Chiming in with more props for that list. I appreciate anyone's taste who includes Laaz Rockit. Nothing$ $acred is the album that really got me to love and appreciate thrash metal. I'm so impressed with the intricacy of their songs and riffs. It's baffling to me that they're not more well-known because they left such an awesome thrash legacy.

I'd say they're fairly well known among the so-called "second tier" thrash bands of the day, especially among those who enjoy the Bay Area sound, but I do appreciate your greater point. It took me a while to get into them, actually; I tried when I was still a teenager, but the first two albums did nothing for me. At the time it left me with a very Motley Crue-ish impression... I wasn't even sure how they got labeled thrash.
Finally about 4 or 5 years ago I gave Nothing$ $acred a spin and I was like, "hey, this IS thrash. Good thrash, too." Then I listened to Annihilation Principle and Know Your Enemy and fell in love. After a while I even gave the first two albums another chance and they weren't as bad as I remembered. For some reason I never listened to anything after Nothing$ $acred, though. Could be great shit for all I know.

BOO!!
Hey all anyone remember me? Nah, I suppose not
Life has fecking crazy here *sighs* been plagued by violent migraines and trying to get them under control. Been back and forth to doc & neurologist for a year now. Been on different preventive drugs which didn't work now on a course of accupuncture, got another session in a couple of weeks time then that'll be me. To see how things go. Won't be going back on preventative drugs 'cause they don't work. Just taking 3 anadin extra when I get a migraine and go back to bed to sleep it off seems to work. Been off the booze since last year cause of the drugs and now I can drink again I don't want too. The desire to drink has left me. Also am off so much fecking food 'cause of the migraines it's unreal! *sighs* but am getting there slowly. My studies have been put on hold 'cause of them too.
Anyway, just popped in quickly to say am still alive (of sorts). Will try to pop in more often but sometimes real life gets in the way.

Good to hear from you, bunny! I hope they figure out how to help your migraines. I'm glad you're taking better care of yourself, too. I'll write you soon.

Oh, look what I got in the mail today!
| 01 | 02 | 03 | 04 |
| 05 | 06 | 07 | 08 |
Honestly, when I opened the package I thought Gomers had sent me a pair of his briefs. I looked at it from every conceivable angle, wondering how the fuck Germans' genitalia are configured to allow them to wear such a bizarrely-made underpant. Turned out it was an Irishman's Disguise™ - a balaclava which covers everything on the head except for the face. And yes, I tried it on. Smelled kinda strange, like some kind of chemical. I'm assuming it was just blowback from the Zyklon-B fumes at Gomers' last BBQ.
The first pic is how the parcel arrived - with an IRA gunman peeking out from behind the envelope. The possible repercussions of having this delivered to me in this part of the country is something only the Large Hadron Collider could compute.
So, in sum:
1. Pro-IRA propaganda
2. Addressed to a rapist of dead children
3. Printouts of how to make nuclear bombs
4. A ski-mask
5. What appears to be a page from a mentally ill Nazi survivalist's End of Days manifesto (with a Star Wars sticker on the back)
Gomers, I haven't laughed so hard since Dylan's sister shat out of her pussy when I was butt-fucking her while holding her mouth and nose shut with my hand and after I'd packed her ears with cotton wool, leaving only one hole from which turdlings could be passed.

Holy shit, that's awesome. Mail fraud must be incredibly easy to achieve in Norn Iron.
Meanwhile, a couple of years ago in America, I got gipped out of $300+ worth of shit I ordered that was INSURED BY THE FUCKING POSTAL SERVICE.

Are there any new bands that do this kind of music or is it just exclusive to the older guys?

That was funny, Gomers and Paddy. lol
Chris', I'm curious about your problem with the USPS. I have connections. Wish I'd known and maybe we could have figured it out so you'd get your money at least. It's probably too late to do anything about it now.

Cool sticker.
The ski mask does look suspiciously similar to the fabric and cut of boxer briefs. Oh well, just put it on your head and hope for the best I suppose. It couldn't have possibly been close to any genitalia.
As far as I know, and I'm going off of what I've heard from other people because I can't be bothered to listen to it myself, 99% of new thrash is a huge disappointment. From what I understand you're better off unearthing lost thrash gems if you want to find something new to listen to. One name I hear get tossed around a lot for new thrash is Vektor, so maybe it's worth checking them out. I'm sure MTM or Chris would probably be of more help in that department, but that's just my 2 cents.

Evile might the best out there (I miss you, Ol!) as far as the thrash revival goes, but their sound isn't very similar to Laaz Rockit. I think their style compares better with, say, Exodus, Razor, or Slayer. Good stuff, though.
Municipal Waste are also thought of quite highly... again, nothing like Laaz Rockit, probably closer to say Nuclear Waste/S.O.D./Cryptic Slaughter type stuff.
I've also heard some material by Warbeast and a newer Brazilian band called Violator that I really enjoyed. Warbeast only have one album, but I enjoyed it immensely. I have no idea how much shit Violator has put out, I just listened to one album recently and it was good. Have actually never heard of Vektor, will check them out. For the most part, I'd agree that you're generally better off digging up obscure stuff (soooooooo much easier these days than it was when I was a kid gobbling up used cassettes from every pawn shop in SE MA) than spending too much time on the newer scene.
There are a some good bands here and there, but overall the magic is gone. The scene as a whole is lacking in originality... those few good bands make it by on the strength of good riffs, energy, and attitude. If you're not into all that, I'd just go back and dig through the fictional bargain bins at filestube dot com and find some older stuff. If you need a link or two to get you started, feel free to PM me.

I was watching a video clip of Islamic terrorists executing a police officer, but as soon as the clip began I started laughing hysterically.
For those who don't know, when someone is about to be shot or beheaded in one of these videos the killers generally read out a really long-winded statement in monotone Arabic before they get down to business. They're usually clutching a few sheets of loose paper. For instance, here's a pic from the Nick Berg video (it's safe). This video, however, was different:

What I find most bewildering here is how anyone with a working internet connection could possibly run low on disturbing fap material.

And somewhere out there, someone will pay for porn with the aborted fetus. Seriously, how is this a problem?

A few of my neighbor's cars were broken into last night. They took a pair of leather gloves from one vehicle and took my leatherman tool out of the glovebox and set it on the seat. Think it was kids?

Probably... How petty is that? Stealing gloves
On a seperate note, just got into the doom metal band Warning today. Holy fucking jesus are they good. I usually don't enjoy doom (typically just sounds like slowed down heavy metal to me a la Candlemass) but Watching From A Distance totally blew my mind. All of those songs sound like three minutes to me. Moar. Moar plz. Could someone recommend any similar bands?

Warning rules. Watching From a Distance is the only thing they've done worth hearing, though.
Have you heard any Mourning Beloveth?
@Bobbi: I know what happened there. A poor immigrant boy - who escaped an Eastern Bloc Gulag after watching his entire family being slaughtered and used for food by his hungry oppressors - was going to steal your car but when he saw the conditions your kind live in he became overwhelmed with guilt and decided to leave the car and count his blessings. He's probably planning to return to his country to set up a benefit rock gig to raise money for the Ohio pig farmers.

I'll start with the earlier stuff when the mood strikes me.. I was mainly curious about the new scene since some of the old thrash guys seem to still be releasing material.

Interesting you say that... one of the bands I recommended to you, Warbringer, are apparently a bunch of guys from old Texas thrash bands like Gammacide and Rigor Mortis. Had no idea until a few days ago or I would have mentioned it when I recommended them.
Of course, some of the older bands that occasionally re-unite and release new shit drop some decent stuff, too, but overall the best is in the past. It does seem that most of those old thrash bands have reformed at some point in the past 10 years to drop a new album, too.

Do not adjust your settings. We control EVERYTHING!
Edit - Oh, and Gomli, that is one hell of a big step up from that fucking cat.

Nightmare material lol
Gomers, I'm impressed.
Oh, if you guys and gals don't see me after Thursday it's because I'm going to be a solo singer at my ladies group. I'm not getting any younger so what the heck, right? I'm sort of nervous, but sort of not. I just hope my lungs and pipes co-operate. That's my biggest worry.

Chris, are you hitting the bottle again or sniffing glue?
Gomli, the best I can do. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/...zps618132de.jpg And I did very well today.
I got several compliments and was told I sound like Carrie Underwood singing "How Great Thou Art." Half the power went out so we had to search down a plug for my cd player. The mike cord barely reached, and I was shaking so bad I was surprised I could even see my lyrics. It was fun though. It only took almost 54 years to do. I'm worn out now. I'm still trying to process it. I really jumped off a cliff today.
And I was reading a passage from the Old Testament yesterday and it mention Gomer. haha Man, I couldn't concentrate on it at all because I kept getting warped metaltabs thoughts in my head. It was too funny.

Just checked out Warbringer and was pleasantly surprised.. One of the things I did notice is much cleaner production than a lot of the older stuff. Comes with the territory since technology progresses, but I do think the rougher production of the older material does add a dimension to the music that probably will be lost on newer bands.
Would use the word "nostalgic", but I didn't start listening to any sort of metal till the early 2000's.

Eh, same situation with me. With the exceptions of some Sabbath, Zeppelin, Metallica, and Megadeth type stuff (not radio friendly, but radio acceptable), I didn't really start listening to metal until around 1998. I definitely wasn't getting deep into the thrash stuff until the summer of 1998, starting finding all sorts of tapes and gobbled 'em up like a hungry, hungry, hippo. Nonetheless, I generally think that my occasional preference for a dirty production is just a nostalgic thing. The reason I figure this is that it generally only applies to albums I grew up listening to a lot; old Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Nasty Savage, Nuclear Assault, and so on, but NOT any thrash that I've gotten into the past 5 years or so.

Call me crazy, but I enjoyed that piece. I'm a sucker for those Onion-style satirical fake news stuff. It also did a great job of pointing out both the annoying idiosyncrasies of hardcore metal nerds as well as the extremely awful lists thrown together by glossy toilet paper like Rolling Stone.

I think they either missed or absolutely nailed the point with that article. Thing is, is it really metal to immolate yourself when angry with someone? No! Read my damn sig! The metal thing to do is to take the chainsaw and incendiary to the other guy's living room.

I always preferred Liquid Gold myself. The album title alone is metal enough for the rest of the album and it smokes Dylan out of the trees (smoke trees e'ryday amirite? w00t w00t!).
You gotta figure Pretzel Logic ranks somewhere up there, too. I mean, Steely Dan is a pretty metal band name when you really think about it.

I can imagine GY!BE being played over one of the most intense and gripping movie scenes ever created. It hasn't been created yet and I'm not sure what is going on besides some guy getting access to information that someone is trying to keep from him.
I heard some earlier stuff from them a couple years back (I guess that made what I was listening to at least 8 years old) and I got a similar vibe: you need lots of patience while listening to this. Pretty cool, though. I listened to the first track. Sounds like a combination of Nathan Johnson (Brick, Looper), Sigur Rós, and Liquid Tension Experiment.
I usually enjoy more themes in this type of music. Their intros sound like Boards Of Canada. They make me want to listen to Boards Of Canada.

That scene has already (kinda) been created. If you've seen 28 Days Later, when whats-his-face is wondering through a diserted London in the beginning, that's GY!BE playing. You should check out there earlier stuff. And yeah, like a lot of 'post-rock' you need patience but its best not to listen for an end result, just kind of let it take you where it takes you without expectations.

Have you been there? Have you met people on a personal level in Italy? Because I have and I think you and 5th are talking about something else. Perhaps Italian immigrants in America? Neither of you seemed to be so fucked up when I talked to you individually. Bleh.

Just when you think all avenues of humor have been invented and exhausted, someone comes up with stuff like taking potato flinging Irish types on the internet seriously.

Weeell, that often applies, but not - I think - when I also had a good laugh at "closeted turnip" and the like. See here, Paddy, EU just received the Peace prize, and it obviously simply won't work with you inside the borders. So, Bobbi, you take him?

It's not for realses
'Madeus, the peace prize was only given to the EU because of me. What bigger deterrent to illegal immigration or military invasion is there than the fact of my being here? The fuckin' EU should change its name to Patopia™ in my honour.
In other news: everyone missed Bobbi's birthday. For shame. I didn't, I just didn't make a thread because I wanted to have the opportunity to call everyone else on their selfishness when the hour had passed. For SHAME.

Yes, thanks, Paddy. I received the custom tater package from you, and I must say those were tasty taties. I've never seen them quite that colour though. I absolutely didn't expect the text to be from you though. That was amusing.
I will NOT take Paddy though. The last time he said he and his family were coming over here I lost my hiccups, but thought they really were. I'm still torn up about the whole sitchiashun. They won't let him out of the country there anyways.

Aw fuck I haven't seen that movie in a while. That was really good. I'll have to watch it again and listen for that cue. Pretty awesome score for the rest of the film, too. John Murphy.

Did I mention I sometimes hate being circumcised?
From time to time it takes ages for me to cum. Like the other day when I needed 2 hours straight. While my gf came 5 times, I felt almost nothing on the tip of my dick nearly the whole time. Even a normal wank needs like 20mins

I love long fucks. I'm also cut, but I know from experience that I can finish in 10 minutes if I really needed to. I just love fucking for a long time... it just feels better. You cum a lot harder when you hold it for a while, you know? Plus, I derive an enormous quasi-egotistical gratification from making a woman cum an insane amount of times. I'd much rather fuck for 90 minutes than for 10, you just don't always have the time to pull it off. Sometimes you have somewhere you need to be, or sometimes her kids are coming home soon, or sometimes she talks you into fucking her in the woods near her house and you freak out because it's early spring and you're sure people can see you between the trees as they drive by and you just want to hurry up and get the fuck out of there because ONE OF YOU isn't a fucking exhibitionist.
Also, the longer I fuck, the less I feel the need to. If I can fuck for an hour or two, I can be satisfied with sex four or five times a week. If I can only rail for like 10-20 minutes, I'm going to want to bang two or three times a day, sometimes more.
I will say, though, that I find it very hard to finish during blowjobs. Most of the reason is just that none of the girls I've been with were any good at it, but I'm sure part of the reason is that I'm just less sensitive.

Resent issues in this thread... just took a new level of wtf. I never wanted to know this much about any of you.
Only advice I have is be you. I know that gets said all the time but when you find someone that makes you super happy, more times than not, you will be perfect for each other and have no complaints. Gomli, your either drinking, snorting, smoking, shooting, or wanking to much. That or you might be gay.

Yeah, what Souli said. Cripe, when my husband and I first got married- and he was my first, btw- I remember times we stayed in bed for 3 days and only got up long enough to pay the pizza dude. He did accuse me of trying to kill him at times, but I didn't notice too many complaints. Actually none.

Seriously, though, I can't be the only here who likes longer encounters. Right?

I've heard Paddy does. The ones you can throw over your shoulder really turn him on.

Being a 28-year-old virgin with a perpetually ungreased weasel I only wish I would find myself in a situation where my sexual performance could be brought into question. On the bright side it does mean I technically have a flawless track record. Along with my equally flawless track records in eXtreme Kombat-Kayaking™ and cross-country pole-vaulting it's only a matter of time before I get noticed by girls for my consistent excellence.

I remember Waylon said 20 minutes is perfect. I'm with him on that. I've gone for over an hour before and at that point things just need some rest or you aren't in the right mindset/lack the energy. I think energy is the biggest problem for me. My dick says "fuck yea lets do this" and my body is like "goddamnit I'm tired can we wait until the morning". Exercise and finding/creating a happy relationship helps a shitload. Plus I could imagine you could be very confident in your sexual abilities and yet one look at Scarlett Johansson's boobs in bed with her could make you explode all over the room like a sprinkler. So yea.. looks matter a shitload as well.
you WERE talking about sex, right??

Well, the way you described it before made it sound like you didn't have much of a choice in the matter; as though you would finish earlier if you could. I can always finish earlier, I just don't because A. most girls cum more the longer you fuck and B. I'll cum harder if I make myself hold it a few times.

I don't usually get tired from it, but I will if I haven't done it in a while. Like right now, I haven't fucked in about 10 months and I'm a little nervous about how long I'll be able to hold out when I get back on the horse, so to speak. Once my hip flexors get back into the groove of things, though, I'm unstoppable. I figure that will probably change when I get older and start having back soreness.

If you squint your eyes a little bit like a drunken Irishman, it kinda looks like a motorcycle.

I fucking HATE shuffle/random. Why would I want to listen to Immolation, Steely Dan, Soundgarden, Dark Angel, Wesley Willis, Tankard, Gorguts, and Weird Al in that order? Death to random.

Mos Def to Martyr would be pretty ridiculous. I usually drag and drop a bunch of artists I'm in the mood to hear then hit shuffle.. Ambient, Smooth Jazz, and Fusion stuff isn't really that big of a leap.
Normally I just listen to an album all the way through, but that can be pretty monotonous if you just want background music.
so, long live shuffled playlists!

Shuffling a playlist isn't so bad. I make tons of playlists... death metal, thrash metal, instrumental thrash, instrumental death, workout music, sleepy time music, hip-hop, 70's metal, comedy, classic rock, 90's rock & alt. rock, etc. That stuff would be okay to shuffle around a bit just to break up the monotony of constantly listening to those songs in the same order I initially threw them together.

If any of you are in the path of this storm or the tsunami, please, stay safe. Lake Erie has some crazy waves right now. I'm hoping none of my trees fall and the barn holds up.
