i heard of this one dude....
i heard of this one dude that had to get his finger(s) amputated cuz of blood-clot or sumthin(cuz of caluses from guitar). is it true that too much playing guitar can cause yur fingertips to caluse so bad it blocks blood and it can cause injury? i know carpel tunnel syndrome is true, but is this? i play sumwhat thick strings, and i play alot. so my fingers are not exacly in the best of shape i dont guess. but is there anything to do to prevent damage from happening? i dont know, maybe its all just fake and you cant clot your finger tip...

I doubt that's true and that it could even happen.

Guitar can be a reason to it, but i doubt it being the only reason. Maybe he worked to hard with his hands in some work and then came home and played the guitar and pressure on his fingertops all day. On top of that, he might have had bad blood pressure (dunno if its the right word but ill leave it like that)

i know tendinitus is real,i read about a guy who had been playing bass for 7 years, but he borrowed a 6 string bass for a gig with a band, and something happend and he had to go through some hand rehabilitation because it got so swollen and hurt him so bad he could barely move his hand, because he jumped right into 6string bass from 4 string, with out warming up, and he didn't breath right when he played. after a couple weeks he had to relearn how to play, he already knew how but he needed to fix his technique and do exercises. other people havent been as lucky, they've had to have surgery done on their hands, and amputations, which puts them at an early retirement.
but that shits for pussies i'm to tough for tendinitus j/k

THIS IS NO JOKE!!!!
Back a few years ago (I think 4 years) I was at a "Rock Camp" and it was hosted by the local music teachers at the music conservatory, and well this one guy who was teaching blues style class (or something like that) told us that this one guy who he knew plays bass, and he used his hand and not a pick to play, but the guy always rested his thumb on his bridge pick-up, and after years of playing like that the guys hand got all fucked up, and the guy tried to stop playing the bass with his hand and tried to use a pick to prevent any more damage, but it was too late, the guys hand was sooooo fucked up that he could not hold a pick to play. But the guy had been playing for years, and years so it’s a rare thing.
Well that’s what he told us.

you allways rest your plucking hand on the pickup when you play bass without a pick, he probably had a weird hand because most bassist still have their hands, including me.

That reminds me, there was a program on the discovery channel a couple of nights ago about some guitarists that reached such a speed with there left hands that it caused their left hands to totally fuck up, which resulted in them having no control over there left hand and having continuous spasms in the hand.
Experts say it's because if your left hand reaches such a speed your mind can't keep up with it, it will results in what I’ve just told you about.
