Harmony
What can i do to develop my harmony? I'm tired of making music buy experiment. I wish i could use different chords in a more intelegent way, knowing what i'm actually doing. Most of the times i simple make up chords.
What should i look up for developing harmony and what techniques so that i can add dimension to my music?

Man, I get real sweaty after I wack my dong. Yeah, cause I headbang while I do, and I can't really "Jump" (haha ) like VanHalen in a dorm room, so I just walk back and forth....haha a couple days ago I was jumping up and down on my bed, with my pants down and my roommate came in when I wasn't looking, hahaha.

learn the scales.......atleast you'll be then able to figure out the third & the fifth harmonies...and also the augmented chords.......

Putting the major and minor scales to memory is the easiest way. I personally like the sound of the minor better, but start with the major.
Here is the formula: 1 step, 1 step, 1/2 step, 1 step, 1 step, 1 step, 1/2 step.
1/2 step = 1 fret
1 step = 2 frets
Minor can be achived by starting on the 6th note of any major scale and going from there.

I know it's important to learn scales and i know where to find them, but playing scales is not going to help me all by itself

None of this comes over night. It takes quite a bit of practice to develop your harmonization skills. The easiest way that I know of to harmonize is to take the exact same pattern your playing but move it up an octave.

learn your music theory, eg, chord construction, a lot of harmonies can be made up of using different notes in the triad. And listen to Bach choral music... Its not metal but he has the best harmonies goin on in his shit.
