A Volume Que.
I bought an AVT50 head a few months ago and I still can't get the sound want. I finally realized that the volume made a big difference. It sounds great with the volume at three, but as I turn up, the tone sucks. Is there a way to keep my tone the same but get bigger volume. Could I use a power amp? Would it blow my 200 watt cab? I can't mic it currently because I don't own a PA system.

Keep your mids down... i had the same problem on my Crate 212... once u go over 4 or 5 they have gotta go

All amps will change in tone as the volume goes up, its called distortion.

when i had a solid state setup, i had to have two settings, one for low volumes, and one for high volumes, because i'd get a kick ass sound at a low volume, but when i went to jam with people and i'd turn it up it would fall apart, so i cranked it up a bit and messed with the settings alittle until i got something i liked.
with alot of solid state setups, low volume: tone gets better, high volumes: tone gets worse.
with most tube setups, low volume: sounds good, high volumes: sounds even better.
