Paracletus
Wow, anyone acquired this absolute masterwork yet? A perfect synthesis of the last two full lengths. So many highlights it's hard to pick one track in particular but I will say Abscission has probably pulled ahead of Carnal Malefactor as my favorite DSO song. They're all wonderful though.
Edit: Outstanding review here: http://www.lurkerspath.com/2010/11/...es-full-circle/

It is absolute closure. No more needs to be said. Lyrics, music, artwork, everything.
Got it, then played everything from Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice up 'til Paracletus (including EP's, excluding Manifestations). Hefty and a lot to swallow at first, but, absolute closure.

Be sure that you do, but seriously, I really recommend doing so by listening to everything from Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice all the way through to Paracletus then (while reading the lyrics), everything makes a whole lot more sence, details seem much more important, ...
The basis,
The basis, basic concept (Biblical basis) - Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice
Going deeper into specific branches and theories of said basis, clarifying and sometimes paradigm-shifting them, by hand of a.o. Georges Bataille and some hints of Baudelaire - Mass Grave Aesthetics, Crushing the Holy Trinity,
The implications, some reached early conclusions: Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum, part of Chaining the Katechon
The Conclusion, everything falling into place: part of Chaining the Katechon, Paracletus.
Kénôse doesn't count cause it's practically the band getting a bit sidetracked, following another theory (being, surprise!, Kenosis) that sprung out of Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice but not heading back to it/concluding it in later releases.
