DOD, BOSS or ZOOM
For distortion pedals, what do you rate more: the DOD Death Metal, the BOSS Metalzone or the ZOOM tri-metal?

Really, none of the above. But since that's not what you asked... I'd toss the DOD off the list, and test out both the Boss and the Zoom. The Zoom's supposed to be a very versatile pedal with a lot of different (and good) tones in it. I've never been a fan of the Metalzone, but I can't justify recommending the Zoom, as I've never heard the bastard.

I disagree, I have a DOD Death Metal Pedal and it works fine. Like any other pedal you must tweek the settings to get the sound you like. At first I didn't like it but in conjunction with my 100w Peavey Tube Amp it kicks ass. I chose it because it offered more low-end than the other pedals in its price range. It is also extremely versatile, I can go from absolute death metal to a Metallica-esque sound in a few slight adjustments.

I don't like the ZOOM at all, I tried it once and never bothered to try it again, the DOD is hard to find here, but a friend of mine played it and told me it was pretty good, I didn't play on it myself...
The boss is neat, like all boss pedals, pretty darn good, it's versatile, sounds good, bla bla, I'de go with a boss, but I'de try out the DOD first... since its the one I didn't hear myself.

Yeah go with the ZOOM. I have it myself and it's very versatile. This versatility also brings some really nice sounds.
