I use an esp/ltd m-255. As of right now, it has the stock dd hb's that suck butt. On the other hand, I use ernie ball skinny top/heavy bottom strings. This, along with D-C# tuning achieves some earthshaking lows, perfect for dark metal. I also use a metalzone and a supra distortion. I am able to get some really good Cradle of Filth esque sounds out of it.

If you also use ESP's, list what model, strings, tunings, and effects (if any) that you may use.

If you don't like them, state your reasons why.
(unlike some other people, I am open to opinions)

iv played a few there not bad the one i played (not sure the model) had a pretty good neck overall feel of the guitar was nice but i dont have one

I've played an LTD Ec1000 and some other deluxe thing, I liked it, but I'de like a american select series dinky with EMG's more... pure price tags and feel of the jackson neck. ltd's are a marketing instrument, esp's are the real thing with insane price tags.

I'm thinking about selling my warlock nj series with EMG 81/85s and a new original floyd rose bridge to purchase an ESP. MAYBE I'll go with an ESP but I might get a good Ibanez RG model.

it might be different for u but ive owned my rg 270 (its a pretty cheap model,it might be discontinued now i think) for around a year now and it doesnt ... it not... its hard to explain, i dont feel satified with it. but im pretty sure a higher model will be better.

I've played a 270 and I don't like the feel either. A higher model has a very different feel to it...I don't know how to explain it. I don't know which model of RG I played but I know it was one of the better ones and my friend that owns it has an original Floyd Rose and EMG 81/85 in it. Its by far my favorite guitar I've ever held. Plus, he lowered the action on his RG so that affects the feel quite a bit.

I know what you mean. The singer/rhythm guitarist in a band of mine plays a red 270. The wizard 2 neck on it is nothing compared to the prestige necks. It also sounded like crap with the stock pickups so he changed them to a dimarzio super distortion and a virtual paf.
But otherwise, I have nothin against you man. I invite anyone here to voice their opinions without persecution.

ah, the Ibanez RG, one of my fav. guitars, the lower class models are shit (they really are) they come with poor hardware and crappy pickups, they don't even stay in tune when you're using full D tuning.

ok, they're nice begginer guitars, but that's all.

if you're willing to spend some cash, go and look around for a prestige series, those are the best ibanez has god, splendid fast wizzard necks, good di-marzio pickups and a good tremolo system (the cheap floyd replica's they've got on the lower models are CRAP, the expensive edge pro I&II's are kickass)

also, if you're looking for ibanez stuff, you can't rule out the S class either, they're a more or less an RG evolution, they come with diffrent body woods (great sustain and tone on S's) and with different trems then the RG (a bit less extreme though) also the pickups used are of a different kind (mostly IBZ pickups, but not all too bad ones) I guess that the RG's are superior to the S class technical wise, but I've played the prestige S and it has a great feel, the tone of and RG prestige is a bit more tight and it does have a better trem system too...

Ibanez has been making a LOT of new models lately... the destroyer and iceman are back in production and theres some new signature guitars... also some new basses out.. mm.

I dont really like the esp ltd's. I tryed a couple some months back. I can t remeber the names, i know one was a sig kirt hammet one though and it was totally shit. From wat i've played off them, i aint really a big fan. They just dont feel right or play right, but thats just my opinion, i also havent played any top range esp's.

ive got 2 ESP v350s, both blakk.

one ive got 81 emgs and a pa2 preamp booster. tuned to c# with 46-10 daddarios.
i play slayer and thats pretty much it on this guitar. it does the job really well. once set up correctly they are really fast to play. i plug into a 2203 and i can pretty much nail kings sound.

two ive got 89 emgs and its usually tuned to A or G with ernie balls. it has a very solid feel and i play usually death/grind on this thing.

i got these 2 guitars at half price, and these are really really great metal guitars. there are some small manufacturing shit like the headstock on one has a slight bevel on one side, but thats about it.
the necks on these things feel fast to me and they are reasonably thick.

if these werent discontinued, i would have bought another 2 brand new ones, mind you, at the usual half price clearance the store runs every 6 months.
