The bad production of burzum is what makes it... I heard a cover from one of those albums and it didn´t sound at all because there was no background noise...

that's my list so far.

One of the best sounding cd's i have is 'plainfield cemetry' by 'deranged' i can't really think of the 'worst' produced album ive heard but off the top of my head i'll go with '1349's new album, but the production doesn't really bother me unless u can't make out the music or something obviously, because i think the production adds to the character of the band and music. Immortal's pure holocaust for example, some people may say it has a shit production, but i love it cus it sounds evil as fuck!!

The way 'bad' production works with Burzum is that it gives it an atmosphereic(sp?) grim, evil, necro, feeling. It works with the music and makes the music even more powerful.

Good production: Anything out of Abyss studios.

I find the production out of Abyss kind of flat and lifless. Sure, all the instruments are clear, and it all sounds very nice, but there is no grit or feel behind the sound. Except for Immortal and Enslaved though.

My favorite production jobs:
Carcass - Heartwork
Mayhem - De Mysteries (sp)?
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales
Sameal - Worship Him

My least favorite:
Krisiun - Ageless Venom
Metallica - St. Anger
Cradle of Filth - Cruelty and the Beast

I still own all three of those. The production did'nt ruin Ageless Venom and Cruelty and the Beast, it just seemed to keep them from being as great as they could have been. St. Anger's production just made a bad thing worse.

First off, I think the point of St. Anger's production was to sound shitty and raw, but anything that Bob Rock has anything to do with can't be what it was meant to. But what do I know, I 'm just a simple sandwich salesman. Anyway...

well i see that everyone understands what i was trying to ask now. and everyone is saying the same thing about st. anger. i just read a interview with bob rock and he said that they did the drum check in 15 minutes for the recording!!!!!! also he said that if you were to put on headphones and listen you can actually hear fuck ups and edits and punch ins and parts where guitar takes were edited togther and they dont match!!!!!

the kick and snare to close togther in frequincy to be seperated and it is all high end and no warmth and no low end. very shallow with no depth. dont get me wrong it is clear and everything can be heard.

2 drums???? well you can only hear those "2 drums" throught each song on the entire cd you ass. to answer your quote,yes,and lack of fullness in the low end. being a recording engineer(yes,jesus does it all folks)
i can understand(and hear) the needed relationship between freq's between a kick,snare and bass gtr. this cd lacks any of that insted the kick and snare are very close in Q's in the top end and to my ear that sounds very bad. to me the kick and snare sound like 2 snares almost.

first off, i want to say that the last two dying fetus releases sounded great, their earlier stuff may not sound as good, but its dying fetus, it still kicks ass just for that reason. and i don't think that st. anger sounded absolutly terrible, but it was pretty bad for metallica.
