Ok, your post is based on an opinion, so here are mine:

Cradle of Filth has always sucked. All they ever did was bastardize power metal, throw in some "ultra satanic super cool" lyrics, and then called themselves black metal.

Children of Bodom is still good, and yeah they changed, but show me one band, who, in the course of many albums hasn't evolved.

Helloween changed from Noise to Nuclear Blast. Big fucking deal. It's still two metal labels, both of which have quality bands. (Noise: KREATOR, Celtic Frost, Gamma Ray; Nuclear Blast: Destruction, Exodus, and they're owned by Century Media, so many more...) Besides, Helloween lost their balls when they lost Kai Hansen.

Don't agree? Good. Next time base your posts on a question, or FACT SUPPORTED opinion. Without an idea, what's the point?

metallica is more thrashy on their newest album then on the few before that, everything post black album just kinda sucked. cradle's older shit is good, midian especially, CoB is still fucking awesome, and i dont know enough about helloween to talk about them much, but what i have heard i liked

Bullshit, even Destruction evolved. The Antichrist and Infernal Overkill are both thrash, but they share little in style. Their earlier style is as much speed metal as it is thrash, where as the All Hell Breaks Loose-Metal Discharge is thrash with almost an early black metal vibe to it. They may still have their core values, but they have evolved.

NaszC, I dont think bodom sounds like new metal. And i dont think cradle sounds like new metal either. To me that statement is way off.
Bodom changed, yes, but since when has nu-metal played such mad solos? Or had practically a full time screamer and keyboards to go with those mad solos? Maybe i just missed a band you might be considering...

Cradle, yes a drastic change, to nu metal... no. To tell you the truth i have trouble now catagorizing them, but as nu-metal, i would not.

Helloween, dont know, and sadly dont care. Not to offend anyone, but i run from signs of full time clean vocals. just doesnt appeal to my taste. Which sucks cause i know how good sinergy is with guitar, i think thats how you spell it. I dont know cause i hate those vocals. pity

I hate the whole keyboard thing... Thats what makes me say COB is nu metal. The keyboards kill the songs and the way Laiho starts the Hatebreeder song with that gay ass nu metal "uhh!" part. The solos are cool, but the vocals aren't brutal, the lyrics are dumb, no blast beats from what I have heard from COB, and no brutal guitars.. yet they call themselves death/ black metal, fuck that! They should also stop that stupid thing with the reaper in all covers, its so stupid adding the same person on the cover. They should just call themselves power metal or something else.

Wow. You've got alot of melodic bands on their. Dimmu Borgir (hey..dont they use keyboard?), Death has got melody, Opeth, Cradle of Filth (wait..don't they use keyboards too!?), Carcass's "Heartwork" is known for its awesome melody, and Old Man's Child who probably use keyboards as well.

So not only do you have melodic bands in your profile, but you've got melodic bands that use keyboard too! So if keboards sound nu-metal than by your interpratation, you like nu-metal.

I haven't updated that profile for a long time ago, yes I used to like those bands that I listed, but when I grew more into really extreme stuff, those bands with melodic shit somehow make me change the track. I'll make sure I update my profile. BTW, uh I like Death only from SBG-Human, so theres not much melody, and about Carcass, I only liked their Syphanties Of Sickness and NEcrotism albums. While Bones' opinion may well be a little misguided, you shouldn't take offense by it, especially on an internet forum. There's no point in spewing vitriol at Bones just because he offers an opinion you don't like as it will only serve to degenerate the debate into a slanging match.

I don't consider CoB to be death or black metal, although as Darko says, they are very symphonic. However, they most certainly are not nu-metal. You only have to listen to the musicianship on offer to realise this. How many nu-metal bands put sweeps in their solos? Actually, how many nu-metal bands play solos for that matter?

I don't like CoB but it doesn't take a genius to tell that they aren't as extreme as most death/black metal bands nor as commercial as nu-metal bands. In my opinion, they're somewhere in between.

I'll give an example in Pantera. They're not as heavy as death metal and not as commercially viable as Korn, Linkin Park, etc. Yet they're still talented musicians who produce heavy and melodic metal. I don't think anybody would dare label Pantera as nu-metal. CoB, although musically different to Pantera, fall into the same sort of "in between" category.

Bones, you really dont like all those great bands just because they have keyboards??!! To me great keyboards are the essence of beauty in black metal and a few other styles. I will never understand. Like metal=life says, is metal just a trend to you. When i start disliking a band it is because THEY change, not from a change in me. In which case the older works are still in my interests. I could go on... but no, and i will not understand

bones: you would be surprised how many bands use keyboards nowadays, its the turntables that nu-metal bands like to use.

CoB are nowhere near being nu-metal or death metal, but i could see then being called progressive black metal. that seems to fit, kind of like opeth being progressive death metal, they arent as brutal as most death metal, but they are death in their own right.

there are a TON of bands who have changed their sound completely recently. in some cases i've found it to be a good thing, but in most cases it sucks.

yeah, cradle of filth have gone way mainstream, but children of bodom and helloween are still awesome.
