Flat ride
i just saw one and it just made me laugh, it looks stupid. But when i played with it i found out its not that bad at all. It just stinks you cant go for the 'cowbell' sound.
any experience with playing a flat ride people?

flat rides are real good cymbals...just not for metal. its made for small jazz combos because it has a darker tone and therefore doesnt get too loud with the smaller and lower volume groups. its really not good for metal or hardcore though...just cant get loud enough and it doesnt have the bell like you said

What would be good cymbals for metal? Sorry to kind of change the subject here, but since you are talking about cymbals I decided that I should just go ahead and ask.

I think I am going to go more towards Zildian cymbals. I have to look around for a set and see which is best, because I am going to jsut get the set thing with everything in it because I am just starting the drums now (still going to play guitar) and I don't need something really expensive since I have no money as it is because of motocross.

That sucks man! I would be pissed as hell if that happened to me. I will make sure not to buy one of those. But I still don't know what kind of cymbals to get.

make sure they arent too small, you must be able to hear it. But not too big too. I shouldnt sound like a crash. i dont know your geometric system, but i'd say 20/30 cm will do fine

Where could I buy them at? Do you know a mail ordering place over the net that would have them? Also what about those Paiste 502+ cymbals, does anyone know if they are good for like death metal?

Paiste's Rude cymbals own, they are really good and last a long time. I suggest you dont buy Solars from Sabian, had em for a year and they oxidized already and are starting to crack. Keep an investment for better cymbals, dont start with shit like i did.

Alright sounds good. Thanks a lot, I will have to save up for those things. Right now some guy game me some no name hi hats and crash and a Planet Z crash/ride. I don't have any money at all for none right now, I might look for some used one's that someone is trying to sell or something.
Thanks again though.

since you say you pretty much suck at drums and you are a starter why save up for expensive stuff, it'd be better just to buy some old cheaper stuff and practise till your good enough for the expensive stuff. save's you alot of money
