sure was lucky....I had been saving for a year to get it and I couldn't try it anywhere so it was a blind buy.it's a beauty though (if only I knew how to use it too....) =)
u can get whatever you want out of it but it's a pain in the ass till you find out how, worth it though.anyway,I've looked around,in newsgroups and the gtcentral, but the couple of ones I've made are far better than the distortions I've found there...still not good enough though.

While there is a thread like this, I might as well ask, is the gt6 good for heavy distortion like Iced Earth or thrashy sound like Megadeth? Is it veratile, or is it pretty much only for one type of sound?

Hey there,
I have a Boss GT-6 as well...
Actually I have the same problem as you d_k_260.
There are some heavy patches like High Gain Booster, Rect Metal, ...
But I think what we are looking for is a Six Feet Under death - or even rougher grind sound, right?
I haven't found it either...
G_urr_A, yes it is very versatile, very!
But the problem is, if you want to imitate a sound, it might be hard sometimes to get it out of the GT6... (Yes I can work with it, but not good enough, haha).

I play Dying Fetus,Lock Up,Pig Destroyer kind of grind....anyway,if anyone can add to these settings something as to make it more brutal but still withough feedback post it here.
BTW-For the ones interested in gt-6.....just check out what kind of settings you have to go through to get just 1 (ONE!) sound. And each one of it changes the total sound noticeably so you have to go back and undo something and so on.......pain in the ass but it's really worth it.

Hey again...
I tried out your setup for the grind/death patch...
Too bad I have a shitty 65 watt amp
But I must say, that sounded pretty rough and low
Great job man! Did you use EZ-tone to start from zero?

well,i just started with the metal-zone,then the pre-amp,and shaped the tone with the equalizers and there it was.Took me about an hour though. It sounds awesome through my 25w Laney practise piece of crap amp, maybe just a little bit too bassy, but I can't decide whether I like that or not =),I mean the mutes sound killer but every time I rest my palm on the strings when I stop playing there's this little 'whoomp' bass sound (not anything important) totally noiseless apart from that.I couldn't believe I'd ever listen to a sound that good through that amp.It sounds totally shit through a Marshall valvestate head and cabinet though in a friend's practise studio, but that's maybe cause I haven't bothered learning how to use the settings in that amp.Still it sounds really noisy and hissy most of the times there.Maybe I'll just get a cabinet for the Laney.
I'm working on a black metal sound now.

Oh... yep totally know what you mean, although it sounds a bit to ... unclear through my amp...
I actually need a blackmetal sound for tomorrow morning, please if you have one, place it here today!
I already have a good one (at least through my amp), but I could use better lol.
I will post it within a couple of days, if I find some time to copy and write all that stuff.
What output select have you chosen?
Normally we should pick Small amp or Combo amp, but try Line out/Phones...
That is SO great man... Especially for clean/heavy metal/black metal tunes...
It sounds way cleaner and sharper through that output...

I always use the "small amp" output, all the others sound too trembly in my amp,the mids suddenly dissappear totally!
Ok,here's what I use in my black metal band:

Thanks man....
I will post mine mondag evening or tuesdag (monday I have to record a song for a compilation cd )
Anyway I can't help you with stoner sounds...
All I have homemade are my Blackmetalpatch and a patch to play Iron Maiden...
If you're interested in that one too, let me know, I'll post both.
Why do you use Sub EQ and not EQ btw?

i use both,to shape the sound even better.I'm thinking of adding a third one (a boss GT-7 eq pedal) but it might sound shitty with so much eq.You can get a lot more sounds by adding a second equalizer,as long as you use it right,at least to my experience.
post 'em both,at least I'll get used to how sounds are shaped if I don't use them.

OK here's my blackmetal patch.. remember, amp on clean, and all EQ on amp on 0 !!
You might want to add gain (amp here gives feedback pretty fast), don't know.
Please tell me if you can improve it, and quick
Btw your blackmetal patch was great man! But sounded little fuzzy here.

I think it would be neat if all these patches for multi fx could be gathered into a sticky, or in some other way kept availible. Maybe something for a mod or maybe even Nomad to have a look at?

Well...
You can transfer Boss effect patches via computer (down and upload)
on www.bossgtcentral.com you can find information... But it requires additional cable and I'm not clever enough for all that, lol
