beginner or intermediate. There fairly cheap aswell

low end ESP's aren't esp's, they're LTD's, which on their turn are korean made and crap. even the deluxe models aren't really good.
for your budget, you could look around for used stuff, maybe a nice Ibanez RG550 with dimarzio's or something.

Yeh ive heard nothing but good about them. But they changed their gibson model to have a rounded horn, maybe because gibson sued them??? I want the ps970. Its a prs copy with 24 frets and a floyd rose. If you really want a LTD then heres a good on for 350 its a neck thru, 24 frets, floyd.... eveything you need just change the pickups http://www.music123.com/Item/?itemno=97951

i have an early 90's rg 570 and its a sweet guitar. go for it. i garauntee it would blow away any cheap ltd. just put a duncan invader or a dimarzio x2n in the bridge and you'll be off to a great start.

Nah jackson are better than msot ibanez's. Ibanez still uses the out dated nut through neck which just leads to cracking. And jackson has neck throughs.

i have an early 90s rg570 and i havent had any problems with cracking in the neck. you keep your jacksons and i'll keep my ibanez. i just personally think the wizard style necks feel great.

Where as i hate the wizard necks Its just personal taste, which is why you should go to the local music store and play the guitars and buy the one that feels best to you upstatecrx

The best "feel" I've ever had for a guitar was the Squier Bullet. the neck was so thin, and the stock pickups sounded alot better than those of stock ibanez's, jacksons' and so forth.

the REAL hammers are excellent. But you probably had one of those "Hammer slammer basher" ripoffs
