Mesa Boogie Rectifier Recording Preamp
Hi,
i think im gonna buy the Mesa Boogie Rectifier Recording Preamp because :
1. i want a new pre amp to play live and mesa boogie 's ones are my favorite
2. with this one you can directly record you on your soundcard (for example) cause there is a record output specially made by mesa boogie (it is not digital modelisation like pod but a mesa boogie technology) that 'simulate' a power amp and a 4x12 cabinet
the preamp is the same one of the dual rectifier the sound is excellent !
does anybody have the Mesa Boogie Rectifier Recording Preamp ??
give me your opinions thanks !

weell thnx anyway, is it alike to a rectifier head?? if u or anyone else knows
cuz i love the sound ive heard from tripple rectifiers, dual is the same if im right, just 50 watts less. so if this sound alike, i might save up for it, since im gonna change my gear anyway

You have an engl, you don't need a new amp.

we;; dont get me wrong here, i like my engl, but it isnt IT, i can get some awesome necrophagist tones from it, but for stuff like cryptopsy, it isnt it since i play a lotta necrophagist at the moment im ok, but im seriously thinking bout selling it, its a nice and verry good amp, but its not even half of what im looking for, and there should be a amp that gives me than this engl has to offer, see what i mean???

I'm sorry, but that mesa is going to get you no where near necrophagist, the savage has you more there than that mesa will. Have you tried using a 4x12, with say... Vintage 30s celestions?

nope i havent tryd that, not gonna either, and im not specificly looking for necrophagist tone, cuz to me, it fits necrophagist but no other metal band sounds good with it, if i play cryptopsy it sounds like shit on my engl (tonewise), same for every other band i play.

i just got new tubes 3 days ago, its sounds much better now, but i need something different soundwise, i like the sound for solos a lot, but im missing some setting options, it either sounds good for solos or good for lead, so im getting stuck there see?. i cant get a good setting for both i dunno. im not sure yet though, il have to try some other stuff out too ofcuz, for the mean while the savage wil do fine, but there must be some amp that has MY sound

You can also use the setting you use for rhythm and get an eq pedal. and set the eq pedal to your solo sound. and when you playing rhythm and want to play solo, you can just hit the eq pedal.
If you know what I mean

I think you should be looking for your sound rather than another bands... But if you want your sound plus a bunch of different ones, you may find it in one of the higher end line 6 models.

i am trying to find MY sound, but the only sound i can get is a necro tone, wich i like, but only for a few songs, the tone doesnt sound nice for anything else, and sonce i cant write necro alike music, there isnt that mush use in the amp for me. and i think a recto wil have my sound (atleast more chance to that than a engl) eventhough i like my engl tone, damn nvm, confusing story

oke to clear up my post above, im not completely satisfied with my sound, i like the sound i egt for solos, but since theres 1 channel that gives distortion im missing one for the the rythm settings.
and i just found out that the mesa recoprding preamp has 2 chanels, so thats not gonna be it i guess, i need 3 or so whatever

solution. by an ernie ball passive volume and a maxon od808.
that's what i'm doing with my splawn... if you need a gain boost/tigher sound, kick the 808 on. and anywhere in between adjust the volume pedal to reduce or add gain. pretty much making the amount of channels that are actually on the head irrelivant because you can just play with your channels, the boost, and the volume pedal(gain).

you'd have a clean channel... if you wanted it any cleaner, roll the volume pedal down a little. if you wanted it grittier roll it up. and if you want a light crunch, kick the 808 on.
you'll have a distortion channel. need less gain for a lighter overdriven sound? roll the volume pedal down. need an all out heavy chug? kick it up. want even more gain, with an overall tighter tonal character? kick on the 808.
and from there you can pretty much goof with it all until you have just about any gain level you want.

the volume pedal might cut a little low end out the more you roll it down(the same thing as rolling your guitar's volume knob down). the 808 can change the tone or just add gain depending on how you work it.
just gives more tonal options.
