Of course, it is. If they feel they've gotten someone's attention and done well they might get a little rush from it.
I remember more than you've forgotten! heehee

happy 2011 everyone
as i said in my b'day thread this year will be very busy for me and i will try to hop in as much as i can but i'm sure you all can appreciate that family and real life commitments matter more than interweb stuff.
may 2011 be better than 2010 *huggs*

I've been shunning my family and forgoing relationships with women for the past 6 years so that I could devote myself full-time to MetalTabs. If I can do it you can do it
May this new year bring you RIRA pipe bombs in the FACE.
YOU BROKE MY HEART, BUNNY. YOU BROKE MY FUCKING HEART. If by "broke my heart" I mean "made me reconsider my sexuality for fear that a tooth-studded fanny will eat my wee man".
Have a fandabbydozy new year, bunster.

Paddy, cutting the cord 6 years ago doesn't mean you've forgone relationships with women. Amháin do mháthair!

That's cool, Gomli. Better than seeing you're going out and getting plastered.

Nah I will be drunk all day but not so drunk I can't walk.
But my birthday is on a Tuesday which makes being drunk all day a little bit complicated especially in school.

Oooh baby, look at this rumored list for Scion's 2011 Metalfest (only Morbid Angel have confirmed so far):
RUMORED LIST OF BANDS PLAYING SCION ROCK FEST 2011
Morbid Angel
Obituary
Death Angel
Municipal Waste
Agalloch
Integrity
Bastard Noise
Atheist
Floor
Black Breath
Nails
Primate
Crom
Wormrot
Kvelertak
Necrite
Woe
Fuck The Facts
Bonded By Blood
Christian Mistress
Don't really know or care about any of the other bands, but I'd be stoked just to see those 4. Its been quite awhile since I went to a good show. I think the last good one I saw was Decapitated, The Red Chord, and Cephalic Carnage.

I dunno, I've been reading some good reviews of your sister's Comin' Down Brown: The Down Syndrome Anal Ping Pong Ball Extravaganza Spectacular show. There's never a dry eye in the theatre by the end of the night. Not sure if Jap's eyes count, although I imagine they do 'cause the Japs are good at maths.

OMG what is wrong with your country There's almost no week/end without a gig I go to. Last band I saw was Mr.Review...that was last saturday if I remember right.
Last really good AND impressive gig I went to was Cannibal Corpse and Lock Up or Arkona, you can choose

I'll be sure to check out Wormrot, John. Thanks for the rec.
There are tons and tons of metal shows in Southern California (especially LA), but I'm just pretty bored with most new metal. I used to attend shows once or twice a week when I first got into metal some 8 years ago but now only go when a band I really dig is playing. Finding a good new metal band is like a needle in a fucking haystack nowadays. Next show I'm going to is Motorhead and Clutch, but I'm mainly going for Clutch. Clutch!

I'm getting a C in English class. That proves that your speaking skill in foreign languages is not relevant in the german educational system. love it

Presently I'm trying to figure out some old German boundary lines. Good grief! You people need to quit all changing around b.s.!! Any clue as to Kerrhessen or Kurhessen later 1800's? Germany? Prussia? My relatives came from there and I'm trying to figure out from what port so I can nail down the ship manifest around the early the 1880's.
I'm saying it in the thread because I know there's some history brains here. I'm just bumping along presently.

I have no idea, but that reminds me how I want to get a dna test/ancestry test one day. According to my family we are all Polish/Czech but I'm dark as shit. So I'm basically wondering which side of my family got raped by mongols, arabs, italians, etc.

Ancestry.com does that dna tests for that for a fee. I've looked at the price list before for different types, but I don't remember them offhand. You might find something about your family there anyways. It's fun. Maybe there's a little gypsy running around your veins.

Kurhessen was a province pretty much in the middle of Prussia. Capital was Kassel (google it ). Only existed in 1944/45. Nearest port would be probably Bremerhaven but that's almost 300miles away from that so I don't know if this helps you

Bobbi, you're dangerously close to unearthing a horrible truth about your family - that you're related to Gomster McGomliballs. Either that or you're Irish. QUIT WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD.

Either way she's probably related to you.
Went to the NAMM show this weekend. It was my first time there and my holy Christ on a pogo-stick was it massive. I walked around for 4 hours and just barely saw everything.

Since the internet and its user base has become so ubiquitous has anyone here ever actually paid for their porn? I don't think I ever paid for it anyway, I usually got "hand me down" mags from friends. Given the number of STDs I subsequently caught I think I technically lost my virginity to those big-titted brunettes with the furry beavers in the 14 issues of "Jugs" I had rolled into tight cylinders and concealed in my football socks during the early 90s *inhales*. Yeah, tru dat.

I did. Well, kind of. I remember I discovered when I was 13/14 that every PPV porn channel was free if I just entered the password my parents set that I had found out when I wanted to rent a normal movie. It didn't really connect in my head that these charges would show up on my parents credit cards. The funny thing is that I did this over the course of 2 months (maybe 2 - 3 a month) and it wasn't until a porn showed up with a title something along the lines of "Beautiful Ebony Bitches Drain Massive Men" (seriously. And hey, I didn't know what ebony meant) that my parents decided to talk to me about it. I denied everything.

Dylan, you should have prepared for such an eventuality as I did. What I did was spend several hours doing pencil drawings of nude men and women, and kept it hidden along with my porn. When I was finally caught rubbing one out to a 70s "big hair" porno I just reassured my parents that I was using the dirty skin-flicks as inspiration for the nude form, because I couldn't get anyone to pose for me, and showed them my sweet drawings as proof. What I didn't show them was drawings of snuff-grade Asian bukkake scenes reminiscent of the opening shots of Saving Private Ryan, which is what I had in the VCR.

I found that video of him from 2010 pretty amusing. I don't know much about him anyway.
Also I finally watched the Town. Awesome movie, the guy you posted about passing away paddy(who isn't Irish but pulls the accent off well), he plays some small parts in it and his accent is dead on to my ears.

Internet porn is what finally convinced me of my asexuality, since it statistically shouldn't be possible for a correctly wired male to be bored surfing the internet with free range in both band width and privacy.
I'm taking a sort of detour in studies, taking a year to complement my master's program with courses outside the standard curriculum. Yesterday I started in a CAD course. Holy shit, I love myself and my decision making! If possible, I'll probably start throwing random screen shots around on the internet within a couple of months. Solid modeling! This shit is so cool! Make a sketch, analyze the situation and find the proper constraints and parameters, do a few (or maybe thousands) of extrusion operations and HOLY FUCK it's alive!
Naturally this will, somewhere along down the road, result in extremely detailed 3D engineering grade models of, in no particular order, a steam locomotive, a naked young woman and the Death star.

Please tell me you really did that.
Ricky can be hit-or-miss for me, but I also thought he was pretty funny in the 2010 GGs.

Paddy, you were supposed to remove the magazines before you put your socks on. No wonder you have stork legs.
Gomli, THANK YOU!!! I thought it was in or around Prussia, but I couldn't figure out what area specifically. I was thinking Bremerhaven, too, because it seemed during that time there were a lot of emigrants leaving Germany from there. My husband's family was from Bremen.

We learned "Silent Night" in Cherokee in 4th Grade. I remember bits and pieces, but not a whole lot and who knows if my memory is even close to what it was.

I didn't, unfortunately, but I just remembered that there was a time when I was about 12 or 13 when I did draw a nude women (copied from an art book I had), and my folks were completely fine with it because it was art (ha, fools!). However, one aspect of the drawing was commented on by pretty much everyone who saw it, including my elderly grandmother. The tits I drew were about 3 times bigger than they should have been. Not only did they not look anything like the model's tits, but they were the kind of tits that generally require an intensive medical drainage procedure lest the woman's spine deforms into some sort of acute 45° arrow affair every time she stands up. I didn't draw them that size intentionally, which is somehow even more worrying than if I had.
Luckily all of the adults in my life just found it hilarious rather than shipping me off to psychiatric camp to be evaluated by ham-flavoured shrinks.

The only Cherokee you'll ever need is this:
"Please white man, stop massacring me in the face! I know you'll give the last 8 of our race a Casino each in about 100 years time, but fuck me this is just unreasonable!"
Pr0az, there's the answer to your employment woes: get yourself a fuckin' Casino! If you do get one can I come over and be the Joe Pesci character? I've always wanted to batter a bald Jew with a phone, and PST is always far too busy chopping carrots to grant my wish.
I used to know a few prayers in Irish, but all I can remember now is the parts which sounded vaguely like references to genitalia.

Dammit, Paddy. You were this close to being my favorite child. Now that blond androgynous boy with the big mouth that lives down the street reins supreme.

Anyone see Tosh.0 last night with the Irish breakdancers? Those little black box looking g-strings must be tough to keep on. It looked like the right side up guy was trying to jam the upside down guy's on repeatedly even though it really didn't appear to be falling off. Tosh said "a country so full of drunks, they still think U2 is a great band." Yeah, I stole the quote off a site about the show, but it seemed accurate. They'd have to be drunk to do that on cobblestone.

There's no such thing as Irish breakdancers, it was most likely a travelling troupe of epileptic playwrights trying to get a gig on Broadway, but because your country is a RACIST it just assumed they were monkeys without an organ grinder wanting to perform for the amusement of slack-jawed yokels from the Ohio pumpkin farms.
RACIST.
P.S. THE BOMBERS NEARLY GOT ME! But I cunningly disguised myself as a Protestant by punching poor Catholic children in the face with gold knuckledusters until they got bored and left. I almost did too good a job though, they offered me a managerial position in the kneecapping department. I was tempted - the hours were flexible and the health plan wasn't bad - but I'm far too noble and lazy for such nonsense.

busted! If you have gold knuckledusters you must be close by, ripping the stringy, seeded orange guts from pumpkins on Ohio farms. Which means I'm moving to Indiana. stalker

PST, your post has subliminally farted "YMCA" into my earhole. May your restaurant be burned down by the mafia. Or better still, may your highly flammable Jew-fro catch a spark from your unwashed cast iron pan.
The Citizens Advice Bureau - a charitable organisation - is a fucking Godsend. I don't know if there's an equivalent outside of the UK/Ireland, but fuck me they're stars. If you're in heavy debt they will write to your creditors and tell them you can only pay a certain amount per month (according to an assessment of your means) and that the interest should be stopped, and the companies have no real choice but to comply if they ever want to be paid. If you're in debt and are contemplating faking your own death or gassing your kids, go see these chaps/chappettes instead.

Tranny, I hope you're meaning like Zevon when he was alive. I have a new found appreciation for those that have had to endure back surgeries though my husband's wasn't typical. Good to hear about the relationship! Great about the master's! I'm curious what it's in, too.
*sigh* I'm still here so what does that tell ya? heehee
Paddy, from my experience what you're talking about is prevalent here. We went to one which was surprising to them because we aren't getting utilities shut off and having bill collectors beating down our doors. Due to that we didn't qualify really. What they were offering us was worse than what we're dealing with now so if you're in a pickle then it's a great tool. Otherwise it's better to dig yourself out if that's an option. They are very helpful though.
Harlem? Are you Bill Clinton's personal chef now? PST, Angel of Harlem.

Do you mean you had to pay them for their services? There are organisations like that here too, but the one I mentioned is a non-profit charity organisation which basically acts as a buffer between you and the creditors. It's not one of those "consolidate your loans into one easy monthly payment" jobbies, they just lay out how much you're able to comfortably pay per month and the companies you owe money to have to accept it and stop piling on the interest and making threatening phone calls. It's not aid - no money changes hands in any direction.

No, no. It was free through Catholic Charities. (No, none of us are Catholic.) I know saying that is just fodder for your smart remarks. They don't charge and the creditors wouldn't, but we weren't in the situation described so they offered options to consolidate ourselves. Doing it their way would have lengthened our debt time frame into years instead of months so we did it ourselves. No money was or would have been exchanged.

There's nothing smart about it! The idea that your kind could ever qualify to be a member of the only correct religion on Earth is downright insane.

Ahhhh I getcha. Actually, I don't, thanks to my 4-inch-thick Hazmat suit and pointed stick dipped in Priest semen for fending off Protestants.

ah interesting. i left toga and dont miss it really, i worked at a nice music store but other than that there isnt much going on there really. theres the one bar, the music store, a borders, and a bunch of neverending townie squabbling. im in albany now getting a masters in information science. albany isnt exactly a big city but its an improvement for sure. usually archivists work on a contract/grant basis and have to move quite a bit an in our area. theres also a glut of newly minted archivists because the school is the only one in a few hour radius. so im not sure where ill end up but i do see a lot of job postings for NYC but i have no museum training.
if i lived in NYC i can see myself going every day to midtown and braving tourists for a beer at BXL. now THAT is a bar.

haha i havent taken a full body shower in 6 months. had a tiny operation in july and the incision rejected the sutures and became infected. at times ive felt more like the dying zevon than the living on one- "the wind" was on constant rotation for a few months.
the wound was operated on AGAIN, excised and debrided, still wouldnt close. i had several nasty tunnels out to more hardware in my spine meaning that the rest of the rods might be or are infected. just about every trick in the book was tried. the tunnels just stayed open and the rest of the wound drew in. i carried a woundvac around for about 3 months and they gave up on that and now the first treatment thats actually worked has been "medihoney." honey from sterile bees. ive made some good improvements in the past 6 weeks and may have dodged another operation. but the wound could entirely close and then reopen if the rods themselves are infected. if you guys thought i complained about back pain before...
in summary: skip expensive medical equipment and put sterile honey in your non-healing wounds

I've heard that honey is a wonderful antiseptic, but hadn't heard of it used in surgery, let alone sterile bee honey. If it helps though that's wonderful. Bees are wonderful little things.
So in your masters training it's for museum work? I can't imagine that would ever get dull since it changes constantly. Are you specializing in a certain aspect of info science there or do you just do what's needed?

One of my best friends had something that sounds similar. He had some major back problems and something was botched in the surgery and he had to go back and fix it, and then the wound never really healed, and it was a roundabout process for a very long time. He missed an entire year of high school from it, I believe.

yeah id be missing college but i cant afford to drop my insurance so im dragging myself through it. essentially what happened was the wound got infected because im allergic to the suture (or the suture was contaminated). then staph got in there. then they cleaned it out and put a wound vac in. tunnel still formed to the rods because the rods, best case scenario, are an irritant. anything foreign in your body irritates the surrounding tissue. this makes healing tissue (muscle and other tissue in my case) over the exposed irritant EXTREMELY hard.
because rods are a foreign body they are also susceptible to outright infection. despite being in my body for more than 7 years , if they are exposed to air or bacteria the rods could become "infected" as in my body thinks they are bacteria themselves. there is no solution to that short of removing the rods. it seems like in my case though that what happened was that the rod got exposed and irritated, not infected, and that slowed growth but didnt STOP it.

honey is a living paste that generates a good environment for wound healing. the bacteria produce a byproduct that is antibiotic in some ways. i believe it produces nitrogen which kills off some bacteria. but its also helpful in otherways. honey wasnt installed during an operation, though, its a daily wound change. it goes in looking like beeswax and when it comes out its melted down like regular old sue bee. its on a 5% calcium alginate base that dissolves inside me as well. im not totally sure on the science of it though so dont quote me. but its a new option in the medical community and it may have saved me from my life getting derailed, endangered or possibly ended. so keep that one in mind, diabetics and other non-healing-wounds people.
im getting a masters in information science. part of the core courses have prepped me to work in a library (if i passed a civil service exam depending on the state im in) but im more interested in working in archives. museums dont appeal to me too much. archives constantly take in new collections, too. im not interested in old history so much for two reasons. one itd be really hard to get a job trying to process presidential collections or something (the line for that is a mile long and populated with people far better prepared for the job). id rather work in digital archiving - if i sell out, i could do it for the corporate world who are generating huge amounts of data they need to hold on to and god knows people can barely keep their email organized - something like metlife needs their own corporate special librarian/archivist.
if i dont sell out my dream would be to create an archive of comedians. most tape their sets nightly, they are important social commentators, often they work on timely subjects, theyre fairly unique to american and westernized countries, and on a personal level i love to track and follow comedians as their sets change. i think in the next 25 years researchers will take standups more seriously and an archive of that kind of material would be as important as a collection of radio broadcasts from WWII.
hah, i sound old

No, you don't sound old. You sound very focused. A comedian archive would be cool since their sarcasm is usually pretty timely.
That's important information to pass along about the way the honey is used. A friend of mine's daughter just had surgery on her spine 2 days ago. She's doing well, but will be laid up for a couple months at least. I'll pass the info to them just in case.
I hope things work out well for you. You're a heck of an inspiration to keep on the way you do.

Got a rent house now. Pretty good I guess, just working my ass off. It's paying off though. Got a nice raise( $550 extra a month) so I'm not complaining.

BassB', do you do reps with that toolbox? Just watch nobody liquid welds it to the floor or a table. I think that happened to eldest son's friend. Hubby hooked up his buddy's to an electrical current when they were in electricity class. Now, years later, Bob works with the guy he did it to.

It's OK, Paddy, it's just that maybe filming and acting isn't your thing, y'know? I'm sure there are plenty other openings for... yea... I really shouldn't analyze this situation too deeply, now should I. Perhaps a blond wig would help?

And very very very specifically, Doug Stanhope's material would shit all over Anne Frank's diaries concerning relevance.
