Quesiton?
Well right now i play guitar/vocals, and my cousin keyboards. Could we produce a album and add in drums/bass and make it still sound realistic and good? With some kind of program?

all the programs i have heard and seen have such crappy drum beats there just blan,predictible and overused so from my experiance, no

I've found that the Alesis drum machine has a pretty realistic sound, as long as you tweak it a little and add some reverb to it. The cool thing is, it's all programmable so you can create your own rythms with a tempo map. I haven't used Boss's "Dr. Rythm", but that's also supposed to be pretty decent. Honestly though, your not going to get a true percussion sound from anything but a "real" set of drums. As for the bass, uh..I dunno. |

i've heard about "Hammerhead" but i've never used it ans don't know if it's worth it
but check it out maybe it's something good

Add some distortion to the drums and with the right drum machine/prgram they wil sond pretty real i.e. Anaal Nathrakh

The ZOOM effects recorder is perfect for that. Sounds like drums, but it only has like two or three distortions, one of them being "clean." The good thing is that it has MANY MANY tracks.

You can also try what we did when we had no drummer and needed to record a track for a cd:
Just find someone with an electronic(al?) drum, that's very easy to record...
We were very lucky to find someone good, and it sounds pretty realistic, too.
For bass - I have no idea if it will sound good - but you can try and use something like the pitch shift possibility (as on the boss gt-6 or in recording programs - CuBase, Cool Edit Pro -, which means you only need your guitar...)

i've tried hammerhead & it didnt click much...
fruity loops is good for drums.......and i've heard loads about reason 2.0 !!! try both of them 
and for bass......well just get a bass & record the tracks...or you might even do it on your guitar

And, I recommend Cool Edit Pro. Dr Rhythm, as aforementioned, for the drum machine.

i would suggest a sampler for the beats, you can creat them yourselves instead of using ones that are programed into beatmachines, you'd just need to know a thing or to about drums, which might be an obsticle for people that dont know how to drum, so then you can just get a friend that does and make him do it. i have hammerhead, but i dont use it for recording or anything, its kinda limiting.
as for the bass, you can just plug a bass directly into the mixer, set the eq, and record, thats what i used to do before i had an amp, but if you do have a amp, i would suggest going from bass-amp-(direct, not miked)-mixer, you usualy can get a better tone this way,
