Scal Length
what is the scale length? where does it start on the neck and where does it finish, i tried measuring the fretboard and it doesnt come anywhere close to 24, or even 22, but maybe thats because its a 21 fret piece of crapola. so anyone care to enlighten me?

The scale length is the length measured from the nut to the bridge. And since you only have 21 frets i take it your guitar is a fender copy so your length should be 25 1/2" for more info check out this link http://www.12fret.com/fret/fv4n7.htm

haha, jeeze short and straight to the point thanks BLS, ey just a side note, if im looking for like very full style metal, like a tone with alot of bass to it, do you think an active emg 81 and a thicker string guage would help, or should i just try to get an amp that actually has some fucking eqing on it?

I suggest looking into a good amp and as well test out an EMG in another guitar before you buy one, I love mine, but you may not like them.

a better amp will definitely help with the bass, but personally i think it sounds better with less bass, i do like slayer and shadows fall and boost the mids up, keep the highs in the middle, and slightly lower the lows, but hey, thats me. heavier strings will give you a meatier sound, what tuning and strings do you use now?

Yeh dont cut the mids out, remember theres a bassist who need to do somthing aswell. Adding a little mid gives more crunch in my opinion, but not too much just enough until you cna hear a tone differenc then roll back the knob a TINY bit

11-52's are heavy enough for standard and dropped d, u might wanna try tuning down a half step or even just a quarter step, itll add some heaviness to your sound

10-52 would work for dropped-c, but c standard id use 12-56, atleast, probably 13-60, id go prolly 11-56 for dropped c, and 10-52 for dropped-d, but for standard 10-50 is fine

not really, when you tune down, the tension is reducued, so the neck stays roughly the same as if the strings were 10-46 in standard, or you get the guitar set-up for the strings, where they fix the neck for ya
