I know a lot of guys on here are too metal elite for this stuff, but I just stretched my ears up to a 2g. It's pretty damn badass...now all these scene kids need to take their plugs out.

I'm probably the least metal here, so I have to ask - are you talking about that ear piercing technique where they put a massive hole in your ear lobe, and stretch it over time with bigger and bigger hoops? My only concern with this is what you're gonna do when you hit 60 haha.

Yup. but if you do it right, they can close up pretty well over time. Unless you just stretch them to ginormous sizes....but mine aren't that big. you can almost fit a pencil through them.
So when I'm sixty I'll either still have them in and be total weirdo, or they will have closed up to maybe just a little bit bigger than a normal earring size....nothing to worry about.

the g stands for guage. the smaller the number the bigger the hole. Although after 00g they just use the size in inches (over here in the states, I think they use something else everywhere else). I'm either stopping at 00g (10mm) or 7/16" (11-12mm). That way my ears aren't completely scrapped when I'm ancient.

HL2 is indeed a fantastic game, as are all the episodes that followed it. As for the mods, I haven't really tried any other Source mod except for Zombie Panic (which is a multiplayer-only mod). I am anxiously awaiting the Firearms Source mod, which seems to be taking forever
I really enjoyed the original Half-Life and the following expansions too, which I started playing when I was about twelve, and have been hooked on ever since And Christ, not to mention the mods that were developed with the original HL! Team Fortress Classic; Counter-Strike; Firearms; Science and Industry. Apparently they started development for the Science and Industry Source mod recently. I hope that works out.

I'd heard stories of kids my age getting shot (accidentally or not, I don't know) so I was pretty shook up.
I also remember being on a bus and it would be stopped every 400 yards or so and British troops coming on and searching under the seats for weapons. I think it's safe to say that this place was a police state for the duration of the troubles - road blocks, checkpoints, having to carry papers, being subjected to searches, warrantless arrests, etc. Thank fuck that's over with! The dismantling of the military presence here caused some people I know to get upset, because their jobs in the army barracks were about to disappear (not just soldiers, but civilian workers, too). So, presumably they'd be happier if people were still clipping each other and the army had to stick around haha. Weird. |

He grew up in the Isle of Man, and when he was very young he knew this family (two brothers and a sister) from Ireland that would stay in the Isle of Man for a few months every summer. He saw them every summer without fail for about five years and got to know them quite well. Unfortunately, one October when they were back home, she was walking to school and got caught in the middle of an IRA shooting and was killed instantly (several shots to the head I believe) She was only nine. Strange story though... fast forward a few decades later, my father moves to Canada in 1976 and settles in this city where I grew up in Northern British Columbia. He finds work, and soon finds a band to play in. One day in 1982 he's playing in a pub and the band goes on break, and he's just on his way down to the bar to have a cigarette and a drink when he sees some guy on the other side of the room pointing at him and shouting "Hey you! I know you from somewhere!" then starts to walk towards him and says "Jesus Christ, it's Hughes!" which is when my father realized that it was one of the brothers from that family that he hadn't seen since he was about eleven. Turns out he was a comedian on tour all over North America, and just by chance, happened to be in that small pub in this city on the same night my father was playing there. Small fucking world huh? They have been keeping in touch ever since then, and the guy now lives in Armagh, which is where you're from, right?

The surgery didn't do a thing for me, and after seeing a different doc the other day my suspicions that it was all a waste of time were confirmed. Fuckin' asshole sent me for surgery which had absolutely no connection with the problem. I'm waiting for an appointment to get a barium swallow x-ray, and we'll see what happens after that.

Things were relatively calm for about 10 years, until 2 soldiers were murdered in my town (I'm from Antrim, bunny is the one from Armagh ) and a cop was killed in bunny's town soon after. Would it be fair to say that it was your dad's influence which inspired you to get into music? What sort of music does/did his band play? Did they have any success? How about the stand-up comedian, did he get much exposure?
I think I have some distant relatives in Canada, too. I think some are cops and another is a school headmaster or the like. Never met or talked to any of them, nor have my parents in about 30 years. I very nearly moved to Canada myself about 6 or 7 years ago, I had a job lined up and somewhere to crash and everything (obviously I'd be there illegally, what with me having no qualifications or the like haha). Various things happened, mainly a severe case of hatred towards the person I was gonna stay with, and that was the end of that (you can breathe easy now, Blitz ). I doubt I'd ever leave here now though, even if I had the chance. |

To those that knew of my hubby's surgery his cerebrovascular dural arteriovenous fistula surgery seems successful so far. They took out a few of the vertabrae around T12 and he's gaining more feeling in his feet as of about 10:30 last night. The doc was very pleased with the surgery. Now they have to see how weak his legs are to see how much rehab he'll need, but he has to stay flat on his back for another day or so. That's driving him nuts. No paralysis though. Thank you Lord! And those that offered hope as well as prayers, thank you from all of us.

Maybe, but on this one there isn't much (if any) chatter in the middle of his songs (it might be a board-recording).. maybe a few screams the mic picks up. He normally always does at least 2 of those songs you just mentioned and on this particular show he also plays "Wherever Forever Is", "Candy Says", "The Beast in Me", and "Thing in a Jar" (which is fucking awesome). I can't remember ther venue.
I've never had any problem shitting in a public place as long as the toilet doesn't look like a stream-of-ass has decorated the seat. The only place I hate dropping the Cosby kids off at are at a girl's (that I'm somewhat involved with) house because I take looong shits and can leave the place in utter ruins. I shit at work daily. And I don't use those pussy wax sheets, either! I'm the real deal, man. I wipe my ass with sand paper.

You know there's a problem when Blizzard hasn't even given a release date yet. A lot of sites set a pre-order for games with a false date just to snag more sales. I think its the 3rd article from the first in the link above that mentions them doing just that. And besides the fact that there hasn't even been a beta yet (which usually lasts for months and months), there's no way D3 would make it out before SC2 which won't be out until 2010 and they haven't even given it an official date yet. A whole butt-load of sites did the same thing for SC2 saying it would be out last December.

Dyldo: That's the one I have. He doesn't talk much between songs, but it seems to be a dinner-and-a-show type of place and people talk throughout. According to a friend of mine who used to live in New Orleans, Dax Riggs shows are a dime a dozen and he does stuff like that all the time.

A cook I worked with sliced the end of his finger off on the Robot Coupe. He wrapped it with a towel and kept slicing. Did it cut much? Any reattachment?
Hubby might come home tomorrow or Monday and they're talking about him doing his rehab at home. Remarkable improvement on his feet strength and he got up and walked to the bathroom last night. Cool.

Your fingers should not be in the Robot Coupe.
But anyway, yes, that's what you do. You make sure you don't bleed into the food, finish what you're doing, and then you take the time to staunch the bleeding. And you couldn't slice off enough of your finger to need reattachment in a mandoline. So I'm just missing the very tip.
It was kinda a pain at the front row of the Down/Melvins show, though. |

So I've been discussing heritage lately and I'm 50% Polish, 25% Sicilian and 25% Slovak. And everyone obviously knows Polish and Sicilian culture/stereotypes and all that fun stuff, but i realized I don't know shit about Slovaks. Anyone got any cool info or anything remotely interesting about Slovaks?

yeah... since I'm half Czech I have some family from the Slovak area (they used to be one country) but most of the Czech side is from Prague. There's not really anything interesting about the Slovaks, I guess they have a tendency towards red wine more so than the Czechs or Prague dwellers. I'd pick beer any day, wine kinda sucks.
