concerning e.q.ing

well... i hope my question isn't too complicated to answer...
but i have like 3 different e.q. possibility's (amp, multi-fx board and metal zone... 4 if you count the tonal knobs on my guitar)

it kinda complicates the whole e.q.ing. I know the V shape (highs and lows up, mid's down) but that only apply's to one eq possibility right?
Wouldn't just one e.q. suffice? I know lots of ppl use more than one e.q., so what would it do?

Well, i hope that somebody can tell me the difference between the e.q. possibilitys (if any)

Hail

Man I never thought about it like that!!!! But each EQ will have a knock on affect on the other, for instance, When I EQ my Metalzone I take out all the High end and most of the bass. While leaving the mids at around half way. Then on my head I have the presense and high up. I always try to use the most EQ on the head and just kinda use the pedals to push certain areas. I think if you have a good clean in your amp (assuming you use a clean tone) you can just use the EQ on your effects to get the desired sound (within reason). Does that make any sense????????

Depending at what you use to eq, the different products will have a different range of frequencies for bass, mid and, treble. Unless you have multiband eq unit that has the frequencies and know how altering thoes frequencies will change you tone you are kind of moving around blind. Also, amp eqs are already biased. They are ment to boost certain nfrequencies where as something like a keyboard amp, power amp, or PA is totaly nuetral. In short thoes different devices each has their own frequencies they eq, chances are they are pretty similar but each will individually effect you tone in different ways.
