How many Basses do you own and why?
Ok, i currently own 3 basses, and each one serves a purpose, they are:--
Warwick Thumb Bass B-O
I recently just bought this baby, its real good, its been my dream bass for about 3 years, its got a real low, bottom endy sound, which i go for in bass playing, active pickups, and the harmonics when played stand out really well, most likely because of the double J pickups. very good bass.
Ernie Ball Musicman S.U.B 5 (Custom)
I won this about 3 months ago, its worth 800 quid, plays real nice, because of the huge ass humbucker, its got a real plunky sort of funky sound to it, good for slapping, and its also a 5 string, and its good for metal when the low B comes into it.. cant sell this bass cos its a bit of a Limited edition thing, but i love it anyway.
Westfield P Bass
Hahaha this thing is really old.. 3 years, i started out on it.. shamefully using a pick on it.. (argh) but thats what beginners do so.. ahh well, its really worn in, and looks like the jaco pastorius jazz bass.. the real worn in dented, sort of sunburst look. Im looking to sell it for.. not much money, but it does have some memories.. but it has to go.
What basses do you own and why?

mkay, here goes:
Cort Ab-4 My starter bass, nice round sound but nothing special, passive pickups, but 24 frets, fucked up electronics, now all stickered over and no knobs what so ever, still plays like a charm though and I recently put some new Ernie Balls on it, which gave it a sweet slap sound.
Ibanez SR-5 limited edition Prestige Well, the bass I use everyday, costed me a sweet dime, but it was all worth it, great 5 string, custom bartolini/ibanez pickups, 5 piece neck, mono rail bridge, bla bla bla.
Great for metal allround, amazingly tight sounding B string, warm lows, punching mids, my favorite bass till this day, and I've played heaps... the only downside is, the slapping on a 5 string is a bit hard because of the tight string spacing.
I'm planning on getting a used musicman stingray though. (4 string)

I only have a Yamaha BB1000S. I think that's what it is. It's burgundy, with some black streaks through it. 4 string. It was my brother's, but he didn't end up wanting to play, so my mom bought it off of him and gave it to me for Christmas about 5 years ago or so...

Yamaha BBN4 That's my first bass. I bought it second hand with a very nice Marshall amp. I needed it, because some of my friends wanted to make a band and they needed a bassist. So i done it. It's the cheapest Yamaha bass. But i like to play on it. It's a four string with passive pickups. It had natural finish, but now it has silver sparkle finish with some black tribles on it.
Stuart Spector Design NS2000Q I wanted a bass with an active system. And it was cheap (made in corea, the real basses are made in USA; it's really good manufactured). The unamplified tone sounds like an acoustic bass/ double bass/those basses which are used in an orchestra. it's transparent blue with a maple top. 4 string. And it has a nice thin neck.

ahh, letting out my bass side now.
Fender Black (pickguard-less) Standard P-Bass It was used, and 100 bucks. My very first bass, it kicked ass when i had it, used it for bass lessons. Doesn't work anymore.
then upgraded to a
Ibanez GSR200BK Good bass for its time, dropped it a couple times, works, but i can't jumps around with it or else it fucks up, it starts buzzing and not working. So you kinda have to stand in one place with it. But eitheray, still a good bass.

SGC Nanyo Bass Collection
Pretty rare bass now as SGC Nanyo no longer exist but its fucking nice. No proper model pics of it around but you can see it on http://www.bassistsofdeath.cjb.net/ and then click the 2nd page of bassists, the Immolation bassist is playing it. Its the only bass I have and I play metal and it cool for that so thats all i need at the moment...

I have 3 basses, but my ax of choice would be my:
Ibanez BTB405TP: a 5 string Ibanez with a wide mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, bass wood/quilt maple top body, uses Ibanez passive/active preamp/pickup system, monorail bridge, jumbo frets that are great for bending the strings and faster fretwork, has a nice vintage sound to it, very warm, great high, mid and low end........very tight low end especially as the neck is a 35" scale compared to the common 34" scale necks these days, really adds tightness and tension to the strings even when tuning down and my strings of choice are D'Addarios.

I have two that I use:
ESP Viper 104 : I just got it. It is a silverish gray color to it. It's pretty cool. I just fixed up the bridge on it. You can get pretty good sound out of that thing. I like my other bass better though.
Ibanez edb600 : I love this bass. I have it strung normal tuning with the 4th string being a B string tuned to E. It has really good tone and a very good active equalizer on it. So right now, my setup is sweet, but yeah. I just need a full band to play with.

B.C. Rich Warlock: I'm sure most of you know, but I didn't so I'm going to say it. This bass was made to look good and not to play good. I do not recommend it. I bought it since it's only my second bass and it was a huge improvement from my first. The main problem with the bass, is that it's REALLY unballanced, and I have to compromise for it by holding the neck up with my fretting hand thumb as I play. The bass in it's 'balanced' position is when the the neck is LOWER than completely horizontal, so you have to hold it up. When I tested it before playing, I didn't bother use a strap, I didn't even consider balance when buying
I've tried everything to counteract the lack of balance, the best I've come up with is putting the strap under my belt, which helps a bit. Long story short I bought this bass and now I regret it.

-Modded Fender Jazz
-Roscoe LG 3005 which replaced a Zon fretless. Why ? I don't have the patience to achieve Steve DiGiorgio status.
I'll go back eventually.

Schecter Stiletto Deluxe 5 string with gloss black finish - my first and only bass. It's decent enough I had a choice between this and a warlock, someone told me warlock is made for looking cool only so I went with this Schecter. I'm currently a sophomore in high school if I stick with it untill graduation I can get any bass I want as a graduation present. Was thinking about a Ibanez K5 but I haven't played it or hear anyone play it (except for Fieldy) so i'm not sure how it performs.

Black Ibanez Ergodyne (5 String)
The vocalist in my band owned this before I did, and it's around 5 years old or more. It's still one of the best basses I've ever played, and is remarkably smooth whilst producing an excellent sound for any style.

Currently three...
Currently I own three basses. There have been times I owned 5 at once though. I like trying them out, in search for the ultimate axe. Actually, I now know there is no such thing...
One: A standard Fender jazz. Nice bass, but noisy. Can take a beat though. A little favvy of mine now.
Two: Lakland 55-94 DeLuxe. Yep, I own one of these. Lucky me. The best bass I have ever had. Expensive as hell, but you'll flatten any stage with it.
Three: Some fretless Warwick Thumb. Neat sound, great fretless, but there's only one sound to it actually. And neck-heavy as hell.
I plan to buy a new Esh Stinger bass. But not before I sold one of the above...
SeeZ.

Hahaha, what a moron...I have one DeArmond Pilot....it's pretty shitty, it was my first bass, within a year I hope to have a brand new something or other...possibly a Spector of wooden Ibanez.

Music Man 5 String Sting Ray
This is more of my "metal" bass.I bought it with a low B string and recently switched it out and added the high C instead just to try it out...so far so good.
Fender Custom Jazz
This is a bass that I essembled from other pieces and pulled the frets off of an older neck that I had. I use this for the jazzy stuff that I do.
...I'm looking at buying a Spector Euro5 but those are waaaaay expensive.

Ibanez SRX500 My first bass I bought a couple of years ago. It was used but still very nice.
ESP LTD Standard I bought this a couple weeks ago brand new. This is my pride and joy, great metal bass. I hope to have some pics pretty soon.

Does that have a trough neck? The bass is similar to mine but mine is wooden (you know what I mean). What is the model SR???

yes Trendkill_420 , would be nice if you post the name of the model of your 5 String Ibanez bass. Currently I have one 4 String Ibanez bass and I am interested in buying a 5 String Bass of Ibanez.

I'm not exactly sure what model it is.
All it says on the headstock is "gio ibanez soundgear"

that's written on the headstock of my 4-string too. It's the GSR-200.
But I think that "Gio Ibanez Soundgear" will be written on the most basses of Ibanez. :/
Maybe u find ur bass on the webpage of Ibanez.

Mm ibanez are pretty lush basses, i prefer the SR series to the BTB, i mean the btb's are sexy but there just too damn big!

This is a biased opinion but I advise you to get the GSR905. I have it and I really like the tone. You can tell a bass is pretty good when you can play it unamplified and it resonates loud enough to hear well. Killer sound.

Yeah that's the one.
The link was supposed to take you to the pic of that.

With tax $1200, which comes out to around $900 in U.S. dollars. I don't know but I think this is less than it would cost for an equally-good Warwick. Warwicks are very good but very popular and thus very expensive. So I chose the Ibanez.

Yeah fairplay man, Warwicks are very expensive, and you do have to dish out a lot of money for them.. unless you find a fucking good deal on it, second hand wise, but i bought mine first hand.. and it cost a lot.. but its all worth it.

I currently own one Fender P-Bass.
The reason- because I'm too damned poor to get any more...If I could, I'd get ALOT more basses...around 6-7 more...
