Ok I took a music class in school and our assignment is to write a solo. The thing is I only read tabs and she is trying to teach us how to read Music. SO she says we have to write ourselves a solo using. like E B G# E B E And In front of those are like O looking things. COuld anyong try to explain to me how I would write a solo from E B G# E B E Cause I don't even know what those are. Any help would be appreciated lol.

Hmm.... your description (and probably understanding) of the matter is so muddy I can't understand what it is that you want.

However, I think that some free "music theory" lessons from the net, and a program like PowerTab Editor can get a fair bit on the way.

woah man, you really don't know that much about sheet music? You should learn sometime, it helps out a bunch.

ok, ok, if i read it right, your teacher is giving you the chords E B G# E B E and you need to make a solo that is playable and sounds good over that pogression. A chord progession is just going from one chord to another one and doing it in time.

ok so my man, http://www.looknohands.com/chordhou...r/index_db.html is the site i always used when i needed to learn some chords. Just select from the list on the right which chord you want. you might wanna somehow record yourself playing that chord progression, its easier playing along with it, then just having it in your head.

my tip is: get Guitar Pro+Serial and install. now you gan write your solo in tab style, and the programm will automatcally transcribe it into usual notes

or else just join a jazz class where you learn the music, saves money.

well try power tab editor ,when u write the tab the program
generates the notes then change those notes 2 half,full,quarter...
by listening and set the tempo as u like,try it it's good.

Ah Ty for all the Help I got an 85 on the solo . I guess she said after i aksed her this morning you can play anything you want but when you write it on paper put the staff notes i think they are called and put roman numerals above it to show what fret your on so i dunno still don't understand it.

those roman numeral indicate which position you are in.
meaning basically which fret your first finger is stationary at....

and those little circles mean that the chord is diminished
whereas the + means the chord is augmented.

i had a really good guitar teacher...and he taught me all these things
he died in early 2001 and was in his 80s
