Cover songs
What songs would you like to see other bands cover? For example, I've always wanted to hear Pantera cover "Foolin" by Def Leppard. It has that kind of "Cemetary Gates" thing going on with the acoustic and all.

I always wanted to hear a very very balls-out cover of Scavenger of Human Sorrow. The original is not heavy enough when I'm drunk.

My band jams that song a lot. When we're drunk we play it at a faster tempo so it sounds more aggresive....maybe its just cause we crank it. I'll make a recording someday when I get some equipment but it wouldn't sound profesional therefore not be pleasing for your drunken needs. Immolation should cover it.....
I'd like to hear a cover of a long, slow, bluesy Pink Floyd song but in a melodic metal sounding style. Maybe a Testament version.

I'd like to hear bands covering songs from band called ILDJARN. Like "Natt Og Tåke", "Svarte Hjerter", and almost every song from ILDJARN, DET FRYSENDE NORDARIKET, STRENGHT AND ANGER or FOREST POETRY albums. Cause they are fucking GREAT!
Bands that would play those song would be something like: Mütiilation (eh.. this band could be object of many covers too), Havohej (too ), Satanic Warmaster, Kadotus and some other allready producting primitive black.

Yeah your right, Hatebreed does the intro real quick, waits for some laughs and then goes on to the next song. Kind of dissapointing cause you get all excited

I wonder if anyone would dare to cover Brodequin's "Mazzetello"
Their drummer is freaking fast and doesn't get alot of credit like some overated drummers like Pete Sandoval and Derek Roddy.

yeah, thats what I said. If you go and ask alot of metalheads at school and ask them who's the fastest/best drummer in a death metal band, many would say
Derek Roddy or Pete Sandoval or even maybe Gene Hoglan.

Did I say he was a bad drummer? I'm just saying that not alot of other drummers in the death metal scene are getting recognition in the underground.

Fast doesn't always equal good. Derek Roddy may not be the fastest drummer out there, but he sure can play. But, he is certaintly NOT overrated. Underrated, if anything. Pete Sandoval, maybe though.

Necrophagist - Inner Conflict [Spawn of Possession]
Destroyer 666 - Blood Fire Death [Bathory]
Death Angel - Red Barchetta [Rush]
Napalm Death - Satan's Vengeance [Destruction]

I can't believe I didn't post in this thread before, given my dual love of cover songs and loudly expressing my overbearing opinion.
I would love to hear some modern DM bands cover some old thrash like Dark Angel, Mercyful Fate, Destruction, Coroner, and some other DM stuff like Pestilence, Atheist, Cynic, and just classic rock like Rush, Boston, Sabbath, etc.
Some specific ideas? Sure.
Cannibal Corpse- Mob Rules (Black Sabbath)
Morbid Angel- Jacob's Ladder (Rush)
Decapitated- Release from Agony (Destruction), Reject Emotions (Destruction), Suicide Command (Coroner), Chemotherapy (Pestilence)
Vader- Land of Tears (Pestilence)

I've always thought Zeppelin's When the Levee Breaks would make a good metal song. Born to be Wild could be a badass metal song too.

Never heard it...but yeah Slayer wasn't the type of band I was thinking of when I said that. More like death metal vocals without speeding the song up much or at all, just driving, heavyass riffing.
Another song I thought of earlier is 'Bark at the Moon'.

if the last few posters had gone to the first post, the point of the thread was to state what song you would like to hear covered by the band of your choice. Rapture90 just stated, im assuming, his favorite cover songs. LETS CONTINUE!
Destroyer 666 - Maze of Torment [Morbid Angel]
Behemoth - God of Emptiness [^^]
Malevolent Creation - Reincremation [Suffocation]

I know this is an old thread, I just thought it was a good topic.
Some I would like to hear are :
Cradle of Filth - Aces High (Iron Maiden) (would be a good laugh with Dani's little girl scream with Bruce's high pitched vocals)
Cannibal Corpse (old) - Rock You Like A Hurricane (Scorpions)
Cephalic Carnage - Sweet Leaf (Black Sabbath)
Dark Funeral - Pleasure To Kill (Kreator)
Deicide - Toxic Waltz (Exodus)
Immortal - Holy Diver (Dio)
Kataklysm - Circle Of Tyrants (Celtic Frost)
My personal favorite :
Cephalic Carnage's Jesus Saves (Slayer)
Decapitated's Mandatory Suicide (Slayer)
Dimmu Borgir's Burn In Hell (Twisted Sister)
Megadeth's Battery (Metallica) though vocals get a little annoying
Type O Negative's Black Sabbath

I'd love to hear a death metal cover of Creeping Death. Or a death metal cover of any old Metallica song for that matter.

The guitar work was, but everything else was just kinda blah IMO.

That cover is pretty great. Always been one of my favorites.
I've never heard Cephalic cover of HSF, but honestly - it probably blows considering two factors: 1.) Their new stuff is fucking awful, and 2.) They couldn't pick a more generic CC song to cover (which makes sense considering their new direction).

Whoa.. really? I have NOT heard that. Did they do the entire thing or just blaze through a portion of it like the do with most "covers"?
Also, I'd like to add Ulver's cover of Sabbath's "Solitude".. really fucking great - especially in context of the entire album.

That's because they haven't covered it, I would like to see them do it. That was the point of the thread. Also, the new album is amazing and your gay for saying it sucks.
