i need a guitar really bad and my parents r assholes so they wont buy me one ( at least a good one) and i was wondering what guitar can i get thats cheap but good? i like reverse headstocks and really good distortion so i dont think i could find a good guitar for a good price

try an Ibanez GRX20. that was my first guitar before I got into the lovely RG series by them. It's good for what it costs (about $140 on musiciansfriend.com I think)

By god don't get a Squire Strat. Those things are so cheap, it's scary.

Just get a cheap epiphone. I still play mine every now and then. It plays pretty well for a cheap pos. But beware the body is amde out of plywood like msot guitars under $200

i'd recommend a low end epiphone, too.. they seem to be the best starter guitars in my opinion. i love their feel.. my gibson >>> my ibanez

don't worry about good sound til u get a job and can afford $1-2000 worth of equipment (including guitar and gear). and get a cheap 10 watt amp or something. my dean markly has great distortion.. best 10 watt amp ever. i still keep it in my little room to mess around on.

if you're seriously underbudgeted.. get one of those pocket amps. sometimes they make them in a cigarette box or something. they're $20 tops. never heard them.. but hey it's 100x better than playing an electric without any sort of electricity!

You'll want to check out import Jacksons as well.

LTD's aren't that cheap.

For 300 bucks, you're looking at Squier, Epiphone, some BC Rich guitars, and of course the horrible Amp-Company guitars, such as Peavey and Crate.

buy a $400 peavey amp
