Yes, my fathers influence definitely had an impact on my choice to pick up a bass. I remember even when I was a small child (around 3 or 4) I was very fascinated by the instrument. When my mum went out, he'd always go down to his practise room in the basement and turn it way the fuck up to the point where the floor and walls of the top floor would vibrate like mad, and eventually I'd trot down there so I could be closer to the sound. I can still remember the smell of scorching hot amplifier tubes mixed with cigarette smoke as I sat in that room watching his hands with interest. Ever since then I have been obsessed with the sound and feel of low frequencies.

Of course, I'm nowhere near his skill level, as he has been playing for almost 60 years now. When he lived in the Isle of Man, his band opened up for The Rolling Stones the first time they ever performed in Onchan. He also played bass for Andy Gibb's band, but later quit because he didn't want to go on tour in Australia. Which is probably for the best, because Andy's band got deported and banned from Australia for starting a huge fire

He has been in many bands since he moved to Canada. He mainly plays blues with a little classic rock on the side. And no, I'll assume that guy didn't get much exposure or anything, he hasn't mentioned anything about a successful comedy career in his letters to my father haha.

hey from all the research I've done there are mixed views on coughs lasting over a week. I keep drinking mildly to moderately every few nights, and I'm wondering if this seems okay that I still have a cough? I've had it since last Saturday, so that's only like 8 days. I heard that over 10 days could be a bit more serious, but other people said their coughs normally last 2 weeks or more.

The Melvins ended their set with an a capella, four part harmony version of the Star-Spangled Banner (Buzzo yelled out after the first line 'Take your hats off, you pinkos!' and the whole crowd complied), which brought out everybody from the other bands, and Phil managed to not say something crazy about 9/11 despite that being the date of the show and it being in NYC, which was so amazing it bears repeating. Phil managed not to philosophize about god and country and terrorism and all that, on 9/11, in the city of New York. I couldn't believe it.

I also got to sing The Lasting Dose to Kirk Windstein, who is awesome.

Neil Marshall seems to be a really good writer/director. I actually really enjoyed The Descent. It's one of few movies that had me on the edge of my seat. I'm going to check out Doomsday after this, even though I heard it's not quite as good as The Descent or Dog Soldiers.

Ok everybody!

I can't do a vid for a bit, I don't have a good camera.

But I'm sitting here with my new guitar, and I have to say I really am blown away.

as soon as I opened the case (which is a very well built case) and removed the plastic bubble sheet stuff I was completely overwhelmed. This thing is really a scary thing to look at. The neck is in fact very comfortable, I was so afraid of the v shape, but I really dig it. It has to be the widest neck I have too, and I still love it. The guitar actually seems easier to play than my Jackson. Which brings me to my next point. The Chinese quality is AMAZING. This guitar is far superior to my Japanese Jackson...and it almost hurt me to say that. The frets are flawless the inlay is nice and clean. The action was perfect out of the box. The trem was set up perfectly too...but I slapped some twelves on it and tuned it to C after jamming on it for a bit. That just made this guitar a whole new beast. I've always loved Seymour Duncans, but I'm keeping the EMG's in here, they sound great. I'm a pessimistic person and I spent a long time trying to find something negative about this guitar....and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
