Painful Fingers
the ends of my fingers are fucking killing because i've been playin my guitar none stop now for fuckin ages. They allways hert real bad when i have to do a lot of sliding and shit like that. Is there anyway of hardening up the ends of your fingers etc? please help

How long have you been playing guitar?? If you're constantly playing your fingers will develop caluses and they'll stop hurting.

Right when you get out of the shower, play guitar. (play when your fingers are all wrinkley). Then, play for a long time and that'll develop caluses. It'll work even faster if you play with thicker gauge strings or an acoustic steel string.

i played a steel string aucoustic for awhile too and it made ma fingers calloused in no time

This is what I did, and sometimes still do. Light a candle and after about 20 mins when the wax is nice and hot, stick all your fingertips in the wax (even the picking hand for fingerpicking). Do that twice aday for about 2 mounths.

I remember when I just started playing, I could play for hours and then my fingers would be really sore. But after six months I had calluses that I could stick pins all the way through and not feel a thing. Now after years the only thing that sometimes gets me is my wrist. But I always had callus prone skin to begin with.

i dunno why but i never got the pain in my finger tips.. ive been laying for a year and a half ( i think i posted somewhere that i've been playing for 2 years but then i came to the realization that it's only been a year and a half). the callouses just came. i think playing chords that involve 4 fingers on an acoustic is your best bet. and darko: candle wax????  now if only i can get my hand from beconing sore after intense rounds of barre chords, perhaps someone can help me there? |

Candle wax works great for working up your callouses. For your aching hands, its just your hands developing muscles. You can get special workout tools for your hands spesifically made to increase your hand strength. Although that wont stop your aching.

a tip!
if u have an acoustic guitar with nylon strings u can practice scales and shit there also.... that will help make your fingers harder rather than make then bleed with the steel strings on your electric guitar

it all just happens over time ur tips of ur fingers will harden it just mite not happen as quick as others and same with ur hand after playing barre chords after time u'll be able to play non stop barre chords for hours

since i started bass before guitar, i had callouses before i even touched a guitar. But as a finger work out, to play better, i'd play about 15-25 minutes of bass, then i'd play some hard guitar parts.

i had that problem when i used 9's on my guitar.
after turning to 10's, i never had that problem again.
so think about getting thicker strings.

Yeah, cause I headbang while I do, and I can't really "Jump" (haha ) like VanHalen in a dorm room, so I just walk back and forth....haha a couple days ago I was jumping up and down on my bed, with my pants down and my roommate came in when I wasn't looking, hahaha.
