Could someone explain dropped tunings to me I want to have a go at Eb so I can try some serious thrash.Does that mean I tune a half step down on each string.I have noticed some dropped tunings are only on the low E string and others are on all the strings. Any type of help would be most helpful.

Dropped D = drop low E string to D, thats all
1/2 Step Down (Eb) = Drop every string 1/2 step down(1 fret)
1 full step down (D) = Drop every string down 1 full step(2 frets)
ect ect...

ok, your in standard E i'm assuming.

if you have a tuner, tune the low E to D# to make it 1/2 step lower...then do the same with all the strings. Or, if you don't have a tuner, place your finger on the 4th fret of the B string and tune your high E to that. Then tune the rest to that string. To go down 1 step, place your finger on the 3rd fret of the B string and tune the high E to that note. 1 1/2 steps, 2nd fret B, tune to that note.

Drop D is only the low E tuned down 1 step. So tune it down til the 7th fret on the low E sounds like the A string.

the way i tune down to Eb is tuning my guitar to standard tuning, then hold down the 6th fret on the top E, and tune it to sound like the A string, then tune the rest down with the newly tuned top E (now Eb).
