I'd like to feel compelled to stick up for my fellow Englishman but unfortunately, Goth Metal, I can't because you've taken everything as if it's a personal attack against you. It's not, but you've still provided a vociferous defense and as a result, ironically, it HAS become personal against you.
I wear mostly all-black clothes and to the uneducated, I may well be considered a goth wherever I go in Liverpool but do you know what? I don't give a flying fuck because I don't consider myself a goth just because I wear black jeans and a Morbid Angel T-shirt.
What other people think doesn't concern me in the slightest and I would go as far as to suggest that the only people who are concerned with how other people perceive them are the people who make a conscious effort to dress in a certain way.
Not giving a monkeys about what people think allows you to loosen up a bit and accept that this thread is just a bit (OK, a LOT) of harmless fun.

It is all your fault, you are so mean, and have a strong hatred for humanity. I once thought we should embrace everybody, then I came across people like you and I thought why? You are all horrible people, this reply isn't meant to make you realise your errors. It is simply to correct falicies, and misguided youths like yourselves. I have never seen such disregard for humanity and stupidness, I have mentioned this before but you are all stupid idiots, who are in effect sheep. Conforming to one anothers thoughts, and the reply about that guy who said manson, is exactly what I mean.
There is one more thing I would like to clear up, do not judge goths by mall goths, baby goths and mansonites. These I can assure you are not goths, and this is the only thing that I agree with on this thread is that they are 12 year olds, who are conforming and have no opinion and most probably like nu metal. But for true goths, and 'old skool' goths excuse the term, we are totally different we don't like nu metal, or marilyn manson, *shudders* he disgusts me. So I hope I have cleared up some things. No offence is taken by your silly remarks, feel free to call me an idiot as I'm sure you will. I am not usually like this, I am sure you are unaware most goths are pacifists so I am sorry for calling you all idiots, it just annoys me when you put me in with grebs and nu metal kids and wannabes they just make me sick. But i think the "non-conformist" attitude is associated with high school mostly.
Kids don't wanna (or can't) be the jocks, so they need somewhere to fit in.
So you've got your basic high school choices (note the stereotypes  ):
Jock, Goth, Metalhead, Nerd(guess that one's not really a choice), Skater, Wigger, Prep and Stoner.
I think that's pretty much it.
Once most reach grade 11-12 they realize the stupidity of these cliques and evolve into a person.
During my highschool years, i myself was your average metalhead/stoner.

I dont think that cliques exist anymore, either that or they have been mixed. I see myself in several of those groups, Im varcity hockey/soccer (Jock), Metalhead (given), I wear north face and abercrombie "prep", and i smoke weed. I think the ones that are most mixed now are prep/jock/stoner; at least thats the way it is in my school

I don't consider Nightwish a power metal band. I don't know why they're considered power metal in the first place. I consider them a gothic metal band. And they fucking suck.
Man, the gothic subculture has expanded to include so many different attitudes and musical tastes. So I don't really know what to think when I see a chick with a spiked collar and a black dress. She could be a posercorpse, a dark poet, or just a sex freak. Who knows. There's a shitload of them on livejournal, and I've only seen like 4 or so that are truly evil fucks. Generally, though, I consider goths to be WORSE than the society that they claim to hate because it betrayed them/hurt them/did something super evilly bad to them.
First, there's the fake black metal posercorpses (cradle, dimmu, etc). They think they're evil, but they're not. They're generally depressed and have mental problems. They may along the line evolve into:
True black metallers. The really evil ones. I don't think there's many around, especially in my country. I've rarely seen any on the net.
Then there's the gothic metallers. See first type, but replace 'evil' with 'poeticly dark', or something equally stupid.
Then there's power metallers. There's the short-haired, baggy pants wearing ones with blind guardian shirts and inch-thick wallet chains that drag on the ground, attached to flame wallets. Then there's the ones with stupidly long and wavey 80's hair, wearing jeans that are so tight, they squash their genitals and can barely even walk (this explains the high voices that make them sound like gnomes on crack).
95% or so are of the depressed/angsty stereotype who hypocritically support (and create!) the powers of decadence in society that they've been affected by and are so angry about in the first place, which is why I consider them worse. They're weak crybabies. Of course, quite a lot of society is this way, but the percentage is definately higher in goths.
Just look at all the bands that exist and how many of them have a negetive influence on the self. The depressive ones. Too many. The newer generations of metalheads (and not just metalheads!) are unconsciously becoming depressed and forgetting what Metal is about (we underestimate the power of music on our mood). The big corporations are promoting these depressive bands because the young and depressed can relate and connect with the whiney lyrics and buy the CD. They're recycling the same old garbage because it's proven to be popular and they want to milk every last cent out of the people before they move onto something new. |

I was sitting out in the grass outside our mall waiting for a ride homw when my car broke down and was people watching. There was these 2 girls that looked about 14 and 16 with goth stuff on acting soooo stupid. And the one had a bunch of dangly chains on her pants. I was quite a distance away but could hear them clanking on the side of their car. I bet her paintjob on her car is really dinged up. I couldn't help but laugh at 'em they looked so dumb, but I was thinking, umm, someone really needs a beatin'.
