Beginner Help

i been playing guitar only for 1 month and i havent taken lessons and i have a question. when a tab says to bend a note a half step ( 1 fret up )
does that mean strike the note, bend it , then while its still ringing slide up
1 fret ?? i know this question is really newbie but any help is appreciated.

nah lol...
when it says to bend 1/4th of a note, you bend it a little bit, and when it says to bend it 1/2, you bend it a lot

More accuratly, it means to bend up to that 1/2 up note. So bending 4^5 doesn't mean bend 4 then slide to 5 it means bend 4 so that its the exact same note as 5. So hit the 5th note, see what it sounds like and bend the 4th note until it sounds identical.
