Yup, all depends on personal preference.
I'm getting an american jackson, they are sweet as fuck; I've played a Kelly model and it was SOOOO FUCKIN SWEET..
I've played Parker Fly's and they are fucking incredible. Light as hell too.
BC Rich's IMO suck ass... maybe it's because of the fat necks... But I hear it takes 2 years just for them to manufacture a custom guitar..
Fender's are really nice too, Stratocasters have incredible sound.. but not my style.. maybe one day.. and i'll probably have a floyd put in 
I haven't played a PRS, so I wouldn't know..
Ibanez SUCKS.. I've played high end Ibanez's too.. and I just think they are crap..
Haven't played a Gibson high end.. though low end gibsons are ok.. again i don't like the necks..
My friend has an extremely nice Krammer guitar.. if only he knew how to play..
Squire sucks
Epiphone sucks
Yamaha sucks
I dunno.. I've played a lotta guitars, and my personal favorite would be between the Parker's and the Jacksons..
Unfortunately, Parker is a little TOO expensive for me.. |

I say BC Rich for metal looks but Jackson's are the best.

You guys can say all you want but if you ask me right now the best guitars at the best prices come from ESP and Schecter. The new Schecter models kick ass and are the best guitars you can buy under $500 bucks. Also, old Kramers are awesome for metal.
But, thats just my opinion

ESP kick ass. ESP and Jackson are my favs for metal. I hate gibsons. Ibanez's are ok. I love strat's with the white necks, i think their maple necks, great for soloing, mostly great for blues. I hate bc rich. Never tried washburns. Parkers are ok, nothing special. Epiphone is ok for its prices, yamaha sucks, squier sucks.

Finally...you are correct sir. I have a Schecter C-1 that I put some Invaders in, it kicks ass. Old Kramer Barettas are sweet, really fast. Ever played an ESP Kamikaze? Nicey nice.
