Best of 2011
In no particular order off the top of my head:
Bongripper – Sex Tape/Snuff Film: http://bongripper.bandcamp.com/albu...uff-film-7-inch ITS LIKE SATAN IS STOMPING ON MY BALLS
Chelsea Wolfe – Apokalypsis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATWrUIoxRkc (the youtube video says it was released in 2010 but her site says 2011, so I'm going with that).
Gridlink – Orphan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KZb...feature=related God damn this has to be one of my favorite grind records ever. Has the singer John Chang from Discordance Axis on vox, too. Insane screeching intensity and has excellent production. I like my grind with a raw, clean production. The last track "The Last Red Shoulder" slays me (couldn't find it streaming on the net).
Krallice – Diotima: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAIa7D69tb4
Radiohead – The King of Limbs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5c9w6uWBOI Not my favorite Radiohead album at all, but still most excellent.
Tom Waits – Bad as Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6Ta3H-ck6s&ob=av2e I honestly haven't absorbed this record much yet but I know that I love it, and I know that I love this man with all my heart.
Hella - Tripper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W-btmNQL2Y Easily my favorite Hella release. I hadn't listened to them since maybe 2006 and never liked any of their shit with vocals but this album is back to the older Hella style but with much better recording/production. Zack Hill is a fucking maniac on the kit.
Bjork - Biophilia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br2s0xJyFEM - So beautiful. Not my favorite Bjork record but still an excellent release. I wasn't that into Volta so this was a nice return to the more experimental side of her that I adore.
Ulcerate - The Destroyers of All: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbSAU9WlFmk - I first heard them from Wolf and liked what I heard so I put them on the back burner and just now picked this album up. Its great. The riffage is like a spacey brutal mix of Deathspell Omega and later Gorguts and creative progressive song writing. Dissonant, strangely ethereal, and crushing.
Much Anticpated Releases That Left Me With Soul AIDS:
Ulver – War of the Roses: I genuinely dislike about 80% of this record. Such a shame too as Ulver is one of my favorite bands and I was annoyingly-excited about it. However, I didn't really dig Shadows of the Sun when I first heard it ended up as being one of my favorite Ulver releases so I'll try again. This song kicks ass though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPYy6eXsTCc
I'm sure I've got a few more I can't remember. Not much new metal this year for me.

Everyone should post links.
Cerebral Ballzy - Cerebral Ballzy
Punkrock but the non annoying kind. Most blazin'. Proof
Bjork - Biophilia
You cute lil' crazy bitch I love you. Ode to the human voice the way the Mama's and the Papa's "If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears' was, complete with breakbeats coming out of nowhere. Mmmmmmm-m.
ChopChop - Rotten from the Sewer to the Grave
Badass breakcore. Quite a versatile album, dubstep, glitch etc but of course the 100% breakcore tracks take the cake. No link sorry just download it from gabber.od.ua
Cordyceps - Fragmented Structures
Laidback breakcore with a lot of (actual, non-sampled) guitar and bass-guitar thrown in, along with a lot of NWO-samples. Short EP but very soothing listen. Proof.
Graveyard - Hisingen Blues
Holy shit was I looking for an album like this. Probably my AOTY. Brilliant rock and roll with a lot of bluesy tracks for good measure. Totally addictive. Ch-ch-check it
Metal shit:
Adversarial - Prophetic Plain of Abyssal Revelation HOLY SHIT. Compilation of their demo, some new tracks and an Incantation and Archgoat (BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL) cover thrown in. Guitarist C remains one of the most skillful and imaginative in the genre, same can EASILY be said for drummer E. Were worth 4000 out of the 8000 miles I had to travel for Rites of Darkness. MAXIMUM VOLUME
Antedeluvian - Through the Cervix of Hawaah. Pre-prehistorical (sounding) chaos, dense but rewarding album. Lyrics are intresting aswell. Bulldozer of an album. Riffs are sludgy but one a faster scale, drums always have an original and imaginative tinge to them. Turquoise Infidel
Aosoth - III Crowning achievement so far. Ashes of Angels pulled open and stretched wide, tempo's are brought down with slow passages that sound like a guitar breathing in a malicious way if that makes sense it doesn't but listen to it. Not sure if you can get the Variations of Violence-LP anymore, but the altered mix (most obvious in III-5) is a good reason to look for it.
III-2
III-5
Dephosphorus - Axiom HOLY SHIT. Greek "Astrogrind" aka blackened grind with astrological lyrics. Absolutely maniacal album, tracks rage forth and their short lengths (and the insane vocal delivery) enhance the intensity of it all. Collimator
Diapsiquir - A.N.T.I. Long awaited by a whole lot of people. Introduces a lot more "structure" and "singing" even. Still as insane.
Satan in lyrics had to make way for overall insanity anti-socialness etc and a lot of homosex but overall indeed a DIAPSIQUIR album.
Fais le
Mitochondrion - Parasignosis Whereas Archaeaeon was claustrophobic already this album seems more "open" but the excellent production still suffocates your attention when it wants to. The celebration of the States of 10+1 138, their devotion to this made clear in the two "emptied" tracks, Parasignosis is another bulldozer of an album with confusing riffs galore, but all the while there's a definite sense of purpose, structure and thought behind it all.
THE TRIALS HAVE ALREADY BEGUN
Peste Noire - L'Ordure a l'état Pur kind of a "we are PN go fuck yourself" album. Lots of outside influence thrown in (ska, hip hop, ...) but actually done well. Few intentional laugh out loud moments in there aswell. Brilliantly "crapuleux" lyrics once again.
Start listening at like 5.10, ska up your life at 6.40
Ritual Necromancy - Oath of the Abyss discovered this band at Rites of Darkness. Standard but WELL EXECUTED war-ish black/death/doom. THEN the last half of "Consummating Crypts of Eternity" kick in. I actually saw people all around turn their heads and look around in amazement going "what the FFFFFFFFFUCK is going on now".
See for yourself.

Oh man, I was 2010 all over that list. I change my Bongripper submission to Sex Tape/Snuff Film.
It should also be noted that !T.O.O.H! re-formed, though with just the guitarist/singer and the drummer. This is very exciting. There's some live footage online and although boring its pretty impressive and tight.

I like the link idea. I'll get on it. Oh man, that video is hilariously lame. The song was alright (though I didn't care for the vocals), but everything about that video gave me soul fungus. Check out The Casualties for some great punk.
I'm diggin' on the Mitochondion.

Hah those kids are like 15 or summin', give em a break. And trust me, Mitochondrion really is the kind of "dig deeper discover loads more" album.

Yeah I've checked Mitochondion out a few times from your posts and have dug a few of the tracks but just never got around to grabbing an album. I bumped it up to the top of the to-do list. Should I get the newest release?

I opened up for those guys when they made their stop in LA. Very eye opening.
Good call on that Macabre cd.
Sabbat - Sabbatrinity Total Japanese black/thrashing madness. To me, they have stayed consistent with their style without getting boring. This release isn't their best, but it kicked my ass.
Gravehill - When All Roads Lead to Hell They acquired Matt Harvey of Exhumed and his songwriting sure shows on this release. Another ass kicker of this year for me!
The Black Dahlia Murder - Ritual Sometimes I feel that this band is unjustly labeled as metalcore or deathcore. They sound more death metal to me. Their latest release has been spinning in my car stereo frequently.
Flame - March Into the Firelands Just straightforward black/thrash in the vein of Nifelheim.

Holy crap. I've been reading that this band was Incantation worship, which caused me to avoid them like the plague. I think they are WAY better than Incantation!!!!

I'm going to have to throw in Ulcerate's The Destroyers of All. I know its late, but I just started listening to this and its fucking awesome. I first heard them from Wolf and liked what I heard so I put them on the back burner and just now picked this album up. Its great. The riffage is like a spacey brutal mix of Deathspell Omega and later Gorguts and creative progressive song writing. Dissonant, strangely ethereal, and crushing.

Album was received as a letdown as a whole, and while it's less of a "stand up" and more of a "sit down" album (does this make sense? Fuck this 3 liter Russian Standard thing) (for real) it's quite up to par with EiF to me.
Also, some shit I've just noticed as AOTY's:
Slow Club - Paradise
And Teitanblood - Purging Tongues.

I didn't get much new last year, but that album was fantastic.
Here's a question; do EPs fit on the list? If so, the new Blotted Science belongs up there. It was fucking awesome.
