I'm not too keen on the vocals, but that guitar work is fucking amazing. Reminded me that I need to give Symbols of Failure a listen on my new speakers.

I barely kept up with the occupy thing, so I don't even know what's going on with it.. About the only thing I remember is that it was expanding, which is probably true since I saw a flyer for one in Chinatown a few weeks back. I think a gallup poll showed they were pissing people off though, so I don't know if what they're doing is effective, at all.

I liked the vocals up until Ob(Servant).

Merchants of Deceit makes me regret never sticking with electric guitar.

edit:

Symbols actually sounds like the most mature of their albums.. While it's lacking the "soul"(I guess?) of their earlier works, it sounds really clean and polished.. The guitar tone and vocals aren't really harsh and it just comes off as a really polished piece of work. It's just incredibly easy to listen to while having plenty there to keep you interested.

I suppose the main faults with it is that it isn't really colorful at all and I doubt inexperienced listeners could differentiate between most tracks because of this. The sound definitely comes off as being uniform, which I think was intentional. It can get boring if you aren't really paying attention.

It's up there with my favorite death metal stuff

The only Psycroptic record I got into was Scepters. Listening to Ob(Servant) right now and god damn I can't stand the fucking kick drum sound.

Does anyone have The County Medical Examiners' Olidous Operettas and is it really a scratch-and-sniff with the scent of rotted meat or is that just a joke?

When I worked at UPS occasionally those would come down the conveyor belt, my co-worker would pick it up and slam it as hard against the belt as he could. Funny thing is the person down the line who actually loads the product has to sign off on it.

Cool story I know.

Mixed crowd. Some people think free enterprise (capitalism) and money are bad, and want socialism where the government pays for their health, food and shelter costs.

Others simply are a pissed about the bailouts after being screwed with a 15 trillion dollar national debt that is probably impossible to pay off unless EACH American pays their approximate $49k all at once before the interest and spending rise more (gotta remember: about 22 unemployed + babies and teenagers, so it's probably at least $10k more to cover someone else's butt). Of course the real debt is $50T+, if you include social security, medicare, and stuff like that... the money that we owe our own citizens. The people that fit in this country want a revolution, but don't necessarily hate business or money, more so the government for sleeping with big corps. Chroni (spelling that right?) capitalism is what these people are against.

Yeah, definitely.

It's more pointless than just about anything, anywhere, on this forum and just about everywhere else on the internets. I've seen troll threads on sherdog that were more substantial and interesting than anything you've ever typed.

That being said, I'm cool with your inane ramblings and troll attempts as long as they are kept corralled in the RTT and other places where they at least kind of fit.

Your thread had absolutely no significance whatsoever. It didn't mean much to you and it didn't mean anything to anyone who posted here. All you did was ask who America's biggest hero was and attach a poll with a bunch of libertarian or supposedly anti-establishment figures as options. The people leading the poll were Chuck and Jesse Ventura, based entirely on name recognition. The only response was estringrev talking about how stupid all of the options were, and those were the only type of responses your thread was going to get.

Your thread was completely irrelevant, insignificant, and inane. Everything stupid you have to say is perfectly fine here in the RTT. I know you enjoy the rush you get from trolling attention out of people who pick apart your stupid ideas and gross misconceptions, but they don't warrant entire threads.

And add a poll, too! I had a great New Year so far. My grandson went to church with me Saturday to help me set up communion and then went on Sunday. He made new friends and I found him chatting with the minister in the office. He made himself right at home there so that was pretty darn cool. Three weeks with a 13 year old has been an adventure. And it snowed overnight so we can have a snowball fight which was on his bucket list. I'm just hoping that we don't get more dumped on us overnight because he has to be at the airport early tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to that for many reasons.

Personally I think Catch 33 is better but Lethargica from the ObZen record is now definitely in my "Best Songs ever"-list. Dat breakdown/bridge part sounds like everything gets sucked in a black hole and the extreme gravitation just totally erases everything in existence

On a different note:

This guy is totally my icon now :

I sign in on here and see Catch 33 in the RTT????? SUCH A GOOD ALBUM. You have to listen to it all the way through... honestly one of the few albums that I have to listen to from start to finish. Mind blowing. I fucking trip out during the track with vocoding, then it launches straight into one of the most confusing 4/4 rhythms I've ever heard haha. Brilliant.

Funny story... one time I got waaaaaaay too high (super light weight) and so I listened to all of Catch 33 to ease my nerves... keep this in mind for the future, guys.

Jesus Christ, they could have uploaded a better teaser than that. I mean, the song was good, but the bitrate sounded like 56kbps. What the fuck, is this 1998? It's one track, Alex; give us quality, motherfucker.

I'm going to guess that it isn't mixed/mastered. Some sweet fucking riffage in there though.

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm a sucker for Cannibal Corpse so I'm a little biased. I'm very curious what others think about it.

My personal feeling is that newer CC tends to form a pattern of two great albums followed by a somewhat mediocre one that sounds like the accumulation of leftover riffs from the last two. Gallery and Bloodthirst were great, but Gore Obsessed sounded like leftovers. Then Wretched Spawn and Kill were great, but Evisceration Plague sounded like leftovers. If this song is any indication, the new album is going to be great, too, and the pattern will probably continue.

Whoooa don't fuck with Evisceration Plague.
Personally I think CC got better with every album since The Wretched Spawn. The sound on the album was always killer and Rutan is one fine ass producer.
IMO their weakest album was and will always be Tomb of The Multilated. Vocals and producing suck balls. From the Barnes period Eaten back to Life is my favorite, I love his vocals there

I think I own two CC albums, so I can't really say. They are very hit or miss with me with most of it just grazing by.

Nah, they're pikey black Irish gays. There's a difference, although the differences are almost entirely dietary.

I wish slavery was still legal, I'd so buy me a couple of these:

Paddy, midway through that (surreal) video I was thinking about how funny it would be to overdub it with weird voices and obscene subject matter. I then remembered that my friend had just posted this on FB and it was close enough:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHEH1wW-AT4

Patrick's voice makes the whole thing.

Contemplating attempting to get Coachella tickets tomorrow... is Radiohead, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Amom Tobin, Jeff Magnum, Expolsions in the Sky, Modeselektor worth $335? I really only care about the first two. Jeff Magnum would be rad if he played Neutral Milk Hotel but he probably won't.

I never understood why people won't go to shows alone, especially if they're going to regret missing those bands. I actually love going to shows by myself.

Coachella sold out so quickly. I wasn't really into the idea of going, but my girlfriend wanted tickets for a while... until we decided to just pay $80 to see Radiohead in Santa Barbera!

The tickets go on sale next Thursday... so, Dylan, if you didn't get Coachella tickets then I'd suggest grabbing some Radiohead tickets! I've never really gotten excited enough to make an effort to go to Coachella. Maybe one day. I'm just not big on festivals.

Dude! Dude! That's the exact plan I ended up making yesterday. Saw they were playing in Santa Barbara and me and my chica just decided to get tickets for that. We should all meet up. I'm so fucking stoked!

I've been to Coachella twice (I think the last time was, like 4 years ago). It was a lot of fun but festivals are my absolute LEAST favorite venue to see artists in. I think the two times I went was when you could buy one day passes which was awesome, but now spending $280 for 3 days and you only care about one day doesn't seem appetizing to me, especially when all 3 days are filled with blazing 100 degree heat, 70 million people, and expensive food/water.

I've been to a few gigs on my own (Nile and Dillinger Escape Plan amongst others); no big deal to me.

I love the riffs, but for fuck's sake they need a faster drummer! I'm always waiting for Paul to crank out some really fast blasts but I'm always left wanting.

Yes. These are my thoughts. And yes, you should DEFINITELY go see Radiohead in SB... and we'll meet up. It'll be me, my CHICA, and 3 (or more) friends.

Sometimes I feel the same way, but he's consistently written or co-written some of the better songs on all of their albums the last 15 years or so, so I don't complain much.

Seriously. If not a fast drummer than a more creative one. It'd probably make me a much bigger fan if the drum patterns weren't so boring and stiff a lot of the time.

I honestly think you should be more concerned about what a US nuclear power plant needs a battery charger for.

Patrik, we are dealing with Patrick here. And yes, I took delight saying that.

His fiance has the tractor. I don't think their yard is big enough for one or dry enough to use one, but it might come in handy sometime. She used to have a bigger yard and just kept it.

Hey, he's learned the fine art of rubber band placement in class there. Now that he's done with that he gets to play with other stuff.

Gomers, I have to ask, have you seen this?

If so, have you masturbated to it? I wasn't sure if that was a man or a woman, so I looked it up. It's a man, but I'm somehow even more confused than I was before.

Daniel Küblböck...I remember that thing(?).
It's a shame you can't watch his/her first music video on youtube, but if you're that curious look for "Daniel Küblböck - You drive me crazy". I swear to physics that was one of the weirdest releases in Europe. Almost as weird as asian stuff.

And I only slightly masturbated. I mean I tried but it didn't worked out as well as I hoped it would. What a strange night that was

In the computer software/hardware thread Pads and a few others were talking about qBittorrent and Transmission as good alternatives. Never tried them myself though.

qTorrent is a good one, basically because it tries to BE an alternative to spewSplorrent. I was using it for a while (before inevitably going back to shrewBonnet) and was happy with it except for one or two niggles which I can't actually remember at the moment, but it involved the scheduler (or possibly the lack thereof, I forget!).

I haven't tried this myself but it seems interesting:

http://www.bitlet.org/

It just uses your browser as a BitTorrent client, apparently. Not sure how secure that sort of thing is, though, even if it IS done via HTTPS.

Just on the offhand chance that someone here happens to feel like it, I'd be glad for your signature in this. Trying to convince my government that it's kinda oldey-worldey to sterilize people for the crime of not fitting the norm. #Fail.

I was just wondering if disabled people in Scandinavia get sterilized too ?

Signed anyway, it's gross how society's destroying so many unique forms of different personalities and lives only caused by norms and worth imagination

Signed. I can't figure out why - beyond bigotry - a transgender person needs to be forcefully sterilised. Seriously though, on what basis does the law impose this shit? "If we don't sterilise them they might accidentally procreate and have male kids with vaginas or female kids with cocks!"

The surgery is legal and accepted as necessary for those who seek it, but the end result doesn't appear to be. It's a kind of half-assed approach to equality and tolerance, no? Yes, we recognise that you've essentially been born in the wrong body and will help you out with that, but Jesus Christ don't try to act like you're actually a member of our society.

Fuckin' Swedes. At least in Ireland we outright hate anything that isn't a potato-faced farmer, which makes us better by virtue of us being honest and consistent about it! Get with the program!

I really don't know either way about any of those questions. But it's kind of entertaining to see how quickly I myself became toxic in my former party after I started to openly criticize them on this and a few other issues. I fucking hate politics.

With his own fucking guitar strings. It was brutal. But he did get a signed paper from the proper authority, so it's OK.

Have any of you ever noticed how fuckin' gross sugar smells? It's like a fat hick's diabetes-riddled foot dusted down with flecks of dried drool from the mouth of a shit-eating mental patient on a glucose placebo. I think it's the same kind of uninviting sweetness you sometimes get from your hand after you've played with your cock for a while; sure it's better than the traditional tuna-cock hum but it doesn't exactly make you wanna lick it off either given that it is in all probability indicative of some sort of infection. When your wounds smell like almonds you've got gangrene; when your cock smells like a piss-soaked tumbleweed of candy-floss you've got willy worms.

It just struck me as kinda weird that something so yummy smells so densely foot-like.

While I'm on the subject, why the fuck does my piss sometimes smell EXACTLY like Sugar Puffs™? I don't know if they're available outside of the UK, but fuck me the similarity is so striking that I often take deep, gulping breaths when I have a Sugar Puff piss because I enjoy the smell so much. And I don't even fuckin' eat them! I haven't eaten any cereal since I was about 11! Is it my piss or this cereal that needs sorting out? ANSWERS ON A POSTCARD PLEASE.

If your piss smells sweet or fruity, than there are too many ketones in it. Could be a warning sign for diabeetus though. When I got drunk and wake up the next day to take my first epic piss, it sometimes smells like fried chicken and bbq sauce.

I think this all speaks more of breakfast cereals than our piss.

There's this not-so-terrible frozen French Onion Soup my mother used to buy that caused my poop to smell identical to it coming in. I mean it literally smelt like someone was cooking soup in the bathroom. It was truly bizarre and I remember always looking forward to it.

And I don't even fuckin' eat them! I haven't eaten any cereal since I was about 11! Is it my piss or this cereal that needs sorting out? ANSWERS ON A POSTCARD PLEASE.

Here in the states we have Golden Crisp and Honey Smacks, which are the exact same fucking cereal. When I was a kid they were called Sugar Crisp and Sugar Smacks, respectively. I don't know why they changed names, or why they both even exist considering that they're not very popular and taste exactly the same. I mean, fuck, at least Fruit Loops, Trix, and Fruity Pebbles all taste different from each other.

As to my piss, I drink so much water that my piss usually has very little color and no discernible odor except when I wake up in the morning (in which case; amber yellow and slightly acrid).

You know, I've read both of Brian Greene and Hawking's books yet the concept of dimensions beyond the 4th (there's now to believed to be 11 though, if I'm not mistaken) still fucks my brain's permanent holy-shit hymen.

That was pretty cool. We should go on a field trip to the edge of the universe! Does anybody know where to get tickets or anything? I'm sure they're expensive but I like science and stuff so it would probably be worth it as long as it doesn't take forever lol.

Weeell... I'm reading about rocket propulsion right now. Probably only good as far as Mars, though.
