Bass equipment

Just need some advice on what's the best equipment to get.

I've only been playing bass for a few years in a band, and since I used to be
the guitarist I'm at a loss as of what would be the best equipment to get.

We play melodic death metal with heaps of acoustic parts, and we play really
loud live. So I need something that would keep the bottom end cranking but not
let the higher tones turn to mush. I aslo play with my fingers( the only way).

PLease send me any advice.
Cheers

Well this is in my opinion, for a bass amp, get a Warwick Subwoofer stack, because you said you play loud, so thats about 600 watts - http://www.warwickbass.com

And what other equipment do you need advice on, a bass?

Cheers

I'de settle for nothing under 400w, unless it's tube.

a tube-pre amp is really neat for bass, you'll get a warm and rich tone, and if you want tight high's and low's, a tube pre amp is the way to go, you'll need a tight amp non the less, don't settle for a peavey or anything, their bass amps are relatively cheap but they're not really good at high volume.

I have a hughes and kettner 400watt tube amp myself which I'm quite fond of, www.hughes-and-kettner.com it's the bassbase series, but they're not cheap.

A good amp will cost you a lot of money, but that's the same with guitar amps eh.

Go for Ampeg, if you need something loud.
How could you guys forget this brand?

A good loud combo is the SWR super red head. I played it some days ago and it's awesome, but damn expensive for a combo.

Ampeg is only nice if you like the Ampeg tone... I don't like their tone a lot, but they sure are loud.

SWR is damn expensive, but if you've got heaps of money to spend, get the Mo' bass

lol, I don't think they sound verrry metal, they sound more 'vintage' like to me, connect your '67 jazzbas and you're set for some sweet jazzin'

LOL, fuck that

yeah, the Mo'bass is wicked, but fucking expensive, it has built in effects which are really, really good... shame SWR is so damn expensive.

A Rickenbacker classic, through a STV working man's cab, with a nice ampeg head.

Yeah, I'm with Def on this one. I really want the Mo' Bass but it's so expensive but it is really great. Built in synth and effects. If you go to the right place, you should get the pedal board free with it. I thought that was standard but at some places I guess it isn't. But yeah, SWR is great, it's just really expensive.
