Old Series Drum Kits

Does any of you have Older set's, like older Tama's, Pearls, Ludwig, ect.? I didn't know if it would matter or not if you did and if they were do you guy's think they sound shitty. I have a Tama Artstar ES and was wondering if you guy's like them or if any of you have one and think they are good and have good sound quality to you? I read on something that the older Artstar ES that I have is a good drum kit for Metal, like death and black metal. Is it true?

yeah, our drummer uses a really old Pearl drumkit, I think he actually got it from his dad who played on it too, back in the 80's or something.

however, it actually sounds really descent, the toms sound realllly heavy, the floortom moves your eardrum, a lot, its pretty kickass, he did need to get some replacement parts and the bassdrum thing couldn't handle his iron cobra twinpedal so he's got new drumskins on it too, the crashes and rides where all fucked though

if they don't store the parts, no way.

our drummer has had this kit for ages, just a regular setup but with an extra tom and he bought an extra floortom too, however the pearl export series hardware is allmost the same as the stuff on his kit, he got a new snarestand and a couple of those things you 'span' the drumskins with...

If I were to buy a new 14 inch tom, then what kind should I get from Tama? I was thinking a starclassic or something. What would your suggestions be on that?

maybe doctor knows, since he's the drumzone mod?

well I guess he's been shot in hungary or something, he probably did die, or maybe he'll be back to kick your rear end.

who knows

ohyeah 14'' Tama, I'll ask...

Yeah man I was talking to you. Sound sweet though. I like my set a lot, it has a deeper sound and the bass sounds way better than all these new sets they have out now and all. I don't think I will ever sell this set. I see it on ebay and shit for 1,600 and all.
