Question help with floyd rose

i just got a Kerry King Flying V Signature Series B.C Rich for xmas and it has a floyd rose on it, and ive never even played a guitar with one of those so i need help with it.

1.It does not stay in tune at all

2.At first the wammy bar was at a good height but i tightened something and its now too low... i loosened it and its still the same way? maybe i did something else?

3.the strings are too high off the neck

any help is greatly appreciated.

1. Did you lock the hex screw things at the top of the neck?

2. You need to take off the large back panel and tighten/loosen the screws until they meet your standards. If you need to, switch how the springs are setup.

3. On each side of the floyd there are two little hex wrench slots. those change the string height.

Ibanez.com has a really good explanation/picture sys. of how it all works out.

ive got a licenced FR bridge on my ibanez.. if i were you, i'd take it into a guitar shop and have him set it up for you. watch what he does and ask him what he's doing. it cost me $10 once and from then on i knew all about it. i had read sites explaining it before that, but adjusting the nut was scary, so it was great to be able to watch somebody who knew what he was doing work on my guitar first. it won't cost much and you'll learn how to set it up perfectly.. then the action is perfect and it stays in tune well with great tremelo action.

FR bridges are a pain if you change tunings frequently and don't have a backup guitar, since you're supposed to readjust the springs in the back to level out the bridge angle, as it'll change with the tension difference that comes with any change in tuning. not much fun tuning, adjusting springs, checking tuning, adjust, check tune, adjust, tighten clamps, and finally tune one more time. you'll get quick at tuning though :P

and your trem will rock.
