New Kataklysm
More news, for those too lazy to look it up. I'm more excited about this one, than Cannibal Corpse.
The new KATAKLYSM effort, "Serenity In Fire", has been delayed to a March 8th release through Nuclear Blast Records. The album will be released as a Limited Ed. CD with video clips of 'In Shadows And Dust' and 'The Awakener', as well as new clips 'As I Slither' and the movie theme song ‘The Night They Returned’. The bonus CD will include wallpapers, pictures, bonus footage, screen savers and more.

EDIT : by the way, Martyr has a new album coming really really soon
and Neuraxis will reedit their debut album, "IMAGERY" (which almost cannot be found anymore) AND their second album, "A PASSAGE INTO FORLORN", march 2004, on a single cd, and its supposed to have bonus live tracks on it. oh and it will also be available in the U.S. for those interested.

Yes, Kataklysm are heavier. No, that doesn't make them a better band. Give Deicide's S/T or Legion a good listen too.
Cannibal Corpse are just as popular with the nu-metal kiddies, by the way.

Deicide dosent write satanic lyrics like half the bands out right now just to seems evil or sell records, Glen Benton is seriously a fucked up dude who is satanic. Just read any interview with him. Its not only that, the guitarist for kataklysm is so much more innovative. Every album they put out, new techniques. I got sick and tired of Deicides moaning about bitching about christianity and the occult and frankly I would rather take it up the ass from justin timberlake than have to ever listen to another queer ass deicide album ever again.

I have the new Kataklysm. It's pretty good, yeah, Maurizio ain't the hottest death metal singer, but it's still heavy, fast shit, which I like...

The new cd is not that great... It has its moments, but their song structures are getting VERY repetitive. They always do the same expected thing, and it gets old. Not many great riffs either... Still worth getting though.

Kataklysm's "Sorcery" was one of my first Death Metal albums which isn't bad, but nothing great. The new album sounds decent from what I have heard. Maurizioizzle sounds like Kerry King trying to growl.

Daniel Mongrain (guitarist) sings for most of the time, sometimes his brother (bassist) growls a bit. Daniel Mongrain is also member of Capharnaum (from Florida I think).
If you like technical/progressive stuff, Martyr is like one the best you can find. The guys all studied music a lot at school. They incorporate jazz, classical, all kind of stuff very well in their songs. Impressive guitar work, bass, drums... You should really check them out. If you want some good song titles...

SIX WEEKS until this album releases in Australia. Pure shit. Why does it take so stinkin' long?
Kataklysm = pure gold. Shadows & Dust is my favourite "hurt-someone's-feelings-with-this-album" at the current moment.
(Read a review somewhere that says the double bass kick on this album approaches 1000bpm... should be interesting.)
