Question What pedal to buy?

I'm thinking of buying a distortion or effects pedal (£70 max) but i dont know which one to buy. I'm looking for a pedal that can produce some evil sounding effects and heavy distortion? Does anyone have any ideas?

hi guys , i just registered in this forum and it looks pretty sweet ...

about the distortion pedal , if u want a heavy sound for death/thrash metal , then id suggest u go for a boss metal zone MT-2 ..... or onother good distortion box pedal .
coz if u want a multi effect processor ........ the distortion in these suck .... specially if u want something less than 100 $ , u will end up with a zoom , which has probably the worst distortion sound .
as far i know , the boss metal zone has the best distortion sound ..... ofcourse aside from the mesaboogie tube amps !

cheers.

the DOD death metal is really raw and loud.. I think it should be renamed to the Black Metal pedal

I agree with the new guy, don't get a CHEAP multifx pedal, they do sound like shit most of the time, ofcourse expensive multifx pedals sound better, like the Boss GT6.
But I kinda prefer analog fx pedals.

the MT-2 is pretty nice, I prefer it over most distortion pedals, because it is pretty versatile and it does have some neat sounds in it.
Ofcourse, a good amp with a good distortion (Rivera, Soldano, Orange, Engl, Mesa, etc.) are nice too, but heh, I understand if you haven't got the money for those..

ohyeah, welcome new guys, don't post shit, post usefull stuff (especially in gear) if you're posting make it worth it, if you want to say 'hey Boss sucks!' please put down some argumentation and tell us why. I bet you're going to do okay though, welcome.

I can tell you why i think the boss metalzone sucks in my opinion Def.
1) It sounds too thin for my tastes.
2) You get what i like to call the "bee" noise.
3) Theres nothing that sets the tone of the metalzone above any other distortion except the bee noise and the lack of a full sound, so if you like a distiortion that isnt smooth in anyway at all, this is it for you.

It just doesn't fit my tastes in any way at all, and I have trouble comprehending what people here in this pedal to like it at all.

I could see people buying the H&K warp pedal over this......but people still love the metal zone......or Mesa Boogie has the tubed rectifier pedals out...why do people pick the metalzone over these pedals? I do not understand it.
