TV
That blackened, dried up, prune-like meatball rattling around inside that otherwise hollow skull, occasionally sticking to the beer-brown lining of its rotting, calloused walls, has long since given up hope of ever encountering James Joyce or Wolfy Ammy Mozart except perhaps during the eye of that fevered storm you call your hallucinatory psychosis, although seeing them fishing for chocolate rabbits in a custard-filled volcano doesn't really count as a true intellectual encounter. So, we instead must rehydrate it with the salty brine of sensationalist, emotional pornography. Long story short, TV is all you got and it's what we're gonna chat about in this awesome thread started by me, Paddy.
I think sports, news and everything in between can be left for other threads which are currently doing a fine job of warehousing them, so let's stick to cartoons, drama, sitcoms, documentaries, sketch shows, panel shows and so on. Or not, it's your call! You can talk about Reality TV if you like, but I think it's only fair to warn you that I'll be choking a young child to death with my boiling, effervescent spunk every time you do.

I'll get us started, as is my custom:
The latest South Park series hasn't gotten an audible laugh out of me yet. Has the show really run its course? I get the impression that the show could still be funny if Trey and Matt would go back to the show's roots, instead of sending the characters on these huge, flashy, bluntly-moral escapades. Social commentary is great n'all, but I'd much prefer some comedy if I had to choose between the two.

I don't watch Wednesday night South Park's anymore since Ghost Hunters is on. Although I'm skeptical and can usually debunk what they claim to prove I still like watching them for the locations and storylines.
I think that South Park should do an episode using either them or the Ghost Adventures crew. Maybe have all the deceased characters gang up on Cartman or something like that. I do catch new SP's once in awhile, but I agree that the ones I have seen aren't nearly as funny as the old ones used to be.

The new South Park episodes usually seem to be shat out of some sort of formula. I still enjoy them, but not as much as the old stuff. I am weeks behind on southpark though because I just watch it from the internet.
Has anyone seen the new season 3 Metalocalypse (sp) episodes? I'm actually a lot more impressed with them that the second or first seasons, not to say I don't like those seasons, this one just seems a lot more thought out.

Metalocalypse = greatness.
A million miles from nowhere the dragon lance burns hot.
By the fire of a horse's ghost... a minnow would be lost.
Ch-ch-ch-changes... mmm... uh... tits.
A fish... a fish with tits. Tittyfish.

Cops never gets old. Even the episodes from the early 90's. I dunno, there's something so entertaining about watching crackheads get busted.

I try to keep my TV time to an absolute minimum. Luckily everything sucks so it isn't very hard to do. I follow:
South Park
Breaking Bad
The Daily Show
Kenny vs Spenny
Arrested Development - My absolute favorite show in existence. Its a triumph in the world of comedy and its absolute perfection is the only proof I've seen of a higher power. It also has David Cross.

Yeah, I hate to admit it but this last season has been on the weak side. However, if you look at everything that they have done and how great the majority of it is, its understandable that it must become increasingly more difficult to keep up with themselves. And hell, not everything can be a home-run. Still, I've laughed at a lot of the stuff on the new season but it definitely isn't keeping up with its previous LPM (laughs per minute). But really Paddy? You didn't find the Scroty McBoogerballs episode funny? Last night's finale to the two-parter was a big let down.

They have done shit with Ghost Hunters and its pretty funny. Dead Celebrities haunt Ike and the Ghost Hunters come in to investigate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3OBkB-F368.
You really pick that awful, fake show over South Park?

I dated a girl who's father had been on Cops two or three times. It was coppy.

Haha that reminds me of the South Park episode where Cartman thinks he's dead. Fucking classic.
I've never watched Ghost Hunters, but I've seen similar shows in the past. They're all essentially the same; a spooky location, crystal energy-believing inhabitants and a lot of running around, breathing heavily and night-vision cameras. Does Ghost Hunters feature a "medium" of some kind?

Yeah, they seem to be leaning a little too heavily on established ideas. They're now so predicable that I can usually get a fairly good idea of what will happen just from reading the episode title haha. I think Butters is one of the best characters the show has, and his early peripheral status meant that the writers didn't put too much "effort" into him which is probably why he was so fucking funny, and now that he's a beloved character they try to hit as many marks with him as possible, i.e. his innocence and naivety, his willingness to be used and the fact that the other characters treat him like shit. It's the same with the rest of the characters, too. It's like the writers think these characteristics are what's funny, but that's only about 5% of it.

I've never seen this, but I've heard good things about it. I'll have to give it a whirl.
Robot Chicken has its moments but I've found myself struggling to get to the end of many of its 11-minute episodes, which ain't a good sign

Haha I stand corrected, that episode did get a few chuckles from me. The part where the guy kept throwing up and spitting into the bucket got me going, and obviously shitting from one's own tits is always safe territory for comedy.

I've got a friend who rants and raves about how great that Tim and Eric Awesome Show is and was doing so just yesterday youtubing random songs they did. Some made me kind of smirk, but I'm sure it something you've got to watch while you listen as it was only audio. I was never interested in checking the show out until I saw a clip of them in Maynard's wine documentary playing faux TV critics (or something along those lines) making fun of him and his wine ("You'd have to be a TOOL to try and make good wine in Arizona.")

Dyl, thanks for the link! I'll have to check it out later.
I do remember an episode that Cartman thinks he's dead.
GH doesn't use the usual "spooky" stuff and they basically try to find a reasonable explanation for weird stuff that happens. I'd sure like to know why I keep getting glimpses of small animals near me, but if that's all that's haunting me that's fine. The 2 guys that head it work for Roto Rooter. I know you like them already, Paddy. A lot of the stuff I've experienced and to hear the reasoning behind the stuff makes my life a little easier since I'm the biggest scaredy cat sometimes.
My hubby just said that Matt and Trey are on the radical M's hit list again for another portrayal of Mohammed.

Some mentioned The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margret in another thread. That shit was hilarious. Channel 4 is picking up the series and I couldn't be more excited about a show.
Best stuff on now days:
Real Time with Bill Maher - yea, he is liberal as shit, but he is a helluva interviewer. Love the show and it keeps me current.
Breaking Bad - good show
Top Chef - hot chicks and awesome food. Too bad the second half is all judging. Just watch the first part.
My all time favorite shows (i r teh HBO whore):
Deadwood
The Wire
Rome
John from Cincinnati
Six Feet Under
Carnivale
The Sopranos
etc.
Freaks & Geeks
Ren & Stimpy
Twin Peeks
Firefly (only sci-fi show I really enjoy)
Sponge Bob
Batman: The Animated Series

I would recommend it if you have time.

Yeah that was me. Are they really? Thank god! Id love to be able to actually watch that show. For those not in the know its a new show written by David Cross and (I believe) Will Arnett, staring both.
I enjoy Top Chef whenever I happen to catch it. The last season was good with some solid people in it. I also have a huge crush on Gale Simmons, who I think is infinitely hotter than that skinny bitch Padmay (or whatever her name is). I don't know what it is about her but I'm just incredibly attreacted to her.

South Park
Ultimate Fighter: Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz
O'Reily Factor, fucking bastard barely talks about what I wanna hear, which is anything about pot or drugs in general. It's a lot more interesting than this "Obama, Healthcare, Overseas Controversy" crap over, and over, and over again. Those, actually, aren't as bad as the "Small" controversies, Legal segment with 2 dumb bitches, that shit.
Glen Beck - Fucking asshole, but sometimes I like his brainwashing. He lures me in, just, right, whenever I spot it, that is.
Other shit, Ugly Americans, Metalocalypse, FAMILY GUY, other Fox cartoons, Comedy Central, MMA Fighting, ect.

Do you watch American Dad? I think it's far more consistent than Family Guy, even though it's virtually the same show haha.
The Cleveland Show is probably the worst cartoon I've ever seen. Out of all of the characters Family Guy has Cleveland is the last one I would have given his own show! The bear who lives next-door to him is fucking insufferable, too. I mean, I fucking hate him and his stupid fucking voice with a PASSION.
I don't even bother watching The Simpsons anymore, it's too painful.

I hadn't heard of this until now, sounds interesting. I think there have only been two "serious" TV shows I've watched with any enthusiasm. The first was a British show called Cracker, about a criminal psychologist working with the cops to track down and interrogate killers (it had a brief and unsuccessful re-imagining in the States). Nice gritty depressing drama which gave me an excuse to stay up late on school nights in the early 90s. The second was The Sopranos, a show I put off watching until 2006 because I was convinced it was a shitty Goodfellas cash-in show for chest-beating wannabe gangster morons. Ahh I love being wrong! And I'm so good at it, too!
I tried getting into The Wire, because I'd heard amazing things about it, but I couldn't get through the first episode. I had a similar experience with Oz, although I watched about 5 or 6 episodes of that before giving up haha. Meh, I'm not sure what I actually want from a TV show, to be honest.
Any Frasier fans? I hate predictable, formulaic sitcoms like these, but I've been watching it with my dad and it's grown on me somewhat. It's certainly more watchable than Friends, Scrubs and similar cock-water.

Yes, I DVR that shit. Cleveland show too, even though it is probably the most primitive (LOL GETITZ!!?) show on Fox, not counting boring reality shows.
The only good reality show I have ever seen is TUF, The Ultimate Fighter. They actually got a pretty fabulous gay guy on there this season. He does the lisp, the thing with the back of his wrist against his back hip, EVERYTHING! And this one black guy gets accused of stealing show. Meh, looking back and being a realist, that show is fucking gay, but all TV is a waste of time. Why else would we watch it?
Back to Family Guy, Cleveland Show, American Dad, ect. Seth McFar is a funny guy, but you know what? I'M a funny guy. Seinfeld is a funny guy. Kramer's funny. Ect. It just happens that Peter Griffin, Quagmire, Brian, Lois and Joe are all successful, and fruitful, characters created by the imagination of this one guy. He's made several episodes, and lots of money. That's how you do it. You wanna be like him? Start a web comic, then a Flash series. Adult Swim might give ya $500 for it eventually.

I think Seth reached a plateau several years ago, but up until that point his work was fresh and broke some new ground. That said, his Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy was pretty solid. It's basically the same humour you'll find in Family Guy, but it's like a series of random "sketches" with no real narrative. Plenty of new characters and bizarre situations, and it even features a midget! SCORE! I think you can watch it in segments on YouTube if you're interested.
I don't watch UFC or TUF, it gets me riled up and then I realise that I'd probably die in two seconds in a real fight, and then I just feel depressed and emasculated. And horny.
I was a fan of Drawn Together when I first saw it, but I recently attempted to re-watch it and I didn't laugh once. Fucking shame, you'd think watching a cartoon pig have a wank would never get old. They released the Drawn Together movie this month, I have it on my hard drive, maybe it'll rekindle my interest.

This one time, one of the stoniest highs I had ever been... stoned?... I was watching UFC, or King of The Cage/Rumble on the Rock/Something, I was really stoned, and my hardass cousin was sitting on the couch next to me, and I got a boner while the two fighters were grappling, one taking the others back in the guard ect., and I think it may have been 'the urge to urinate', but I was too embarrassed to move and my face went red, and I had a boner (3-4 tenths). With regards to The Wire: It's really as good as TV gets. But it's hard to get into, because the story is the season, not the episode, and that's a really hard adjustment to make. The first episode of any given season is only interesting insofar as you're willing to see it as the opening chapter of a season-long novel, which is in a lot of ways radically different from the way you evaluate episodes of a TV show naturally.
Then again, you might just not like it. Because you're retarded.

We still watching The Simpsons, FG, AD, and TCS. Sometimes they all have their really bad moments, but sometimes they can be pretty amusing. Marge is my idol anyways so I still like watching her.
When my kids were younger I was one of those parents that wouldn't let them watch it, but they talked me into watching it with them once and I was hooked.

Haha inconvenient/unwanted boners are an integral part of a healthy male lifestyle. I don't think getting a stiffy looking at a bloke makes you gay any more than getting a stiffy looking at a melon with a hole in it makes you a fruitosexual. At least that's what Big Bill, my personal ass-gaper, is always telling me.
I imagine watching two guys knock seven shades of shit out of each other is the last thing you'd want to do stoned, though. Aren't there better stoner shows that help you get the most out of the experience? I'm thinking Sesame Street, maybe even a lil' 70s SNL.

It often pains me that I have such a fickle attention span. I'm thinking of giving this shit another go, because I feel like I'm missing out. I'm gonna give Breaking Bad a whirl first, though.

I think Marge is one of the most underrated characters The Simpsons has. She started out as a bit of a "straight woman", giving Homer and Bart something to bounce their zany whims off of (ewwww), but she started to get her own unique sense of humour in later seasons.
Moe is probably my favourite. The guy never fails to crack me up, he puts me in mind of myself 15 years from now, minus the job and the friends. Similarly, Bill Dauterive from King of the Hill (a fucking great show which the bastards CANCELLED ) is an alternative yet equally likely premonition of things to come
EDIT: I'm 4 episodes into Breaking Bad and I'm hooked. Thanks for the recommendation, Dylderton

Breaking Bad is a very good show, it's too bad I don't watch enough TV to actually follow it. i saw the entire first season, and then just an episode here and there. Even so, it's a great show.

Pussy Time '88 used to try to get me to watch it and I always told him I would. Eventually I did and liked it a lot, though I only saw a couple of episodes and haven't seen any since. I'd definitely download a season or two to watch some more when I'm more mindful. I might even pick up a DVD if I can find one used or cheap at Newbury Comics or someplace similar. Do they have those in the rest of the country or is it a Mass thing?
I remember being greatly amused, though... just a very unique, trippy, style of comedy that reminded me what would happen if you crossed old Kids in the Hall episodes with the Tenacious D episodes that used to air on HBO. Then again, considering Cross and Odenkirk were producers of the Tenacious D show, maybe that's not so weird.

The lady who did the voice of LuAnne died toward the end of production, I believe. I could be wrong.
I haven't checked out Breaking Bad, but I know it's the type of thing I would get into. Therefore, I won't.
I got into the first season of Prison Break HARDCORE, then it went to shit, so fuck getting hooked on any testosterone based drama bullshit.

Dude, you're going to eventually get into it anyways so its better you start now with only 2 and a half seasons to catch up on then say.. 5 when you finally come to your senses.
Last night's episode was great, and the cinematography (one of my favorite things about the show) at the end was really beautiful.

I need to find a good place to watch season 2 episodes. I missed the first one on TV so I was immediately fucked. Definitely my favorite show on TV right now.

Fuck, you're right; she died of pneumonia. She was replaced with another actress, though. Apparently the show was cancelled because of declining ratings. It was my hope that it'd receive a boost from DVD sales, as was the case with Family Guy, but the fuckers won't release the last several seasons on DVD over here. The ratings were so low that they don't feel it's worth the effort haha, fuck sake.
I think KotH is an extremely underrated show. Its humour is much more subtle than most people expect from a cartoon, which is what I'm assuming turned people off to it. It's one of the most consistently funny shows, too. Oh well, RIP.
I watched all of the currently available episodes of Breaking Bad in like 2 days. It's fucking gripping stuff, even though the believability of the plot is stretched at certain points. I think the show gets away with a lot of the sillier moments by reminding us of the fact that the main character thinks he's going to die in a year or two, so he therefore has license to do crazy shit without fear, but the performances are strong enough to patch up any cracks. I was happy to see Danny Trejo pop up for a few episodes, the guy's a fucking legend.
The scene showing the Mexican religious ritual of crawling to the altar of a death saint, and watching the two psychopathic hitmen taking part, was transcendent. I actually got an erection.
I've been looking into buying the show's DVDs or Blu-rays, but the UK has only got the first series so far. In this day and age I can't understand region restrictions on digital media, especially when most DVD players can have their restrictions easily disabled.
Gonna watch the new South Park episode tonight, Jimmy and Timmy star in this one, it's gotta be good.

Aahh, very happy to hear that you're into it. The show is like an top-notch blowjob. How much do you love seeing Bob Odenkirk, too? He's fucking great.
So was the last episode you watched the one that ended with the black Pollos dude trying to make a deal for the hit-man to not kill Walt? That's the most recent episode. I'm not sure how quickly they become available to you.
I actually just read an article the other day in the paper about those two hit-man, and the one with the tattoos is actually an ex-convict who had been in jail for a pretty long time, and sometime after he had recently gotten out someone spotted him and gave him the job.

FUUUUUCK!! I just realised that's the guy from Mr. Show! The man's a fucking genius, Saul is one of the most despicable yet loveable cunts on TV now that George Bush is out of office. I miss his sitcom...what was it called, State of the Union? Classic.

I agree 100%, Office Space did terribly at the box office when it was released for that very reason and now it's become a classic. Funny how Beavis and Butthead was so instant gratification in-your-face and then Office Space and KotH were so subdued, though no less funny. Definitely one of my favorite TV shows, there's just something about it. It's very comforting to watch for some reason.

Yes! Oh GOD yes! I think the comforting feeling probably came from the "wholesomeness" of Hank, trying to hold together the fraying ends of decency and oldschool American values. It's like, the world's alright with Hank, so have a beer and don't talk about your feelings haha.
Every time Bobby did something a little bit effeminate or wimpish Hank's facial expression and troubled sigh would set me off. It never got old. His impatience with Luanne's stupidity was more or less the same deal.
This week's South Park was pretty good, I thought. I was delighted to see Nathan's character again, he needs to be in more episodes. Cartman's speech during the intervention was definitely a highlight.

The best part of KotH is Bob sounds like Hank Hill when he's making a point about something. Hey, maybe he's turning into a cartoon with his voice like Hank's and his Meg tattoos. He's sort of built like that bulldog bodybuilder from the old 1940's and 50's cartoons.

Ooh! Is that the game where Uncle touches you while in your PJs and you have to see who can keep it a secret the longest? I was the best at the game. Uncle Rick could never beat me, I still haven't told a soul. Haha!

Don't think I've posted what shows I like in this thread, so here's my list. Obviously anime is excluded.
The Office
South Park
Family Guy
America's Next Top Model
America's Best Dance Crew
Mighty Boosh
That 70's Show
and a bunch of other shit
The only show I frequently tune in for is The Office.

Yea, but then metal chicks are a special breed. I can still smile at the memory of a pal of mine trying to toe flirt with one once, whom absentmindedly nailed his foot to the floor with a heavy boot.
Alright, if we're talking TV, I just have to ask - is there anyone out there who share my nerdy fascination for the Stargate series?

Haha, yeah, like I said, it's a bit of a nerd thing. The first thing that caught me up in it was the fact that even while they push, drag and stretch the realm of possibility beyond recognition, it's quite rare that I can nail them down on a specific scientific error. And like any long running show, it's carried by the cast.

The "One Minute" episode of Breaking Bad was fucking intense. Probably the best episode so far.
I've noticed that I've grown to dislike Walter White and Jesse Pinkman a great deal. Jesse is even more of a bratty cunt and Walt is completely unsympathetic, and seems to be turning into a soulless, self-serving manipulator. I actually want to see him get caught, but then there'd be no show...
I've been watching House for a while now, I'm on series four (my bro has the DVD boxset, just working my way through 'em). I didn't think I'd be into it, but I'm hooked, and I think Hugh Laurie has a lot to do with that. That said, it's incredibly formulaic, which is irritating. They come up with a few flimsy diagnoses at the beginning which no one expects to work, then half way through the episode they all agree on a diagnosis that they think HAS to work but given that there's still 20 minutes left in the episode you know it's not gonna, then House will be talking to someone about something arbitrary and they'll say something like "...and then I broke it off inside and had to call a vet" which will cause House to stare off into space for a second, like he's just had an idea, which he then translates into something medicalish which becomes the final diagnosis. The show very rarely deviates from this pattern, and you can see the cardiac arrests and comas coming a mile off.
Still good, though.

Paddy, have you watched the latest Breaking Bad yet (episode before season finale)? That ending was fucking intense! Kind of left field and I still don't know how I feel about it, but it should make for an interesting finale. Christ.

Jesse has been annoying the shit out of me ever sense season two. He's a great character though. I'm on different level with Walt, or I have been, especially because of how Skyler treats him and the situation. She's a fucking cunt.

I just read this entire thread now. lol. I'm also a huge fan of Breaking Bad. There have been some really good moments in Season 3.
Does anyone like Californication? I don't think there was an episode that didn't give me an erection.

LOVE IT, love everything about it.
But mostly the uhm, dialogue, hum.
No for real, it's all witty to the point it loses its credibility but in a show like this it's not even a concern. Great soundtrack aswell.
YOU CAN'T, ALWAYS GET, WHATCHU WOO-OAANT

I enjoyed the first season of Californication but I stopped after season 2 because it started to feel like a bad soap with nudity.

[ Possible Spoilers for Breaking Bad]
Fuck yeah! I'm still trying to figure out why Walt did it. I'm wondering if he had the "go ahead" or if he has some other motive that has yet to be revealed. Or maybe he just has a hard-on for killers of children? Looking forward to next week's episode alright. The episode from the week before was fucking unbearable; watching two guys chasing a fly for 30 minutes isn't my idea of good television.
I'm not sure where I stand with regards to Skyler, at least I wasn't sure up until the last couple of episodes where she's basically been doing exactly what Walt has been doing all along - getting money for her family any way she can, including taking Walt's drug money (and now she's actually in cahoots with the guy). She wants to have her cake and eat it, the greedy cake-whoring bitch that she is!
The actress playing her is strangely hot, like how a melting sheep in a Salvador Dali painting is hot.

I don't think his initial intention was to go there and off them, but to go and attempt to intercept Jesse before he could try and get to them because he knew once Jesse found out about the kid dying he'd fly over there to kill them. Then, when he saw it was too late and they were about to draw guns, he ran them over to protect Pinkman. I think he further shot the surviving gangster-dealer dude because he didn't want him to potentially survive and give away who did it. You bring up an interesting view though, I never thought about the possibility that he went there to do it himself.. but I think that's too much of a stretch for him. They make Walt seem pretty callous, but every now and again they show him having some humanity. He's a tricky character as he's simultaneously the good and the bad.
Its okay, I find Skyler hot too.

Your hypothesis makes much more sense, but massive, unfathomable coincidences happen all the time in this show so who the fuck knows? Can't wait for the next episode!
I'm not entirely sure that Walt would go to such lengths to protect Pinkman, because I think his life would be infinitely easier without him (the only reason he's even working with him is to keep him off Hank's back). However, he did sort of murder his girlfriend a little, so maybe he feels he owes him for that. Man, it's a good fuckin' show! Can't thank ya enough for recommending it.
I was sorry to see the cousins meet their end, though. I think the actors playing them were pretty average, but the soundtrack and the cinematography put in place for their scenes was fuckin' intense like a fence in a sense! BAM! My sweet rhymes are ill and sick and generally unhealthy.

Walt's actions and dealings with Pinkman is strange.. but I think he's kind of got the "teacher believes and tries to help struggling student" condition going on with him. I mean, a lot of the bad shit Walt has done has been to protect him. Like letting his GF die, that was hard for him, but he did it to protect Jesse. Who knows. Can't wait to jerk off onto each other, screaming "DID YOU SEE THAT?!", right after the finale airs.
The cousins were intense. I think I might have mentioned this before, but awhile ago I read an article about them and one of them is actually some hardened criminal that recently got out of some double-digit (or close) prison sentence.

Yeah, I think there was an interview with them on the official website or the like which I read, pretty interesting. They're brothers in real life, and I think they're both ex-cons. One of them was already into acting and had a few small parts here and there, and he recommended his brother for the other role and he was accepted despite never having acted before. Sounded like a couple o' mean muthafuckas haha.

You see that shit, Pads? I just finished the finale a few minutes ago and god damnit I fucking hate having to wait to see what happens. I don't know what I think yet, I need time to run it over in my head. Fucking intense though, and Brian Cranton just gets better and better.

I just watched it! I have to wait an extra day for it to appear on Usenet before I can see it, none of our stations carries it.
Fuck, things are getting pretty sticky. I'm not exactly sure how Walt plans to continue working with Gus after this. If I was Gus I'd snub him out rather than let him continue working for me, even if it means getting in a few lesser chemists to take over for a while. And even if Gus does continue to work with him the same situation will arise again when he finds another Gale. And I have no idea what lies in store for Jesse, the guy's as good as dead haha.
I wonder where the show is going in general. Will the final season (hopefully season 16) end with Walt being a Scarface-type figure, running everything? He's talked himself out of certain death about 100 times already, the guy's invincible!

I gotta agree with my main man with the plan, Joe "Joe" McJoe. I was thinking of Dylan from the first episode onwards, and not in the usual way with him all naked and sitting on my face.
EDIT: Here's a Q&A with the show's creator talking about the finale and the future of the series:
(Obviously it contains spoilers)
http://livefeed.hollywoodreporter.c...-interview.html
The last question is pretty much the one I had; how can Gus and Walt really be working together from here on, and if they do, how much time will pass before Gus finds a new cook?

You guys should have seen Cranston on George Lopez the other night. He did a barely dressed pictorial archive of him. It was pretty amusing. That's the only part of the show I watched because I think the show sucks, but that was amusing.

Me? Pinkman? Are you trying to tell me I look like that fiveheaded Beavis impersonator? Fuck. I mean, he isn't bad looking, but I don't think I look like him.. except in the eyes, perhaps. http://metaltabs.com/forum/attachme...achmentid=11490
Well, Walt's definitely bought himself some time as I don't think Gus could both afford and risk to just off Walt because he'd probably get in some huge, possibly life-threatening trouble from whoever he supplies to. If it was that easy, I'm sure he would have done it a long time ago.
Reading that article now.

Hahahaha you're much prettier than Pinkman, but there's something about his "style" which reminded me of you. Not the way he dressed or behaved, but the way he...well, fuck, I dunno. I just thought of you when I saw him, not sure why now that I think about it. Maybe it's because I saw Pinkman and thought to myself "man, what a cunt, I'd sure like to watch him die in a vat of acid".
I can't fucking wait for the next series, but I know I have to because the cunts haven't even started writing it yet. FUCK sake. I'll just go back and watch the entire series from the start again, I guess.

hahha that's exactly what I was joking about yesterday when the finale finished. I've gotta watch that interview today... this is the most involved I've ever been in any TV series. It's really the only one that I've ever been caught up with.
And yes, Dylan, its all in the eyes. ITS ALL IN THE EYES.
I bet in the finale of season 4 they will reveal that Walt Jr. was actually the ring leader of the entire world's meth circulation. Then he will kill his entire family unexpectedly, and get away with everything.

Dude, sometimes he totally looks like a more attractive Beavis! I'm curious to hear what Ian has to say about our similarities as he's actually met me (and somehow survived.. man, did I let that one get away).
You're lucky though, this is the first break you've had to sit through. This is my third time I've been left hanging on my seat for months with nothing! You just got to skip right into the next season.. BITCH (and I say that in the most Pinkman voice I can muster)! However, the interval between season 2 and 3 wasn't too bad.

Welcome to the world of soap operas. Don't try to argue that's it's anything, but that. If it doesn't have a start, middle, and eventual end within a few episodes it's a soap so just embrace your escape from reality.

Untrue. Soaps are a particular type of TV long-form storytelling, in which the story can go on indefinitely because nothing gets resolved; or, in other words, where the story doesn't have a start, middle, and eventual end at all. If things get resolved and measurable change occurs, it's just plain not a soap.
I've only seen an episode or two of Breaking Bad and was not impressed. But I tend to think that dramatic television is so bad that just being okay is like being amazing, because our standards are so low, because TV is just the easiest medium for executive meddling to shape the story as it's being told. But I also just haven't really given it a chance (because I don't really go for much dramatic television).

I'd give it another go, Rich. I do think you'd enjoy it if you sat through a few episodes. I can't really say how it ranks amongst other dramatic series as its the only one I have really watched, but I think its excellent.

I'm down for saying Breaking Bad isn't a Soap Opera.
And PST, I don't ever get hooked on shows. They're mostly retarded. However, this show is one of the few that has caught my attention as much as my favorite movies/video games (which is saying quite a lot... putting video games in there).
Must say that it is very slow paced, and there is a lot to take in. Kinda like Opeth or Sigur Rós, since I couldn't imagine casually listening to either of them... you really have to absorb a bit of yourself in them.
If that analogy didn't get to you because you happen to hate both bands, then just WATCH THE SHOW PLZ.

As much as I don't care for either of the bands he mentioned, its true... abandoning all contempt of their elongated tiredness, Breaking Bad is like the pinnacle of all their greatest work, which, in the whatever of the whatever, is pretty good. I couldn't think of any other way to put it other than that.
Off topic, I know, but Opeth were great until they just started living off the trend they started. They should have pulled an Isis long ago and called it quits.

Soap operas are pornography without the cumshots/fisting. A long-running series isn't by definition a soap opera, and this applies to shows like Breaking Bad. Soaps are worthless, artless, meaningless drivel, and even when they try not to be they still are. The tethers anchoring a soap opera's characters and situations to reality are permanently pulled taught, and this is deliberate; the idea is to pique the most base aspects of our emotions and to allow us to wallow in them. Just as porn provides us with inspiration for better wanks with a slipshod story crowbarred in to give it some "context", soap operas provide us with indulgent emotional saturation. It's all inconsequential and instantly forgettable. It's the difference between the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and a mural in Belfast showing a man in shackles reaching up to the sky. They're both art, and they both have some place in our culture, but if one of them had to go I don't think even the most single-minded IRA man would put up much of a fight when his tawdry mural was scrubbed off the wall.
99% of the TV shows which come and go never appeal to me, because most of them are horseshit, but there's something about Breaking Bad which drew me in and kept me watching. It's the fourth serious drama show I've ever followed in my entire life, which is impressive to me at least! The show has its faults, the main one being that Walt White's character is given the green light to do things which wouldn't fly in any other show because he thinks he's dying. Another major fault is the tendency for massive coincidences to happen on a fairly regular basis, with certain characters crossing paths or affecting each other against the gravity of all statistical probability. However, the notion of a perfect, seamless piece of art is as big a myth as Fionn mac Cumhaill.

Epitome of soap opera is Bold & the Beautiful. I don't know what's the current number of episodes in Usa but here in Poland we have like 4000 and more, and that shit doesn' seem to end. I think I will die before these series.
The only good thing about this is archwhore Brooke. Slept with everyone, incest etc.

Well, Steven, Patick Duffy's character, who's Brook's father, is getting ready to bump off Stephanie Forester, but I bet he ends up shooting her sister, Pam, formerly of The Wonder Years, who he's tricked into thinking he's in love with, but he's just using her to get at Stephanie.
At least that was today's episode. I watch it with mom and have coffee and goodies with her.

When I was in Italy, everyone watched The Bold and the Beautiful. They knew America was ahead on episodes, so they'd pump every American for information on future plotlines. But, unfortunately for them, there is a very low level of intersection between the set of Americans who travel to Europe and the set who regularly watch soap operas.
Youse guys can't browbeat me into watching your show. Now I'll never watch! Nyaah nyaah nyaah nyaah nyaaah!

I feel your pain, people often come to me with questions about being fat and unemployed, but I'm too fat and unemployed to have formed any sound analyses of the problem! They'd be better off asking my old careers advisor, if it wasn't for her untimely suicide.
I watched the first feature-length episode of Twin Peaks, gonna start watching the main body of the series later. I only gave it a chance because David Lynch is fucking batshit, and Twin Peaks has pretty much influenced every psychological/survival horror game from Silent Hill onwards! It seems pretty bizarre and unsettling so far, so I'm thinking I'm gonna like it.

Could You recommend some intersting tv series??
I liked Sopranos, Tudors, Family guy, Generation Kill (great show). I tried to watch The Wire but first episode bored me.

Haha I had the same experience with The Wire! The shows I've been watching lately are:
Breaking Bad
House
The IT Crowd (a British sitcom)
Frasier
I think you should like at least one or two of those.

I can either type up an answer or you can simply scroll up a little and re-read the post which prompted your soul-crushingly superfluous question which, paradoxically, is what has led us to this conversational purgatory
EDIT: Hmmm, that's probably the most needlessly cuntish thing I've ever posted here. I apologise.

I added Episode 5 to my Steve Brule post.
Any fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm? I honestly can't remember laughing out loud once during the entire series, but I still enjoy watching it for some reason.
