Original Gibsons

Hey all..
just wondering what experience/exposure some people have had to Gibsons year 90 and back.
I'm currently looking into a 1971 SG with all the original hardware, pots, pickups, wiring which is in very good condition. We probably all know Gibson has taken a big dive in the "value" or "bang for buck" during the last decade. Unless you buy a $4000+ (Canadian) Gibson Custom, you're pretty much buying a 900-1200 dollar guitar.
Anyways... feedback, please
Thanks and have a good day all.

My Uncle has a real old "Recording" Les Paul, I think its from the 70s or before amazing sound. Not only was Gibson making better guitar than, but the wood has had time to age which gives you a much nicer tone.
