I have to disagree.
I think they are just what metal needs. A straight forward HEAVY METAL BAND.
No other crap like slipknot.

I've begun to notice something, not necessarily here, but in general. Amongst metalheads, whenever someone feels the need to defend a band's true metallity, they feel the need to say something about how they are true metal, not like slipknot, or limp bizkit, or linkin park, or whatever. Anyone else noticing that?

indeed it's a good power metal band with great guitars. but at least for me ( I hate powerish vocals) the work of Gus (guitarist) is greater with Nightrage ( meldodic death )
Where Tomas Lindberg does the vocals.

seriously though, it's probably because metalheads really despise those bands (similar to how i despise Andy Dick), or they're just venting their sexual frustrations by scapegoating bands that they probably have no problem with.
you won't see the scapegoating thing much in these forums, 'cause we got nicest tits threads.

On that whole true metal issue, it's human nature, everyone has opinions, and everyone hates everyone (Thank you Superjoint). I also think that Dream Evil are a little too generic. They seem like they're Onward gone astray. But then again, I'm not into the whole Manowar style stuff either, so I have no valid opinion.

Hey man, if you tell people you have no valid opinion, they're gonna treat you that way. Some of the most blithely opine (opinionated?) cunts in the known universe have no fucking idea what they're talking about but they make their opinion valid by shitting over everyone that tries to say otherwise:
George W Bush; Arnold Swartzenegger (don't care about the spelling, so fans, don't bother); Me; Judge Judy; Jimmy Hoffa. Can't think of any more examples that aren't gonna be known by most (except the 'me' bit), but you get the idea.
PS. Some power metal is great. Dare I say it? Hammerfall! Shite vocals, but like Megadeth they grown on you because you just have to listen to the cool tunes. |

I didn't mean for this thread to become some politcal show down. I just wanted to know were u people stand. I c that there are alot of Power Metal haters here, but hell i don't care i like alot of music. Slipknot and ICP are just too Pop Metal for me. I personly wouldn't want to be called a "maggot" by the band I love.

i still rank Rhapsody as what every powermetal band should be: fast, epic and with amazing guitar solor.
on the despise for nu-metal/mainstream metal bands:
i kinda of agree because metal is... well, metal, not a mixture of rap, techno and repetitive guitar work.
most people despise stuff like Spliknot and Linkin Park because they only play "metal" due to all the attention towards it nowadays.
10 years ago, those bands would've been grundge. 20 years ago, glam rock. 30 years ago, disco. you get my point.
they are on a prowl for money and chicks only. but hey, i'm a fan of the "good for them" philosophy of life so, let them be.
