Hey guys, this is my first post. I'm basically a beginner, been playing for 10+ months now, self-taught. My question is, do T the Gates/ The Haunted use 7 string guitars or can I actually tune down my guitar to their tunings?

This is a bit weird for me as I haven't really been getting into alt. tunings a lot. Usually I play at E or drop D, that's all I've been doing so far. So lend a helping hand! Thanks, and sorry for the maybe stupid question.

Oh, and this is what T the gates mostly use, as a reference.

they just tune down. Get a tuner, you'll prolly have it already, and tune your guitar strings down to those tunings.

The reason why I'm asking is because when I try to tune it down to that my guitar gets all out of tune very easily (ie. after I play a couple of chords or riffs). I guess it has to do with the tension of the strings or something, and I don't wanna fool around with my truss rod too much.

Don't touch your trust rod at all. The reason that it becomes out of tune so quickly ( and is extremely slacky) is because of the gauge of your strings. Your probably using 9s or 10s right now. Go out and by some 12s if your going to tune that low. I tune in B 50% of the time and I use 12s. But since your a beginner, the 12s are going to take a little getting use too because they are much thicker (to prevent detune). But they will make your writs and picking style stronger.
