I got an e-mail from James Murphy stating that
Bill Andrews, Terry Butler, Mick Thompson from Slipknot,
and some others will be featured on the tribute cd.
But the sucky thing is that the songs will not feature
vocals. And I was thinking of e-mailing a recommendation
to have John Tardy to be featured in the tribute since his
is somewhat close to Chuck's. If you have more info
about the Tribute cd?.........Please share

Tribute cd's are a good idea....but they usually end up sucking balls.

Only good cover of a metal band i've ever heard was Cephalic Carnage's cover of "Jesus Saves".


Oh, Cannibal Corpse did a good job on "No Remorse" too......so there's 2 good songs.

There was already a huge debut about how this is a horrible idea. So ill sum it up. Making a tribute CD is just like making money off of Chuck's death. Who wants to hear some guys play your favorite songs? Fuck no, I want to hear Chuck do it because he does it like no one else. And for all you that say "Im only buying it to help his medical bill out"..then why don't you just send send his mother money. And they probably dont get half the money, the record label takes usually a chunck of it. Why don't they have there bands get together and have a hole show where all profit is to his mother? I think its great that people pay tribute to Death by covering a few songs..but a whole fucking album, come on. (Mick Thomson?! Thats like having WHAM cover "Rein in Blood")

I have a cd from my Total Guitar magazine and it
features Mick Thompson, in the cd it has about 8 or 9 tracks
of him soloing (which I is really fast and cool). Even though he's
in a Nu-metal band, he grew up listening to Death.
Plus, he was in a Death Metal band before gay ass
Slipknot (I feel sorry for him because he could have done
better shit than what he has already made in Slipknot)

anyways, deron miller (cky) is playing on it and I belive he might have been the one to put it together. he is a hugggggee fan of death.. he sold one of his guitars on ebay and gave the money for chuck when he was in the hospital. the money for this is supposedly going to his mom too. I think it's very cool.

IMMOLATION frontman Ross Dolan is the latest musician added to the list of guest performers set to appear on the forthcoming DEATH tribute album currently being put together by former DEATH/TESTAMENT guitarist James Murphy, ex-MALEVOLENT CREATION/SUFFOCATION drummer Dave Culross, ex-MALEVOLENT CREATION vocalist Brett Hoffmann and CKY guitarist Deron Miller.

As previously reported, SLIPKNOT guitarist Mick Thomson and bassist Paul Gray have both been confirmed as "major contributors" to the forthcoming CD, while former DEATH/MASSACRE and current SIX FEET UNDER bassist Terry Butler will contribute "some bass tracks" to the album, which is tentatively scheduled to be recorded beginning in mid-to-late August at SR Studios (MURDERDOLLS) in Des Moines, Iowa.

The exact track listing for the as-yet-untitled tribute CD is currently under wraps. However, the following cuts are definitely set to appear on the effort, according to Murphy:

01. Land Of No Return
02. Forgotten Past
03. Lowlife
04. Lack Of Comprehension
05. Jealousy

Murphy, who is spearheading the project and is the primary beneficiary of the funds raised through the sales of the album, has yet to secure a label deal for the tribute CD, which is expected to surface in early 2004. If the project fails to get picked up by a label soon, it will be financed by the band itself and sold to small distributors and online stores and web sites.

James is currently receiving treatment for a massive brain tumor with which he was diagnosed in August 2001.

Tardy had a unique voice, and was a good death vocalist, but he's since been pussywhipped and is out of the game.

Actually the Decapitated cover is much better, the guitar tone is more
chunkier than Slayer raspy distorted guitars. All my Death/Black Metal friends
agree that the Decapitated cover's better. But Slayer are legends.
