Very melodic guitar riffing. They don't use anything too special. It's just guitars with the basic distortion that most heavy metal bands would use. However, their equpment is all top notch brands.

Thanks for the answers.
I didn't ask the question clearly enough. What I was after was the strange "bouncy" feeling in the dist sound. It's kinda like what I get if I tune my guitar down to G or something, and play on the higher parts of the fretboard.

I don't really know.
I do know that from Countdown to Extinction and on, Dave made sure that every note was played with total precision. That could be a factor.

hahaha... Crush 'em is funny... until you realize that's Megadeth you're listening to. Then it's just fucking sad. Not bad for a pop album, but hardly metal.
And I think GP's right- the sound you're looking for is in the playing/writing.

I agree. I know cuz i bought it  . Their newest album is shit. It sounds like crap, and the last song is like a copy of some old song... (it soundsl like either Am I Evil, or Blitzkrieg, don't remember which). It's sad that this band had to go like that, with such bunch of lousy albums.
Megadeth were moderately cool though, except, Mustaine should never be allowed to sing. He sounds like a little troll...
