Here's a start.
Ionian or Major scale is happy, uplifting, and cheerful. e.g. Metallicas "Hero Of The Day"
Mixalodian is happy as well, but a little more rock or blues sounding. e.g. Iron Maidens "Number Of The Beast"
Aeolian or Minor is dark, somber but still very melodic. e.g. Black Sabbaths "Paranoid"
Phrygian is darker than the aeolian, and somewhat "heavier" as well. e.g. Metallicas "God That Failed"
Lorican is the darkest of the seven note based western scales, and is somewhat atonal sounding. e.g. Black Sabbaths "Black Sabbath"
These are the most common scales used in western music.

Well maybe more evil then dark, but it definitely doesn't make you think of sunshine and lollipops.

im kinda liking harmonic b minor right now....but its more of some kind of arabic-ish feeling(but still a bit evil) to it

One major part of the "evil" sound I think you're looking for is the use of "out-of-key" notes, at least IMHO. Try leaving out notes, or adding notes, or moving them around. Then just use them for what you need, and learn to avoid what sounds bad.
For example, a song in A minor could use an E phrygian scale, I think (please correct me if I'm wrong). To add a more evil sound, you could raise the septim (seventh note of scale) by one semitone. And you could leave out the third and the sixth, and keeping the seventh sharp, to get a more bluesy type sound. However, you would not be able to hold some of these notes for a long while over certain chords. For example, holding the sharp seventh over an A minor chord would not sound too well.

Gore and demons eh? Well how about the half/whole step scale:
In the key of A:
|--------------------------------------------------11-12-14-15-|
|--------------------------------------10-11-13-14-------------|
|----------------------------8-9-11-12-------------------------|
|------------------7-8-10-11-----------------------------------|
|---------6-7-9-10---------------------------------------------|
|-5-6-8-9------------------------------------------------------|
In E from 1st position for some low register riffs:
|---------------------------------0-1-3-4-|
|---------------------------0-2-3---------|
|---------------------0-1-3---------------|
|-----------------2-3---------------------|
|---------1-2-4-5-------------------------|
|-0-1-3-4---------------------------------|
And in E from the 12th position running up to the 24th position for some leads:
|-------------------------------------------------------------18-19-21-22-24-|
|-------------------------------------------------17-18-20-21----------------|
|-------------------------------------15-16-18-19----------------------------|
|-------------------------14-15-17-18----------------------------------------|
|-------------13-14-16-17----------------------------------------------------|
|-12-13-15-16----------------------------------------------------------------|
Mind you, the best way to create an evil sounding riff is to add a few (or alot) of notes or chords which do not belong to the scale you are using.

that half/whole step scale you're talking about is the diminished scale...
and yep is a little dark.
a little weird is the tonal scale
ex. in E:
e|--------------------------------------------------------12-14-16---
b|-----------------------------------------------13-15----------------
G|--------------------------------------13-15-------------------------
D|------------------------12-14-16-----------------------------------
A|---------------13-15-------------------------------------------------
E|--12-14-16----------------------------------------------------------
(well, you can traspose it 1 octave low)
e|----------------------------------------2-4-6----
b|--------------------------------1-3-5-------------
G|--------------------------1-3----------------------
D|-------------------2-4-----------------------------
A|-----------1-3-5-----------------------------------
E|--0-2-4--------------------------------------------
with this you can create really demonic riffs
And a really heavy mode is the phrygian. But do what chad said, add notes outside the scale to add heavyness.....

How do you do when you want to take the scale up to abouth 12th to 15th fret? Do you just move the whole thing?
Take the Aeolian scale in A. If i wanna go up to the higher frets do i just move the whole scale up and do the exact same position? And, when I make leads and solos moving up to higher frets, if the song is written in A, must the lead also be made in A? Or can I go from A Aeolian til E Aeolian?

Personaly I think its up to you on whats evil sounding, or has a more happier sound than others. I think the Blues scale is one of the most "Evil" sounding scale, cause you can add some crazy cromatics with it, and get a really fast dark sound with it (well thats my oppinion).

No. You just have to mantain the scale notes, not the position...
example in A aeolian:
|----------------------------------------5-7-8---10-8-----------------------------------------------
|--------------------------------5-6-8------------------12-10-8-----------------------------------
|--------------------------5-7--------------------------------------10-9----------------------------
|------------------5-7-9--------------------------------------------------12-10-9------------------
|----------5-7-8---------------------------------------------------------------------12-10----------
|--5-7-8--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------13-12-
etc
